So that's almost a dollar a gigabyte (finally).

http://www.buy.com/prod/xbox-360-12...e-for-xbox-360-120gb/q/loc/108/204356451.html

That's the best deal I've seen that's not from a shady ebay seller or Circuit City when they were clearing them out last year.

Should I bite?:whistle2:k
And this does come with the transfer kit right?

EDIT: I bit.

Also like to add that the Red Wireless Controller and Charge Kit are on sale for $41.99. I own one and it's a nice color along with the black accents. http://www.buy.com/prod/xbox-360-li...ncludes-red-wireless/q/loc/108/208455011.html
It's a ripoff, and yeah that pisses me off, and yeah I won't forget it Microsoft, but I'm in for one anyway. I'm already having trouble juggling installs, and with Lost and the Damned on the way, that problem is about to get a lot worse. QUOTE]

Yeah lost and dammed is 2 gig....thats why I am getting one of these too. Plus since we got NXE I have been dying to try the install your game on your harddrive thing, but I have space issues. A friend of mine went out and got a 120 gigger right after NXE and he has all his games on the hard drive and he claims it makes a HUGE difference not only in speed but for the fact that you no longer have to listen to that EXTREMELY noisy 360 anymore makes it WELL WORTH the money.

Thanks OP, this is by FAR the cheapest I have seen the 120 gig hard drive.
As far as I know all the standalone 120GB HDD's come with the transfer kit.
Can anyone confirm this ? so I don't waste postage sending the letter in to MS to request one ?

***EDIT***

nvm someone answered this further up it does !

Thx for answers, and thx op for posting the deal !

Yeah, the installs are great for cutting down noise. Not to mention, many 360's fail not from RROD but from DRE's or from broken dvd drives. This will make the DVD drive last a LOT longer. Think about it, the thing hardly spins now, and it used to constantly spin. Plus, think of the heat that cuts down on by not having that disk spinning non stop. So installs should help reduce dvd failures as well as lower the chance of RROD because it shouldn't run as hot now. But damn them for not including the transfer cable with the 60 gig package.

Hmmmm, I think I am gonna get me one of these! I am SO tired of not being able to download all the latest demos as my 20 gig is WAY full. Not to mention all of the community games that have been coming out. Most of the demos for them are small, but I found one last night that was over 350mb.

I just hope it is easy enough to transfer the stuff over.... Sweet also that you can sell the old hd and transfer kit!

Thanks, op!

As far as the transfer.....My friend that I mentioned a few posts back said that the transfer was incredibly easy. You just hook up the cable and a transfer button appears on your screen, you just hit it and thats it (well, it takes a while to do the actual transfer depending on how much you have on your 20 gigger but he said its very very easy!) I am very excited i cant wait to get it!!!

I have one still sealed with transfer kit.
Picked it up couple months ago during the $99.99/9%tx sale at CC and have yet to use.
$120 shipped right away (buy.com is a bit slow in my experience).
pm if interested.

Wow it's fate. I've been debating on ordering one of these the past couple of weeks and then I was sitting down this evening to order form Amazon. glad i decided to just take a peak at CAH before i did. thanks OP for pointing this deal out!

I picked one up.

I was down to 2.5 GB and that was before Lost and the Damned. No games installed either, Rockband songs take up ~4.5 gigs alone.

Good deal, but if you purchase it you are part of the problem. I could go into details, but I'm sure what I would say has already been said.

I just ordered one with the $5 coupon. A note for anyone looking for 2-day shipping: it originally had 2-day shipping added to my order as $5.49 but when I clicked on "Budget Shipping" it had a message that the item qualified for $2.99 two-day shipping. When I reselected 2-day shipping it adjusted the price.

$116.99+$2.99=$119.98 shipped

Wow! I guess finding the 120gb on the cheap got hard after the new dash was released. I bought mine new from someone on ebay about 6 months ago for $100...and there were several listed from different sellers at that price at the time.

Oh well, I hope people pick this up if they are interested...It is really nice having plenty of room to install a handful of games you are currently playing without having to woory about room.

