Do you know what the typical price increases are for when it comes to currency conversion and shipping overseas?

I rarely ever buy anything outside of the US, so I've been wondering, would I run into any sort of problems by buying UK products with american dollars, especially when the US monetary value is less than that of the english pound? Also, would shipping costs increase by ordering from over there...
