CAGiversary!
This deal has been up for a while, so don't know if it's already been posted, but it expires in 2 days so I thought I'd pass it along. Basically, if you sign up for a new Sony Visa card online, you receive $150 off you first billing period, and also get 10 Sony points for every dollar spent instead of 5 at sonystyle.com. Once approved you can also make a one time purchase on sonystyle BEFORE you even recieve the card in the mail, so you could basically get $150 off a PS3 online, or use it anywhere else. Credit can take 8-12 weeks to show up on your statement, so FYI. Purchase must be made by March 31, 2007 http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INT...omputers&INT=sstyle-global-rightnav-Sony_Card

From the mods -
Thanks for posting a deal, there is already a discussion of this here:
When it comes to financial matters on the internet, I have taken a "submit once and only once" approach. I have been burned before and it is a hassle to clear everything up. I would rather wait a day or two for some sort of confirmation or call the company directly. Hopefully everything works out ok for you.
Yeah, I wasn't really feeling clicking it again but it really seemed to do nothing at all. No progress bar, no hourglass, popup or anything. I kind of convinced myself I hadn't clicked it at all and very deliberately clicked it again. Oh well, I suppose worse case it gives two bumps to the credit instead of just one. I notice in my post I said I did it three times, heh.... So yeah, I clicked twice. This might serve as a lesson for signing up for anything in the middle of the night... the attention to detail and the like just might be lacking a bit.
Are you a student? Its much easier to get student cards. One of my cousins with no history applied for a Citi Platinum student card and started out with a $500 limit. Then he applied for a Citi MTVU student card a few months later and also got a $500 limit on that (the limits have increased a little). My other cousin just applied for a Citi MTVU student card a couple of months back and got a $500 limit. Then he just applied for a Citi Platinum card a few weeks back and just got the card with a $1000 limit (again, no history at all)

If you're not a student then the best option is to open a bank account at a local branch (like Chase for example) and then put in $500-$1500 in the bank. Apply for one of their cards after a couple of weeks and they'll most likely approve you for at least a $500 limit. I've recommended this method to 3 people with no credit history and it worked everytime (they did it with Chase since its the most convenient bank to use in Chicago and its one of the biggest banks in the US)
yep a student, but not for too long. I guess the best bet is to go with a student card. I have my bank account all setup already with a debit card, but mainly need a credit card just for building good credit down the line. Thanks for the input. :)

Discover student denied me the first time since I was only a freshman in college (took a hard credit pull for nothing - they didnt say anything about being a 2nd+ year student before I applied). Then they approved me a year later with $1000 limit

Highly recommend Citi MTVU since it gives 5% back in points for restaurants and movies (couple of other things too) and 1% back on everything else. Dont forget the signup bonus from cardoffers.com (they'll mail a check after 1-3 months)

I got the 30 day review thing too :( I already have a card with Chase so I thought that might make this easier... also, I get 2 or 3 card offers in the mail from Chase every week, youd think they would jump at the chance that I finally want one!

can i transfer a credit card balance to this card, after i recieve the card and have already applied?

or can i only do this upon applying for the card?

thinking about this because of the 0% apr for 12 months and 150$ credit

Probably, although dont quote me I haven't checked the terms. On my other Chase card they always send me balance transfer checks and I've had the card a while now.

I have a PS3, but I'm thinking this would be a nice way to get some free games. Thinking of getting the card & then preordering some games at EB & paying them off in full.

One question, I can't seem to find exactly what the points get you. Trying to decide if it's worth it to order from SonyStyle to get the extra points or not.
The 0% APR for the first 12months is nice. First time credit card applicants, please use discretion when opening up an account. It is easy to see $150 dollars and want to jump all over this. The APR is variable, and in no way are you guaranteed that rate. 15.24% is a good rate for first time holders, but you may very well see a rate somewhere in the 20s. Student cards have more restrictions but I have generally seen lower interest rates on these. Good way to get your feet wet and build some credit while hindering your ability to destroy your credit.
Some good advice there!

I wonder if you can get Sony Style Points for balance transfers too.....that would be kind of cool.

I used to think 15.24% was crap, but now its not too bad. especially after my credit card with the supposed "lifetime" credit rate of 7.99% just increased to 11.9%

Yeah, they can pull that junk.....
