I wonder why Sony is constricting the supply of the PS3... It seems like a great opportunity for Microsoft to increase its install base with lowering prices and gift card incentives (as they are doing). Sony is shooting itself in the foot.

No a collection agency is only able to collect if a service has been delivered. Since you own the ECA nothing (for the next year's dues) the ECA would merely suspend your account for non-payment. Just cancel your credit card and get a new number if you're really concerned.
