2-disc Pan's Labyrinth, 300, Departed, V for Vedetta, and more for $9.00 @ Wal-mart

OK, i went to Wal-mart the other day, and saw a DVD PDQ at the register. Now, this PDQ said something like "Holiday savings" and had a bunch of DVD's for $9.00 each. Many of the DVD's were also packaged with Golden Compass movie money. Anyway, this DVD sale almost seems too good to be true, and it strikes me that this may have been a Black Friday display that was put out too early (this is at the Wal-mart in Wilmington, NC). Anyway, go check your store out and see...the dvd's on the PDQ were...

Pan's Labyrinth (2-Disc)
300 (2-Disc)
V for Vendetta (2-Disc)
Superman Returns (2-Disc)
Blood Diamond (2-Disc)
The Departed (2-Disc)
LOTR: Fellowship of the rings (Theatrical and Extended Limited Edition)
LOTR: Two Towers (Theatrical and Extended Limited Edition)
LOTR: Return of the King (Theatrical and Extended Limited Edition)
Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny

THere were a few more on there, but I can't remember. I'll go back soon to figure out which ones i missed.

Add The Wedding Crashers to the list.

Weirdly enough they still sell the original 2 disc edition of Pan's Labyrinth for 27 dollars.

I have seen the 2 disc version of Walk the Line at my walmart for $9, but not any from this list. I'll have to check this out.
Pan's Labyrinth is a damn fine film, go and get it peoples.
As long as you don't listen to claims of it being a "scary" movie. :D
As long as you don't listen to claims of it being a "scary" movie. :D
The fact that people thought it was a horror movie and that it was a foreign film killed it at my store. Dissappointing town, once again.

Same thing happened with The Village, everyone thought it was a horror movie... in fact for some reason people always think M Night's movies are horror, when they are fantasy/drama stuff. People don't get movies and it really frustrates me.

People think Night's flicks are horror movies being they are MARKETED as horror movies. Anyways most of those movies that are mentioned are also only 9-10 dollars at Buy.com

M Night's movies aren't horror or fantasy, they're just shit. :p

Pan's labyrinth is a great movie though. May grab it for $9

Oh, people "get" movies all right. There is just a huge amount of cinematic turds being released.

For the person who couldn't get PL for 9.00, know that you have to get it from the pdq (it'll say Golden Compass money on the sleeve). Though it's the exact same copy, if you pick up the PL from the electronic center, it'll still ring up 27.xx

Pan's Labyrinth is not as good as elitist pricks who attempt to exhibit their "diverse tastes" on forums make it out to be...

Thanks op, picking some of these up.

Took this advice and got this movie as a Blind Buy for $9 at Wallys!
Oh, people "get" movies all right. They watch anything and everything, and usually love it all. And the movies I like (PT Anderson, Wes Anderson, etc), they hate those movies. They don't get movies, they get entertainment.

And yeah, Night's films are marketed as horror; I guess it just upsets me that people can't change their mind about a moive, can't watch a movie and allow expectations to be changed.

And I like Night's movies, so there :p

Its not necissarily going to be by the registers, at my Walmart is was just a pallet drop in front of the electronics dept. Its pretty hard to miss.

OP you missed a huge one: The Green Mile 2-disc ($9 of course).

I grabbed Pan's Labyrinth and went straight to the register to have it scanned. I was certain the $9 tag on the kiosk was wrong. The only downside to this is it didn't come with the outer slipcase, but it does come with a Golden Compass ticket and preview DVD instead.

My kiosk was by the front registers...

Add:
Lord of the rings: Fellowship of the ring Limtited Edition
Lord of the rings: the two towers Limited Edition
Lord of the rings: The return of the king Limited Edition

to the list i got them all from wal-mart yesterday for 9.00 each with golden compass movie pass

I went back and couldn't find any dvds outside of electronics so no go for me. Pan's Labyrinth is $8.44 on walmart.com, shipping is ~2.50, or you can have it shipped to the store for free. 300 isn't discounted online, and I am not sure about the others.

At my store they were in the very back of the electronics and dvd section... very hard to find... and no prices. I had to take them to the register. I snagged Pan's Labyrinth and the 300. Already had V otherwise I would have gotten that one as well. Thanks for the post... never would have know otherwise.
