I don;t get it. Are you just an asshole? Why would you buy so many copies? Perhaps 12 other people would like a penny strategy guide. Are you going to sell these on ebay now?

well, perhaps some. It seems to always happen to me so I am just doing it for a change. I am playing on giving a few to my friends who did not know about this deal but I don't see anything wrong with what I did.

I can understand being upset becaus you got screwed before, but one would think they would be much less inclined to do something stupid like this if that was the case.

Lotsa luck selling those Manhunt guides on ebay...they're almost as cheap as they are at Best Buy...there certainly are as many...I would love to get my hands on a Max Payne 2 guide...I've got some older guides (Maximo, Crazy Taxi 3) available...

ya, Manhunt must not be that good of a game because they are pretty cheap, even on Ebay.

I wonder how Amazon sells them or if they sell them because they are going for about 10.46.

Not to go all academic on you, but that's faulty logic. "The basic idea behind the fallacy is that the fact that most people do X is used as "evidence" to support the action or practice. It is a fallacy because the mere fact that most people do something does not make it correct, moral, justified, or reasonable."

Good god, I'm quoting from a website on logic. I need to get out more.

That is very funny because I'm in a Logic class. This is Ad Populum according to those crazy latins.

actually Manhunt's not that bad. I really got into the dark overtones and the dread of not knowing what's around the corner. The only reason for a guide is to put a quicker way through the levels so you can get the time bonus really. Plus they list the extras.....

At least they let you price check something. I went to pick up the Prince of Persia guide because I like guides with pictures and it was a great game and I'm like can I get a price check (to double check that it's 1 cent) and the guys like here (points to the back of it) it's $14.99. So I'm like uh ok, try someone else and the guys like rambling about books or something and I'm like whatever and goto counter figuring I'll return it if it's full price (I don't really need the book that bad to spend $15 on it, maybe like $5), luckily it came up a penny then it was a hassle because she called the manager over etc. Pretty annoying.

I'd hate to hear what you sound like in real life.... :D

my opinion on buying multiple guides:

first of all, i don't know how someone ends up with 14 Manhunt guides because every Best Buy I have been to limits purchases of these items to 2 or 3 of a kind

i personally do buy multiple guides when i have the chance because they make great gifts for gamer friends (especially those that aren't attuned to this site)

they also make excellent little prizes when you attend (or have) a link party

buying them for resale is pretty idiotic given the effort involved with listing and shipping with regard to eBay

my two cents

umm just in case it was misunderstood I got 14 manhunt guides with the purpose of trading for other guides and for the purpose of giving them away to fellow visitors of this site. Not for profit. Even if it was for profit where I live Ebgames does not buy them and Gamestop pays 50 cents a guide meaning I would have to spend 2 hours of my time and five dollars in gas to make 2 dollars if by luck whatever best buy even had them. Hardly profitable or worthwhile. Another local video game shop called Mcvan's does pay a couple of dollars for guides when they can use them, which typically is rarely. Regardless my motive was not to hoard but to share. If I can help anyone out with a manhunt guide let me know. Bleh. I hope this eliminates any confusion.

I think you are gull of crap, floormat. You dont get 14 guides to "share" on this site as it costs to ship etc. But nice try.

On the ebay route, i've looked these guides up on ebay (yes, when i first found about about penny guides, i too wanted to make a profit) but most of the time they dont even sell for the .01 listing price.

You can't please everybody no matter what you do. I was inferring less shipping of course. But with that kind of response I doubt I could give an answer that would quench your position on any level.

After reading for some time on various CAG thread's I was getting the vibe that sharing and deals is what CAG is all about.

MrRhee I think it is, goes into target and picks up 30 copy's of Crazy taxi and 10 copies of TMB at 4.38 or so and he comes onto this site and offers them for price plus shipping. That seems to exemplify everything this site is. Not a single accusation of trying to make a profit just rousing cheers and thanks.

I get a fabulous deal thanks to CAG and offer to share with anyone that wants some as well under the same understood CAG pretense of price + whatever shipping is.

I dunno. You can't win em all as I said but I sure hope I got the right impression of CAG. I would hope that impression is in the minority. I want to continue to help whatever CAG's need help in whatever area is available to me to help. Enough has been said. Just please consider some people are sincere in wanting to help. Thanks for listening.

I went to BB over the weekend and asked a guy (kid really) to check the prices on a few guide. He knew what I was looking for. He told me that some more guides would be pennied out this coming week. But, and this is what got me, he said "I try to buy up all of hte pennied out guides so the company doesn't lose any money on them. I have a car trunk full of guides right now." Huh? I wanted to slap him. How does he keep the company from losing money if he is buying them versus someone else buying them?! What a moron. Oh well, that BB location ididn't have many guides anyway, but the other one in town had a decent selection.

No idea what guides then? I'm expecting they will be getting rid of Jak II, Ratchet & Clank Going Commando, The Hobbit, SOCOM II, maybe a few more soon. Maybe Mario & Luigi and Mario Kart. No clues here people?

I saw on an endcap guides for Jak II, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, Metroid: Zero Mission, and True Crime, and they were clearly pulled from the main strategy guide shelf. I'm only speculating that they'll be marked down soon.

hey floormat, don't worry it's cool. Some people have to post a negative opinion about everything! They got nothing better to do.

Anybody got a confirmation on these new guides?

Yeah there are plenty of True Crime guides at my BB too, so that's a good candidate. Maybe MOH Rising Sun too, as those don't seem to be moving off the shelves too much.

I checked metriod, the hobbit, true crimes Mario kart double dash at best buy a few days ago but they were all still full price.

I also checked ebgames a week ago and soul caliber II was either 7.50 or 7.99 in case someone can't get it for one cent at best buy and really needs one.

I also checked Toys R Us on Saturday I think and Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Party 5, and Mario Golf were all still 14.99.

Just keep trying them whenever you go to Best Buy. Don't be shy, just ask for a price check. If some employee is dicking you around, go to another and ask. Sooner or later we'll find out which ones drop and when. Thanks to everyone on this thread for all info provided.

Charlotte, NC

does Circuit City have .01 strategy guides?
yea i picked up f zero for 1 cent there
Guys, in the future if you see a $0.01 guide at Circuit City, post it either in this thread or make another for it (probably better to make another). Share the wealth, as we do! :)

First of all, this thread is awesome. My Best Buy usually ships the guides back, but I finally caught up with them before that happened. Thanks to this thread.

I picked up Mario & Luigi Super Saga, Soul Calibur II, and Mario Kart Double Dash.

The only extra one I have for trade is M & L Super Saga.

Its very rare that CC does this, but I have found a couple:

SW: Bounty Hunter and
Nintendo Power Advance volumes 1-3

I just got back from my BB and in addition to the new ones listed above they also had a couple copies of the Gunvalkyrie guide. I bought them both. It's a very hard game, but once you get the hang of the controller it can be very rewarding. If anyone is interested in a trade for the extra copy of it you can PM me. I'm looking for guides to Beyond Good & Evil, KOTOR, SSX Tricky (Xbox), Metal Arms, and Panzer Dragoon Orta.
