Wii U - General Discussion Thread

GoNintendo says this: It's not a Pro Controller apparently. It's hardware is a combination of the Wiimote and classic controller. What a let down. If the game doesn't support classic controller, then it may not support this.

So, what's the deal with external harddrives? What's recommended? USB Powered external drive or one that plugs into the wall? I can get a USB Powered Western Digital Passport 500GB drive for about $30. Real cheap, but I want to know if it'd work with the console or not. Do USB powered ones...

Thanks! I decided to ask my parents for 1) Super Mario U 2) ZombiU 3) Tekken Tag Tournament 2 4) Assassins Creed 3 I wanted to ask for Sonic Racing, or Scribblenauts, but I didn't enjoy scribblenauts on the DS. It's a good game, it's just not my type of genre. Sonic Racing looked great, but...

I'm glad it worked for you! I knew you were quite frustrated with the Wii U at launch, due to connectivity problems. It's nice to see that, the device solved that. I'm also glad to hear that the adapter came so quickly for you. Would have been a shame to wait a week or two, while your Wii U is...

Hmm, I'll definitely check out some scribblenauts gameplay videos. I've heard some people complaining about the launch price, as it's "too expensive", which I laugh at. For us Canadian's, it's only $20 more expensive than the Wii launch. For American's, it's $50 more. That's not a lot of...

I managed to buy a Wii U 8GB white model from Futureshop.ca. Got some questions though: 1) I'm not getting NintendoLand (might try to pick it up later when it's cheaper, and used). Am I missing out on something big, revolutionary, etc? (People are comparing it to Mario 64 and such!) 2) What...

Stating this: If someone is interested in doing this favor for me, we could estimate shipping to China. If it's too expensive, then we could have it sent to my house in Canada instead. That way, it'd be there for when I return.

    Wii U in China?

Surprisingly not. They're not illegal to import in. I've already had a few game accessories, and games sent here. Not to mention, my PS2 from home is arriving tomorrow. The Chinese law here is weird, it's not like it is back home. They stated that it's grey area to buy video game consoles, but...

    Wii U in China?

Bump to keep this alive. Wii U's here are over $400, for the basic white model. I'm really eager to get one, so if someone could help me out it would be appreciated. I figure it would be cheaper than $400 to have one sent here (even when including shipping and tax.). Hopefully I'm correct.

I wonder how long it will be before someone breaks the encryption and formatting, and manages to upload Wii U games online from their HDD. (vice versa as well. Downloading games online for free, and adding them). Hopefully Nintendo found a way to prevent this for as long as possible.

SSD is the same as flash, except not restricted by the slow write and read times that USB 2.0 has (although, this is irrelevant with the Wii U, as it'd be connected by USB). Some SSD's used DRAM and some use NAND for storage. The write limits are so high, that you shouldn't worry. :) Bump :)...

Help me buy my first HDTV! Will 60HZ cut it?

Tbh, I don't notice anything wrong with my 60hz when I game on it. :) Each to their own, I guess.

Wii U - General Discussion Thread

Anyone want to do me a favour? It's pretty tricky to pick up a Wii U in China. I've tried a website called "Taobao" which is like eBay, but all of the sellers on there speak Chinese, and mine is quite limited. Plus, all Wii U's are about $400-$500 for the Basic Model. If someone could pick me...

    Wii U in China?

That'd be great if you could do that! I'd definitely be interested. Apparently there's tons availiable at stores in North America. I'd compare the price to the ones I can get on the Chinese ebay, which are like $400+. I do have family in Canada, but they're disabled. They usually can only...

    Wii U in China?

They're not illegal, they're grey area, and are becoming more legal as the PS3 just received recognition and had it's launch here. I asked my students, and they didn't even know there was a "Wii U". They're just coming to terms with the Wii, so I don't think they understand. I'll ask around on...

io: Why not try waiting a few days so that the initial rush is over? Or call and talk to Nintendo first? Might save you some cash.

How's the browser compare to the ones on tablets? No pinch to zoom, because of the no multi-touch capabilities, right?
