The 60GB is the only one with full backwards compatibility due to it having the PS2 Emotion chipset, but the 80GB MGS edition does have software emulation backwards compatability... I have the MGS one too. The blu ray lense is supposed to last longer than the ones on the 60GB.

So I received the adapter and was finally able to test out the hpx with the astro mixamp. I think the hpx is a great headset. I have not tried any other surround sound headset so I do not have anything to compare to. For what it's worth, I think it was well worth the money.
