I am not really cheap, just frugal. I own several items that are relatively expensive, I just don't waste any money. If I want a game and there is no cheap deals for it, I will still buy it. I would rather spend money on things that are important like investing, education and life in general...
The iPod is here to stay. No other products offer the design, simplicity and function all put in one like the iPod does. Maybe the iMac, of course. LOL. Plus, who wants to watch video on such a tiny screen? Seriously....
Even though Apple didn't include all of the rarely used (and just because YOU use it doesn't change this) features that the other players often hype, the simplicity of the iPod ends up making it a complete joy to use. I have owned an iPod and iPod Mini. Both are great, and completely worth it...
If you really wanna get technical with stats, the Gamecube is actually second worldwide. X-Box is third. The PS1 outsells the X-Box in Japan. (To this day!)
