Well, left it on for 4 hours, shut it down, left it sit for a minute. Turned it back on set the date, played a little then turned it off. Next time I turned it on a few hours later it asked me to set the date again so I'm guessing the battery is shot.

Well if I'm gathering my info right its a rechargeable coin battery? First I'm going to try to leave it on for 4 hours to charge (I have a feeling that its been sitting for a very long time). See if that helps than if not I guess I'll have to see if it will be worth it to change it out or not.

The Dreamcast I just acquired seems to not want to keep the date and the time at all. This usually happens after its been powered off for only a few hours. Is this a problem with the unit? is there a fix? is this what is considered an auto reset problem? I have no problems playing games or...

If you want to go wireless get one of the old microsoft MN-740s they work fine and are cheaper. I prefer to stick with wires though.
