Why would they give him a receipt in the first place though if they were going to zero it out? Particularly a gift receipt of all things? I know for inventory purposes, they need to scan it out...but it seems to me, why give him the receipt then?

I think my plan then would be to tell them to refund me - give me store credit or whatever...then I can go and buy it myself. But who knows? Worth a shot. Either way, its still a decent price for a brand new, still under warranty 80G
