I literally did this yesterday. I redeemed 3 years of gold I had. I got 1 month of GPU from bing (12k). I redeemed the GPU and it told me about the conversion. I said yes to auto renew and now I'm good until 11/2025. I paid $150 for the gold, so that was my cost for 3 years. Your cost depends...
