You don't get an extra controller BEFORE the combo pack. The extra controller is in the combo pack.

I'm not sure Cheapy had anything to do with the guaranteed completes, but either way it doesn't apply to PS2 games.

That's true. I was in a GS and saw they had MGS3 from the Essentials for sale under the same SKU as the original one, at the same price even. They saw no problem charging $25 for something that's part of a much bigger $30 set new. Good luck on getting the right one.