Thanks, OP, but I will pass.
A lack of a 3rd party option on many X360 accessories at a reasonable price is really starting to fucking piss me off.
This price is a good start, but when you factor in the average price of a standalone 120 GB 2.5" notebook HDD (Western Digital in Microsoft's case) and the proprietary software limit to 120GB, why pay this price?

I'm surprised that a class action lawsuit has not been filled over this. Maybe it's time to start one?

fuck it, I bit. Lost and Damned is gonna put me over the top, plus I want to get some of the upcoming Falllout 3 DLC. On eBay, 20 GB HDD and transfer cables are going for as much as $35 each so at least I should be able to get something back.

I jumped on this. I just got my 360 back from it's Texas vacation/repair today and I am almost out of space. Thanks for the heads up CAG!

Perhaps you're right. But unless Microsoft is going to see the light and stop ripping people off in the next 5 minutes, we might be out of luck. The long history of that company suggests that's not likely, so I'm forced to submit to the fact that I need this thing, and pay the blood price they ask for it.

I don't like when people try to make others feel guilty about stuff like this. We get it. It's a rip-off. It's been a rip-off since the day it was released. The reality is, though, many of us want or need a drive this big, and there are no other options.
If it only wasn't buy.com...

Thanks anyway OP.
What's wrong with buy.com? Yeah sure their customer service is virtually non existent, but at least they ship your orders on time. I've never had any problems with them.

I went in for one simply because I plan on stocking up my Rock Band track listing. Damn you Toys R' Us 109 sale!

Plus I need room for GTA 4 DLC. Has anyone installed GTA4 on their HD?

They lock out all USB devices unless companies pay them a fee (that licensed for X360 logo). Don't like it, then buy a PS3, it's completely open.

Yeah, I just want to point out that "Hlaalumaster" had a good point about the shipping. My experience was kinda wierd, just like "hlaalumaster" once i got to the shipping page for some reason it was automatically choosing 2 day for me but it was charging 5.49, so then i clicked on budget shipping and it turned it to 4.99, so then i chose free shipping and thats when the message popped up telling me if I chose 2 day i would get it for 2.99, so then i went back to 2 day and sure enough....2.99!!! So if you guys arent getting this 2.99 2 day deal, click free shipping FIRST then you should get the "special message"

Also....I hate NEW YORK STATE:

Items: $121.99
Shipping & Handling: $2.99
Tax: $10.00
Order Total: $134.98

Dont get me wrong, its still a good deal, but it would be ALOT better without tax :(

Thanks again OP!!!!

The $2.99 shipping didn't show up for me, but no tax!
Was able to get the -$5 off though, even though I've bought a few things off.

Are you a current 360 owner?

Don't get me wrong, you make a valid point. But it's hard for me to respect your opinion unless you are actually a 360 owner.

Otherwise, making such a blunt point here gives the appearance that you are just here to pick a fight.:argue::boxing:

Thanks OP. In for 1. I've been eying the one on Amazon for awhile and this price beats it so I had to bite. My 360 should be back from the repair center next week so the Free Shipping is fine for me.
Still insultingly expensive compared to a HDD upgrade for PS3.
Honestly, people complaining should buy or stick with a PS3.

I got one for $90 when Live cashback was at 30% and can honestly say after the NXE I wouldn't want to live with a 20GB anymore.

If you want to save a few bucks, you can pick up the refurbished 120GB HD from Gamestop online for $89.99 with the 10% off coupon code. You will have to pay for tax and shipping (the coupon code FREESHIP does not stack) on top, but the cheapest shipping method amounts to $4.49. Even with the oppressive CA state tax, the total came out to $102 with shipping.

I bought one, too, but I have this terrible feeling that soon there will either be a universal price drop or a bigger drive for the same price.
The reality is, though, many of us want or need a drive this big, and there are no other options.
That's not entirely true. You can buy a Western Digital BEVS 120 GB harddrive and mod it to work with the 360. That's what I did and it cost me $40.

Sure, there's a tiny chance MS bans these harddrives but at $40 it was worth the risk to me. I could always go back to using it as external 2.5 drive as well if MS banned it.

