Question: I have a current XBL account that is scheduled to automatically renew for $50 in a week. Could I buy something like this for a lower price and use it before the auto renew thing kicks in? Hope that makes sense.

Yeppers. When you recieve the sub card, it will have a code on it. Simply go into your XBL dashboard, punch in the code, and voila.
Also, keep in mind that the 2-month trials can't be added to the end of a sub. After you create the account, you'll need to use 3-month or 12-month cards.

While you cant use a 2 month trial cart to EXTEND a subscription, you can cancel your existing subscription, and use the trial to start a new subscription with new xboxlive username and keep using the same credit card. You can actually use the same credit card for up to 10 different xbox live accounts.(just cancel after 2 months and use another trial card)
If you dont want to bother with the hassle of cancelling every 2 months, then buy OPs 12 month card for $35.
