$152 for a picture of a used Xbox?

My friend found the guy's website where he was hosting the pictures. He's got some funny emails from people there...

Here's his comments about the buyer's response:

Bottom line to this story: PEOPLE ARE DUMB. I might have to try this again a few months down the line.

EDIT: at 4:02 PM 12/25/04

My conscience got the best of me. I am sending $132.50 back to him. I am however keeping $20 to put towards a pitcher with friends to laugh over this. Here is what the guy sent me after I sent the email to him:

You win. Youre right. People are dumb. And I am a person. I fell right into your trap. And you knew that somebody would. It was me. i admit to the stupidity...now please dont make me pay 152$ for a picture on Christmas day. The humiliation and learning experience is enough.

So I only got $20 for selling a picture of my Xbox on eBay. I still think I made out pretty good. Just wish this whole conscience thing would back the fuck up off me for a minute so I could take this dude's $150.
I wonder if the scam here isn't a little bit more subtle. For example: the seller colludes with the buyer to post and bid on a sham auction. The buyer agrees that he won't pay any money, but they will both leave positive feedback at the end of the auction. For a modest listing fee (30 cents, I think) the buyer and seller get something valuable - a positive feedback and higher feedback percentage. This could make the seller's (or buyer's) other unscrupulous auctions easier to pull off. Just a thought...maybe I've watched Conspiracy Theory too many times :D
Yup...looks like I HAVE been watching too much Conspiracy Theory. I like MY idea for an eBay scam better, though...

That web site is pretty funny - thanks for the link.
The picture includes 1 (one) used XBOX with all necessary power/audio/video cables, 1 (one) standard XBOX controller, 1 (one) additional controller, 1 (one) XBOX memory card, and 5 (five) used games - Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, SSX3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawk's Underground.

Had he not added the word "includes", he could have gotten away with it.

As it stands, due to his wording, after a person wins his auction, they would get the picture, the Xbox and all of the other related things.
Had he used the word shows, depicts, etc, he'd have been in the clear.
Becuase of his wording, he has to give them the product.
After reading the listing, I was thinking the same thing.

i bid with a new ebay account just to be an idiot...........the guy wants the money actually...........

about 8 people emailed me telling me it was a rip-off though (i knew already) It's cool that there are actually other people who care enough to send an email about it though.................
