The truth is, the Google workplace is pretty chaotic. You are expected to keep track of your own priorities and use their free resources to stimulate motivation and creativity. They are very selective about who can work for them, obviously they would not hire some slacker who can’t keep his priorities straight and isn’t very productive. There is a lack of structure at Google but they want it to be that way because of their beliefs.
An excellent cafeteria and of course it is free. They call the 15 lbs that you gain from working there “the Google 15″, because the food is freshly prepared and you have so many choices that you end up eating a whole lot.

yes google is one of the best places to work for but it is nearly impossible to get in without major education and/or experience. i tried to get into their accounting department as i have roughly 7 years of experience but still couldn't get in.

I have a few friends who work at Google, and as far as I've seen and heard it's a fantastic place to be but you have to be on top of your game to be a part of the company. If you want in...it's a dream job but it's one hell of a thing to get into.

Start flexing your programming muscles now!

i took some students on a field trip there last month. it's TOTALLY F'ING EPIC.

you can put your clothes in these little mailboxes around "campus" and they clean them and bring them to your desk. yes, their cafeteria is so awesome. such good food. they've got stores on campus too.. except, you don't buy things, you just take them. foodstuffs and whatnot. scooters take you around everywhere. dogs are allowed. and, as mentioned, most employees get one day a week off (1/5) of their time to work on independent/non-related projects.

wow, google really impressed me.

I've seen a lot of stuff on how cool it is to work at google. It really does seem like a great place to work. And to think two friends IIRC that started google are billionaires because people don't know, and/or can't remember porn links.

a friend just told me they give you free bubble gum, rockstar energy drinks and car oil changes LOL

I wish I worked some where I could get free oil changes. Even auto shop mechanics have to do it themselves (even if they get to use company equipment).

Yeah it must be great to work in one of Arsenal Gear's Nerve Centers. X-(

I'd never want to work at Google, personally. Then again, I think most of the product that they work on is kind of pointless and useless.

Google is one of the most massive advertising firms on the planet, using text only internet ads and using free products to attract people to said ads.

They are the model "internet 2.0" business...

Google is one of a kind, but don't expect that business model to be carried on very far elsewhere, CEO's shudder when they read about their business model and day-to-day work. Amazing but a dream for most of us.

this also explains all the rush hour traffic on 280 and 101; thanks!

my former employer had enough cash reserves to purchase $500K homes for every employee.
[needless to say, my idea did not fly]
this in an area where the median home price is $630K; hmm...at least a good down.
