Changing this to a FAQs for those that need some help getting these deals.

When I order online it shows X price for in store, but changes to Y price at checkout, what gives?
You can only do in store pickup for the clearance price if the item is available for pick up that day. If it isn't the price will be the online price instead. Sometimes the item will be shipped to that store if it is no longer at that store. It may adjust to the clearance price at pickup but it could also charge you full price for it.

Can I buy the item at one store and return / rebuy at another?
Yes but it is up to the stores discretion to allow you to get it for that stores in store price. If it is an online order, they are supposed to return it to the warehouse it came from so you will not be able to buy it back. It's YMMV on employees following this rule though.

Can I price match a Walmart clearance item at X store?
No. No store, including Walmart, PMs clearance prices. YMMV on getting PMs for these items but it is against every stores policy to do so.

I want to price match this clearance item at another Walmart, will they allow me to?
No WM (or any retailer) PMs the prices of other local stores.

BS said X of an item is in stock, but the employee said it isn't at my store, why did they lie to me?
They didn't. Sometimes items are misplaced, stolen, or the count is off. Employees are not all over the massive stock room nor do they know where every item is. Don't harass an employee or come on here saying they are keeping it for themselves. Sometimes, an item truly isn't in the store.

Why is BS always wrong?
BS is not wrong. Their information is directly from WM systems. Just like all stores, inventory and prices may be wrong for a certain store. Do not rely only on BS.

How do I find clearance items?
Go to the store and scan items, check SD, check this thread. Actually look for something you want.

Where in the store are clearance games located?

Clearance items in general can be on shelves, in dedicated clearance sections or in the stock room. For games specifically, they will be in the videogame glass cases, videogame value game isle or dedicated clearance section. It's random and depends on that stores layout / management.

What is the SKU or item number of this item?
Look it up yourself. There is a search function on this site, on BS site and you can Google the item almost 100% of the time. No one needs to spoon feed you this information and we shouldn't have 20 people asking for the same information that was already posted.

Acronyms to know.
WM = Walmart
PM = Price Match
TRU = Toysrus
BS = Brickseek
SD = Slickdeals

Same, my local store also have all the mentioned games at regular price

Odd. Many of those were exactly $10.00 for me yet that was at one out of four walmarts. KMF must have found the one walmart in america with $5 games.

For me, Justice League Cosmic Chaos for Switch is $5. The Xbox version wouldn't scan. There's too much space between the shelves and glass in these darn new game cages!

My local Walmart completely removed the XBox games section it would seem. There is a small section for XBox accessories and controllers, but no games in sight. For now, the PS4/PS5 and Switch games sections are still there (with Switch holding the most real estate).

One deal I noticed:

Mortal Kombat (Switch) - $15.

Which one? Presumably Mortal Kombat 11?

Found some further drops and even restocks at my local WalMart (see below). At another local WalMart I noticed they cleared about half of the $19.99 and under section and either must have sent them back to a warehouse or another store entirely, those shelves are now empty. They must be getting ready for establishing dedicated Switch 2 sections, and perhaps phasing out PS4.

Farcry 6 $10
Battlefield 2042 $10
Final Fantasy XVI $15

I have four stores within about 45 minutes. Only 1 of 4 had any clearance deals. I may visit the one again today to return some games I just don’t need and see if maybe they have more drops.

I'm pretty sure it was actually Mortal Kombat 1. There was a small message on the bottom of the front cover that stated internet/sd card required so it involved a full or partial download.

Well for what it's worth Mortal Kombat 11 has a 20+ GB download required as well. The cover art on that one has a yellow/gold background/theme, whereas with Mortal Kombat 1 it is white.

Switch
Dreamlight Valley cozy edition $15
Subnautica + Subnautica Below Zero $15

I'm wondering if they found the Subnautica Double Pack in the back or something because I haven't seen that anywhere in ages.....

Well guys and gals. I have a new story tonight, one that has me perplexed.

Last week I bought nine clearance games from a walmart store, on two days with two receipts. A friend of mine didn’t want one of the extra I bought for him and I changed my mind on two games. Tonight I went to the same walmart I bought them from, one I visit maybe 2-3 times a year since it’s a good drive from my home. First return was two games, ALWAYS with receipt. No issue. Second transaction with the second receipt, the clerk is stuck and lost. Calls a supervisor, who says “yeah this is common and happens a lot lately”. A ‘receipt’ prints out that says this:

*warning*
Dear customer
Although your transaction was completed today, you are receiving this warning message based on your refund activity which may limit your ability to process future returns.

