Help! :bouncy:

Seeking a legal copy of 2003 Powerpoint upgrade for my mom's laptop (she has 2002).

I am composing a one time presentation for a charity event being held in early Feb.
She located/borrowed a lcd projector and has 2002 Powerpoint. Alas, I am a few states away and have 2003.
(I do not see a way in 2003 to save as 2002...) I will be composing the presentation and flying out to help just before the event...
Anyone have a legal copy to sell, trade for, donate?
I am somewhat computer literate but am brushing up on PPoint (lol, it's been at least 7 years since I composed...) and mom only knows how to perform very basic functions...(her boss will most likely perform the upgrade)...
We are trying to locate an inexpensive copy for this one night use...ok if successfull, we may use it next year...

The charity is very grass roots with every penny above costs going to local folks in need (mom attempts to get anything and everything donated...)

I don't mind buying or trading for this ...

I am watching one listing on EBay but it doesn't end for 5 days...

Thanks in advance!!!

If all she needs to do is display the presentation (ie. no editing), then she can just download the latest Powerpoint viewer available for free from Microsoft.

This. It's a free viewer that can be installed to play back PPT files...it cannot edit them.

I'd recommend using the "Package for CD" option in PowerPoint 2003. This will automatically put your presentation, all imported audio/video, and the 2003 PowerPoint Viewer on the disc. All she'd need to do is pop the CD in her computer, it will autoplay, and the presentation will automatically begin. This way, she won't have to download or install the viewer (my mom would get lost trying to do that!), as it's included on the disc.

Thanks for all the info and feedback.
Unfortunately, while I will be composing 90% of the presentation at my home, edits will happen before and even during the event (we want to post the silent auction winners rather than announcing each name...last year we had 188 different auction winners to announce and it took forever...this year we hoped to have a fun presentation running in a loop and then edit in pages with auction winners...)
So, she needs to have a full version of the program for editing (my pc is not a laptop).

As to the freeware/shareware idea...if it were just me, I would ask some local tech savvy friends to help me, but this is not the case with my mom. She is still learning the basics of Microsoft word and how to send/open files that are e-mailed to her...

Just so folks know. This event raised almost $4000 last year in a very small IL farm town. We think this is the most any event has ever raised in this town. Amongst many other worthy causes, it is the main support for the community foodbank (which has been busier this year/month than can be remembered ever...) Mom works many, many hours/days on this throughout the year. I go out for the week before and we are busy from early am till the 10 pm news...your help and guidance is greatly appreciated by those in need!

i would just download open office and try it out. i have it and love it. it is fully compatible with microsoft office and you could either create it in this program or in yours and take the install file with you to the event and install it on your moms machine. it will edit it even if you used ms office. works great and is very similar too. won't be a problem adapting to it either. i got it after wanting to upgrade my office and haven't looked back. great product.

Update.
I have located a used computer reseller who advertises on craigslist (and perhaps other places).
They were advertising a used Dell laptop with 2003 office for $200.
I spoke to the owner? who will sell me a complete version of 2003 MS Office suite for $25 (charity price).
I want this to be legal and am overwhelmed when going on the Microsoft site...
Is there a way I can check that the license "key" code I am given is legit/legal/never been used?
He said I would receive a disc.

I don't think there's a way to check the status of the keycode.

FYI...this doesn't sound legit in the slightest.

I am slowly convincing my boss that OpenOffice is the way to go. He personally uses MSWorks for everything, but over time I've converted his spreadsheets to Excel sheets. However, with the cost of MS Office, the company president won't buy it for the other couple of people who need it, so we went with OpenOffice.

Love it! I've only had one small problem, which was on a formula on a spreadsheet. Best part about it is the price.

Best idea--download it on your machine (less than 200 MB), burn it to CD, install it on yours, make your slideshow, take it to your mom's house, install it for her and be guaranteed 100% compatibility!!!

If you get the official Microsoft certificate (with the hologram on it) with the key printed on it, then that is the product. Nothing else matters.

It's similar to the Windows XP key sticker that is found on most computers.

A guy I used to work with used to work for a non-profit company, he said they got ridiculously cheap licenses for pretty much all MS products, so I wouldn't be surprised if the $25 ones are legit, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they are phony either. As has been said, check for the holograms.
