CAGiversary!
Feedback
2 (100%)
Just came from 2 rogers videos in my neighborhood that have it going on. Wasn't able to get much though (seems somone cleared the one with the good stuff out before me, and this deal only started today!).

I got:
GRAW 2 and TMNT for 40 bucks.

Another rogers video had 3 copies of Crackdown, but little else.

PS - try not to spread the word to RFD at least until tomorrow, especially if you want to take advantage of the deal (assuming they don't know yet).

majongmaniac will be posting a posting a million times if he found out there was another 2/40 PPV game deal.

Well it is going on in winnipeg anyway. So if you live in this hell hole and one of your local stoes is not doing it, get them to call the rogers on Regent or McLeod to confirm.

This is the best idea i have heard in a looong tme. Every CAG exclusive deal (Or a deal not yet posted on RFD) should be kept as a Cheapassgamer exclusive for at least a few days. Everyone do their part so CAGers have a better chance of getting deals. There are too many hoarders on RFD.
Is it PP games or new games?
Used games only.

As for other who say the deal isn't going on today, try again tomorrow. I know this morning I had phoned one of the stores and the clerk (only one working) told me it wasn't going on. So I decided to go there anyway (after phoning the other one and confirming) and by that time the deal was up.

Same here.

I don't post deals on RFD anymore because of the hoarders and people who abuse the deals. There's some guys who have been way to greedy with the ED Games trade in deals for systems. Getting multiple systems then selling them to make a little proffit :hot: Now the cheap games with the $8 trade in value are being taken off the lists and people who just want one system cheap can't get one.

I've started just to PM some people who live in the same City as I do and we share deals that way without telling the Hoarders.

it would be a good idea if we could form a Canadian CAG group and that way keep deals within the CAG community, so everyone gets their fair pick at it

i agree with you, there are lurkers that have not posted since 2002 abusing these types of deal. There are also so called "Deal Guru" people on there that abuse these deals too. Trading for games for systems they don't even own.

Much agreed. I can't stand the hoarding that happens on RFD. I don't even post deals there anymore - I just tend to post at cgcc.ca

CAG is a pretty safe place. Since most horders are too lazy to sign up to view the posts. Most of them probably aren't even aware that there is a Canadian section anyway.

If someone starts it, ill be the first to join!

I'd join up too. On another note

MY ROGERS WAS FINALLY DOING IT WEEEEEE

I got 10 games I think :D It's going to be a fun night/weekend

Can you list...the games, just curious

P.S GOOD JOB EVERONE, THIS IS STILL NOT ON RFD!!!!

You don't have to sign up to read the Canada board, but like imcrazy said, no one knows there's a Canada board anyway XD I just post deals here and GAF (I run a Canada Deals topic there that some you go to as well). RFD finds out eventually anyway. Nice to give the gamers at the gaming websites (here and GAF) a heads up beforehand.

I got the following

Tetris Evolution (360)
Gears of War (360)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (360)
Virtua Tennis 3 (360)
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (360)
Tony Hawks Project 8 (360)
The Godfather Blackhand Edition (Wii)
Marble Mania (wii)
Medal of Honour: Vanguard (wii)
Sonic & The Secret Rings (Wii)

Namco 50th Anniversary (GBA)

Whoa, nice pickups, magiic.

I really need to call my stores in Ottawa. I don't like the randomness of whether stores are doing it or not ;[

I agree all I know is mine (Westshore Centre in Victoria) is finally doing it. Im going to go again tommorow before work. :) My store had a good selection. I left 3 copies of GRAW2 and 1 copy of Virtua behind for some other folks. Mine also had like 6 copies of FFXII.

Nice deal. Regarding Hoarders, yeah. there's a ton of them on the RFD, but since CAG is becoming more well known, I believe more hoarders than anything lurk here on the Canada Boards, as evidenced by view posts on threads, the main CAG board has become private to keep out the FatWallet or SlickDeals posters from just lurking there, and if you want to lurk, you have to sign up, and even than it takes time to approve I think...I think the Canada Boards should become private and only visible if you sign up, to prevent more hoarders from visiting it.