I don't know if all Wal-Marts are doing this but I just bought a 120GB drive from there for $125. Their website still says it's 149 but when I checked out at the actual store it rang up at $125. My wife discovered this by accident, I asked her to pick up a drive for my Arcade bundle (jasper) and she asked the person in the electronics department for one. It showed in their computer they had 2 left and that they were $125, but he couldn't find any left in stock. I searched the Wal-Mart site for the closest one with some in stock, I called them and they had 2 left and they were going for $125. Unfortunately it was a 60 mile round trip for this drive...

It's still sick to pay this much for the drive but MS has you over a barrel.
So that's almost a dollar a gigabyte (finally).
lol. That's still a rip off. Most hard drives are $0.20 - $0.25 per gigabyte. Just do like I did and manually replace the drive with the 120gb WDBEVS. It saved me $100. And since the drive is flashed with the correct firmware, even if Microsoft were to try and check for it they wouldn't notice anything different.

YIKES is this price-gougy. I saw this on the front page, and I'm like "but I thought it was $100 full price?" except I was thinking of the 20GB drive.

Geez, I just bought a Seagate 7200PM/16MB/320GB drive for $90 a couple of weeks ago, and now Seagate has a 7200RPM/16MB/500GB drive for like $130.

And Microsoft's still selling a 120GB 5200RPM, probably 8MB or less drive for $160?

Oh well, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet sooner or later.

For those suggesting people mod the hard drive, you have to realize not everyone is comfortable with such things. I'm sure it's a fairly easy process, akin to dealing with any kind of hard drive enclosure, which I have seen plenty of in my time. But some folks simply don't want to do that stuff.

Also, after you sell the transfer kit, the price of this will be brought down to the $80 to $90 range, bringing it much closer to the price of WD drive you would need. Most people probably would prefer to spend a bit extra and not be bothered.

I saw this but honestly this is still not cheap enough for me. The amount I pay for flash drives and 2.5" portable drives makes this just highway robbery. Until it is under $100; I personally refuse.

I've been waiting around to see if I could find one for around $70-$80 but the closest thing I found was a refurb deal at gamestop a while back for $80 and none of the gamestops around me had any in. There's no way I'd spend over $100 for a 120GB drive, I'm about ready to do the western digital mod.

Yeah mine ended up being 116.99, but I wanted to be able to install full games without having to hack. Is microsoft fried feces for doing this? Yes. But what can we do? Maybe someday when the system's old and not supported I'll do a hack, but right now I'd rather not risk my system being bricked. Kind of sad when an external 1TB is going for 100 bucks on Newegg though. American Corporations: In general the scum of the earth, until people in general start stopping them, there's not much the intelligent few can do.

i ended up ordering one from newegg wish i'd seen this before. I know it's still steep but with the gta IV DLC and rockband/ghwt dlc I need the space. i'll just use the 20g on my 2nd 360.

I refuse to upgrade my HD just because I think they're way too expensive. Kudos to Nintendo and Sony for allowing a little more flexibility with their peripherals (e.g. SD cards, usb charge cables).
Just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone that is new to buy.com you can get an additional $5.00 off. here is the coupon link

http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=81591396

This coupon works. Brought my total down to $116.99 + tax.

There's also 1% cashback at various sites like live CB to save a buck or two.

I have about 150mb left on my 20gb so more space is welcome.

btw, If you need to purchase $200 worth of stuff, there's a $10 coupon floating around somewhere.

ordered this last night hoping it will ship soon (got 2 day shipping) my 20gb refurb screwed up the sound on my Xbox. So I traded it and bought this one. Hopefully this one doesn't die too.
I bought one, too, but I have this terrible feeling that soon there will either be a universal price drop or a bigger drive for the same price.
agreed. i'm guessing there will be much larger drives for the same price by Q4. larger drives encourage users to bite on purchasing all the extras live has to offer.

unfortunately, i got tired of waiting around and bit for $135 at amazon.

too many companies charge unreasonable premiums for extra capacity (MS, apple, Tivo) simply because they can. on my schedule i can't afford to waste time supporting a hack should something go awry, so i end up paying a premium or avoid the product altogether.

Pulled the trigger on it. Once I sell the migration kit on ebay I would've ended up paying less then $100 for the hard drive. Thats cheaper then the 60 gig kit MS is selling right now.
