Custom Robo and 1080 have reported to ring up at $7.99 each at EB B&M. You can pick them both up for $16+tax and flip it at fye for $36.
Strider, is that a new or PO price of $7.99? The eb's around me never seems to have these in stock used.
They rejected the one copy, claiming it was too scratched. I figured that was just a diplomatic way of not accepting a duplicate, but then...

I get the rejected copy of Timesplitters back in the mail today!
:shock::shock::shock:

What, did they change their policy? Did they spare the n00b because it was my first time?
Two of my PS2 games, TimeSplitters ($26.00) and Nightshade ($18.00) have just recently been rejected by wherehouse.com because they were "scratched". I am also a first-time trader, so hopefully I will get my two games back in the mail eventually. That would be awesome if they changed their policy, because I know those two "scratched" games were in emaculate condition, and I wouldn't wanna lose $44.00 worth of trade-in credit.

I guess Wherehouse really means it when they say "no visible scratches." I'm not taking any chances when I send in a game, if it has even the slightest indication of a scratch, I'm not going to send it to them. I just hope the stuff I sent in on Friday will be ok.
Which store was that? I've been able to trade at Fashion Square, Mall at Milennia, and used to be able to at the Oviedo Marketplace. I damn near every mall in Orlando and usually hear that they don't do game trades anymore because of the law change. Judging from the PM you sent me a long time back, I'm guessing it was the Fashion Square location you're talking about. I think I only actually got to trade in once, and it was with a teenage guy who seemed pretty lax and told me how he always trades in "crap DVD's" he has. The two people (adults) I've dealt with at Mall at Millennia have been nothing but courteous and upbeat, and I've traded several duplicates and 10+ games at a time there.

Also, if you haven't been following the thread, when I came in to ask if I could return the two games I was forced to get when picking up my PSP preorder, the manager told me I was under investigation in Daytona (where I also went one boring day) and Orlando. He didn't tell me why, and I neglected to ask why. I went in about a week later to ask about it, but the manager at that time hadn't heard about me at all. Now three weeks later, still no phone calls or anything. Something's rotten in the state of Denmark.

Oh, and BTW, I've also had to fill out those forms when trading now at EB and GameRush. Fortunately they use actual fingerprinting ink that comes off no problem.
Actually I go to the Florida Mall at OBT. Fashion Square is kinda far. I didn't have problems trading in at EB though. Did you remember that story about how people murdered this dude just for an Xbox and some games? Damn I tell you crazy shit happens here in FL!
Strider, is that a new or PO price of $7.99? The eb's around me never seems to have these in stock used.
1080 is $7.99, Custom Robo rung up at $9.99 for me. Apparently, the poster I got this info from got a little confused at the prices.
And yes they are both new.

So how long does it take for wherehouse.com to credit your account after they get your trade-in games? It's obviously longer than about 2 days, since mine were dlivered there on Monday, but the order is still `In Progress.' Yeah, I'm a little impatient, but there are a couple used games that are in that I'd like to order. =)

Edit:

Well, I stopped by the local Wherehouse tonight and traded in:

X2 Wolverine's Revenge GBA $10
NBA Live 2004 XB $9
Powerdrome PS2 $11
Auto Modellista PS2 $7.50
NBA Shootout 2004 PS2 $10
Malice XB $27

They had to look up Malice, but the cashier was pretty cool about it. I was a little worried, as this was the first one that I was actually able to find one to trade in.

The only weird thing is that Army Men: Sarge's War GC came up as something like $7.74. It's $27 online... Didn't trade that one in. I'll have to send that in, after an appropriate waiting time (sent one in on my first shipment).

Edit Edit:

This particular Wherehouse must not sell very many used games, as I keep seeing some months later. Even some of my week or two old trade-ins are in the `new-tradein' section (lots of Room Zooms, although interestingly enough, not many Freestyle Street Soccers). Not much new there either. I wish that I'd jumped on the $20 Halo 2 though. I'm still waiting to see what happens to my PSP game rebates (sent in the UPC/price sticker off the front).
That's awesome! I wonder if that is a policy change... Also, how bad did the one they rejected look? I've been tormenting myself as to whether small surface scuffing counts as bringing down the quality; do they reject it if it's anything less than perfect, or is there some leniency?
Sorry for the slow reply. I suppose the 'scratch' on the CD is pretty large (1.5cm) - too be truthful I've never seen a scratched CD before, I take such good care of my stuff , but that's the way ebgames.com sent it to me... It's almost diagonal across the outer rim.