Sonic & Godfather was definately a score. Mine had some other Wii games but none I wanted. They had Red Steel, Wing Island and Cooking Mama

There are several RFDers that lurk on the Canada board and post to RFD. But you're right - there is a lag usually (of 1-2 days). I'd love it if this board were locked.

Well, lag-time of 2 days is fine. Gives us a bit of time and sharing with RFD is always nice as we do get some deals off them and there are some genuine gamers there.

There are some good folks there, but to be honest - the hoarders really outnumber them. Take a look at eBay some time, within a day of a good game deal going up... several sellers buy up tons and tons of games (or systems) and resale like crazy.

I agree..although RFD is a good place to lurk for some deals, you usually have to get the deal within the day, or else you won't get anything left. I know of a few deals that I didn't post on RFD, but PM'ed one or two CAG peeps I know in the past, about gaming deals that nobody knew, but was afraid to post at times here on CAG Canada, cuz than the lurkers and hoarders would snag them up ASAP. I'd say the forum should become private like the Main CAG Board and only visible to anybody, if you sign up and are a regular or semi-regular Canada CAG board member.

i know this if off topic guys, but anyone know anywhere that can do a region switch mod for gc's? i want to be able to play my donkey konga's and actually SAVE them instead of starting fresh every single time

Just wanted to comment on the hoarders business... yes you can lock up the boards, make it members-only, etc., but they will always find a way. They'll sign up and never post, get it from their friends, etc. While I find a lot of deals here I'll never find on RFD, those are all the YMMV deals where I'd have to really go out of my way to find. RFD is more for the general population, like the EBG deals. With more people comes more hoarding and such. Here it's a much smaller community, so word doesn't tend to get out as fast.

The people I hate the most are those who expect all info to be handed to them on a silver platter. e.g. the EBG deal: "When does it end, what's the TIV, where do I buy games, etc." I got so annoyed I made a FAQs. We're here to tell you about the deal. We're not doing all the footwork as well.

It's always a first-come first-served basis for everything. That's life. Take advantage of it first, share it with your friends, and ALWAYS buy first. That's why they have return policies. =D

Frankly, you wouldn't have people upselling on ebay/craigslist if people weren't willing to pay a premium price. I look at the Wiis selling for $400 and I shake my head, yet they still sell.

A little OT, but the funniest posting I saw was someone trying to trade a BNIB Wii "plus a little cash" for a BNIB 360 Elite.

True, but by locking it up, there will be less hoarders, as some hate logging in there personal info, e-mail, just to log on to CAG. The Main CAG Board is working on trying to make it harder to register, don't know if CheapD did that, but I think the US CAGers are more worried, cuz they got more hoarders to prevent from entering. I'm sure the majority of us who joined CAG are in it for teh cheap games to play mostly than making a profit. I know I'm just a gamer who looks for bargains and helping the odd CAGer out with games, and not hoarding it and selling it on ebay, etc.

You can try this guy, that is if you live around the Oshawa area. :p

Originally he only did PS2 and Xbox mods but when we asked him to mod our Cube, he found out how easy it was, got a gamebit and charged us 20 bucks. Best 20 bucks spent.

The thing is
RFD: Buys a dozen copies and sells on eBay or BST for profit
CAG: Buys a dozen copies and trades to other CAGs for games from the other regions with different stock or sells for cost + shipping
Not to derail this too much, but is it me, or are the Rogers Videos in Ottawa pretty crappy when it comes to used games?
Ontario = home of RFD, need I say more?

I got four more games today, my rogers restocked last night. I got Motorstorm, MLB 2k7, Clubhouse Games and Super Paper Mario. Also they still have two copies of GRAW2 left if anyone wants me to grab them for costs + shipping + a buck or two for my walk down there.

I've only checked one recently, but yeah it had terrible used games. It's why I'm so impressed by the games magiic managed to get.

That and I don't think they're running this deal. I'll call a few and report back in case any ottawa people here don't feel like checking around.
