I went to Star Trek Grand slam today and picked up the DS9 set. from the lalaland booth. I haven't listened to it yet, but the discs and booklet it comes with are very nice.

Sounds like you were just playing the tutorial that is only setup to teach you the controls. Just to let you know beyond the social hubs there are only a few "adventure zones" that you will see other players running around. You should see plenty of players while flying in space, but you won't...

There is no gated content in Star trek online. The only stuff that costs $ is storage space and additional costumes/ships/gear. And none of that stuff is required to play. My understanding is that's how F2P MMOs work in Asia, and STO is owned by an asian MMO comnpany.

Yeah, I play STO. You can get the Collectors Ed off amazon for less then 15 bucks and that gives you "gold" status for unlocks. And after that expires you keep everything you've unlocked. The only thing that costs money is fluff and not needed at all to play the game. Plus you can trade in game...

While its not a bad game, it is pretty dated. It might be worth it for someone who never played the sub and plane levels.
