15$ Amazon Gift Certificate... Most Bang for the Buck?

So after the whole LOTR Battle for Middle Earth 10$ price mix up at Amazon, I decide to go for broke. I didn't have anything to lose, so I decided to play the part of the angry, bewildered customer and send a page long rant about how they are engaging in bad business practices etc etc, then when they send the auto reply, I send another one asking for reparations, such as a Gift Certificate, expecting that there is no chance in hell that I will get one.

Go me.

I get an email saying that they are sorry for the "inconvenience and frustration", and then give me a 15$ gift certificate. w00t!

Soooo.... what should I get? I'm thinking a CD or something, but are there any good game deals on Amazon? Coupons to get way cheaper prices on stuff? Thanks for any help :D

Heh! Nice deal!
Wonder if Amazon's gonna get a flood of people complaining about them canning the BfME thing.

Anyway, I'd suggest Futurama if you haven't already got it. Good show, and the commentary on every episode is nice (And worth listening to. For me anyway).

Oh... It used to be $15. What's left in their $15 season 1s?

You could always just get a normal movie with it from 'em, I imagine.

That's true... I've been meaning to buy Fight Club for a while... I'm also thinking about the Halo soundtrack, but I think I'll hold off on that until Halo 2 comes out, and Halo 1's soundtrack drops in price. Box sets just get you so much more bang for your buck, in sheer hours it seems kinda dumb to get a 2 hour movie instead of 5 hours of a show.

lol, true that :D Any idea if there are going to be a drop in the box sets any time soon? I've only ever seen 1 episode of Family Guy (don't lynch me!), and it'd be great to be able to see a whole season of it straight through...

You think you can send me that whole ramp to my e-mail? Of course I'll change a few words around, it's just that, I've never really yelled at people online, and this sounds fun.... My e-mail is [email protected].... I'll be expecting something :)

I just e-mailed them and got nothing, but I'll use yours as another attempt. I doubt I'll get anything either, but hey, doesn't hurt to try.... twice...

Does anyone know of an 800 number to call to talk to a rep at amazon. I think we can do better then $15 if we get a person on the phone.

I really doubt you will do better than 15 bucks..If they were willing to take more of a hit, they just would honor the price mistake.

Could you please post your message to Amazon. I just want to read it- don't want to copy it or anything to get $15 because I'm mad about not getting 4 copies of the game for $10....

Hello, last night I purchased Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth for the listed price of 10$, and then today I get an email stating that you have cancelled my order because of a pricing mistake.

This is unacceptable.

I placed an order for a price on your website, and now you are cancelling said order because of your mistake. The punishment should be on Amazon or whoever made the mistake, not on me. This is fundamentally the wrong approach to this.

Not only that, but this also constitutes false advertising as the site obviously showed an page which was misleading in an extremely material respect, and it has given Amazon free press from across the internet, plus hits from those same sites, all of which give Amazon more money from this mistake, all at the cost of the customer.

It is ridiculous for you to reap the benefits of this false advertising through ad money at the expense of paying customers. It's not that I want the product in question for free, it's that I want it for the price I bought it for which was listed and displayed at your website.

Please reconsider your position on this, as this is abusive of the consumer, and illegal. Thank you for your time.

(second email)

I understand the ramifications of offering the item for such a price to so many people, but it does seem as if some kind of reparations are due, such as a gift certificate or something, as I spent time ordering something on Amazon, and now it's all wasted because of a mistake on the part of Amazon, not me.

Hey you wouldnt have to look very far to find any. I just figured if someone was going to take the time to write a complaint to a company, he would take the time to do a good job. (but obviously it doesnt matter as he is sitting pretty with 15$)

and btw he did make mistakes, edited some out since then and left some in.

But you are right, Im not sure why I bothered to comment on spelling that kind of complaining usually annoys me as well.

Then why did you comment again :p
squeaky wheel gets the kick, hopefully next time they just make the right price
Or bothering to TELL some of us that they canceld our orders would also be nice, bastards. I think I'm going to buy John Stewarts book from B&M biw.