Decisions to limit returns is based on transaction information store on walmart secure servers.

Here’s what doesn’t make sense. I don’t return often, extremely rare. Always with a receipt if I do, and they’ve never once touched my government ID to track me. I’m thinking the clerk messed something up with the second return as she refunded me cash even though I told her to refund my credit card, possibly marking it as a ‘no receipt return’ even though they had my receipt scanned.

Has this happened to anyone before?

Probably no recript return which means nothing if they didn't get your ID info lol

There's a company The Retail Equation that monitor customers returns for 27k+ stores including walmart, target, gamestop, best buy, home depot etc. It's not walmart that's flagging you but TRE with your overall returns within 30 to 90 days across all the stores.

Basically TRE manage your social credit score for shopping.

I would say this isn’t possible. I am familiar with TRE overall as well. Good idea!

The card I used for walmart is only used at walmart. Best Buy has a Best Buy card. Target for target. And my ID was never provided as I was returning a new item sealed with a receipt.

Other conspiracy idea is they’re using AI / facial recognizition. Yet that doesn’t explain 3 total returns this year, with numerous more purchases, at one retailer would cause this warning to pop up.

There is some discussion on some Reddit threads about it. It seems it could be a system error, employee flagged it intentionally/accidentally, could be store dependent based on how strict their return policy is. Maybe something do to with it being a clearance item?

TRE site has a method to search a transaction id from a receipt, if that is what would have triggered it, but this sounds like more Walmart specific.

Tbh the only weird part if true is giving you cash instead of charge back on the credit card for a credit card purchase, but maybe there was some error at the time and they just wanted to push your return through as a customer service favor so gave you cash

I wouldn't think too hard about it or care. Just live your life, enjoy some beans, whatever brings you joy Romeo

They were using security cameras as a deterrent and to collect evidence to help with later prosecution of shoplifters 25 years ago sure but to call it "facial recognition" and claim to keeping whole profiles on everyone walking through their stores like the tech is sometimes being used today is probably a bit of a stretch. They can hardly program their tills to function correctly today, let alone execute some ripped straight from the movies FBI/CIA kind of intelligence gathering operations. That's not to say they're not getting better with detecting and prosecuting shoplifters in 2025 however, they certainly are improving.

They also mapped out where you went in the store, how long you spent down each aisle. i saw it first hand, it wasn't so much to do with shoplifting in my opinion, more to create profiles of shoppers for targeted offers and sales. and what do you call taking a picture of someone with the camera and bringing up a whole history of their shopping habits? seems like facial recognition to me.

though it definitely was used in prosecuting shoplifters and defense in litigation against stores, ie slip and falls

What exactly did you see "first hand?" And where? I don't know what you mean by those "its" there. Are you admitting to working for Target corporate? If so why would you say it "seems" that way and dance around the issue? You're talking like you both have first hand actual knowledge and also that you do not.

I think you might either be delusional or just full of shit bud.

I just worked there and they gave us all a tour of their state of the art surveillance system. It was probably more to deter employee theft than anything else, but they showed us how it all worked. but im done, you are smarter than me and you win the internet, congrats.

it ain’t worth arguing with some people. There’s literal class actions against target right now for their facial recognition software and not warning customers. Some people just like living life with their eyes closed.

I have TSA precheck and they use facial recognition at the airport. I have to be at exactly the right distance and height along with staying still for it to work. I claim BS on Target using facial recognition.

Yes, right now facial recognition is pretty good and getting scarier and is a threat to civil liberties etc. etc., he was saying this was in place in the year 2000 when it was probably just bluster he's misremembering from the manager giving them a tour of the store's camera room 25 years ago to deter employees from trying anything, because they spend a lot of time with stock and more time at the store. Employee theft is always a huge problem.

Sounds like what happens on the internet, when them trackers collecting your data

Might want to read that
People pouring over surveillance footage is not facial recognition though. Video analysts spent weeks watching and trying to match people up per the article. It’s still a manual process done by people.

Facial recognition is the computer doing it. Like TSA precheck and Global Entry. The computer looks at my still face and matches it up with the information they have on file for me.

*Looks* Yep, this is the Walmart YMMV thread not the tin foil hat homies thread. Waiting for Mel Gibson to pop up and start spewing some obscure nonsense then runaway 😅

If facial recognition software was so good and ubiquitous in the year 2000 at a retail store, then you would think that 13 years later, in 2013, they would have identified, tracked down, and apprehended the Boston Marathon bombers a lot sooner than they did in a higher stakes criminal investigation.
