It's 3D with a couple of 2.5D levels, but it's at a smooth 60FPS.

I'd wait, personally. I rented it, and it's pretty mediocre. The art and music are top notch, but the level design and controls can be pretty frustrating.

I think you need to put the disk into the system then redeem the Vita version on your account via the "disk benefits" section that shows up on the XMB.

Fantastic game, can't recommend it enough. Definitely has its flaws, but it's one of the best Wii U games so far. Bought it at full price a month after release, no regrets.