Unfortunately, I think my FYE flipping adventures are over. Their normal prices on games are so outrageous that it pretty much nullifies any deal you can get with their trade-in values... or at least it puts them on par with the normal sales and specials other stores have. Ah well. :)

It took approx 8-10 days for them to finish the "processing" stage for me. I only sent one game, timesplitters and got $26 credit for it!

As far as Army Men, you need to check the UPC. There are 2 different ones at wherehouse.com, one is worth $27, the other only $7.74. I bet you have the $7.74 one as the other one is hard to find.

As for my Timesplitters trade, it went something like this.

I ordered it from EB used for like $4, took it to Wherehouse, they offered like $4 for it. I was worried they wouldn't even take it as it had a big scratch on it from EB. They would have taken it, but I wasn't going to sell it for a mesely $4 when I can possibly get $26 at Wherehouse.com.

So, I sent it in, and about 2 weeks later, I received an e-mail saying "THEY ACCEPTED IT" I couldn't believe it. After all the talk about how picky they are and they took a game with a deep gouge and gave me $26 credit!

Anyway, I will definately be on the lookout for more timesplitters. One thing that kinda sucks is you have to use the credit online. I would prefer to use it in-store to use with my other credit. Oh well.

I partly agree with you. As far as there games go, you are not getting too far if you buy new or used games from them (you can do better at GR or EB for games). But, if you buy hardware.....ie game systems, controllers, memory cards etc, you are paying basically the same price you would any where else, except that you are using the credit built up from cheap games. I bought a new PS2 slim last month and I only spent like $45 on the games I traded in. I plan on buying 2 Gameboy SP's in the next week or 2. :bouncy: :applause:

Anyone check to see the price of Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls? Someone in another topic said it was $19.99 ( thus making it probablly the first deal at fye on a gameboy game)

Plus FYE is great for older games that no one really wants. They ususally give you at least $7.50 for a game. I'm still kicking myself for seeing a stack of SNEAKERS (XBOX) at TRU during the 90% sale for $2 each and not picking any up :( For instance if I bought ten copies it would be $270 credit for $20 spent.

I actually find the credit at FYE to be pretty darn useful--but then again, I only use it on brand new games that would retail for $50 or $40 anyway; most of the stuff I trade in gets at least tripple what I paid for it (like the two brand new copies of Room Zoom I have coming in the mail for a combined price of $15 :D ), and so I can pick up a new release on release day for about $15-$20 instead of $50.... very much worth it to me :)

Don't feel too bad, unless you would have been able to get rid of a lot of copies quickly, you would have been stuck with them since only a few weeks after the sale, they dropped to $0.01 trade in value (plus finding a store to accept it was a little difficult). Now they are worthless since they are POX at EB and even on EBay they don't sell for more than $10.

Thanks!

I would have sworn that I checked the UPC of the copy of Army Men that I sent in to wherehouse.com, but it's quite possible that I didn't., since I've only ever seen one listed for the Gamecube. The one I've got here sure dosen't match the $27 version. =( I tried the UPC code at wherehouse.com and nothing shows up. Any idea what the difference is, other than the UPC?

Hmm...looking at the amazon.com page for the game, it looks like that was the original 3DO release, with the `Only For' Gamecube logo. I wonder if they'll reject it (and hopefully send it
back!), or what.

Double Hmm...the frigging picture on wherehouse.com is the NEW one, which looks exactly like the one I've got. Ok, no wonder I'm feeling so confused. =(

Edit #3 for today:

Well, my order ended up as Completed today, and I even got the credit for the Army Men: Sarge's War! Shipping and tax sucks, but we'll see when my first order shows up. If the games really are scratchless and spotless then I'll be happy.

GO TO FYE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!

Today i stopped by the Fye at the SeaTac Mall(federal way,WA) and they had sign's everywhere with 25%-50% for all the items in the store because that location was about to close down. Unfortunately this location didn't sell videogames:(

But anyways the interesting thing was that ALL the items in the whole store were 25%-50%.
When i went to the counter i asked the lady if anymore locations were shutting down and she said the Northgate(seattle,Wa) one is also about to close.

I only had $62 in Fye credit when i went in today, but here's what i got:

(2) 264 cd/dvd case logic brand carrying cases $15 each

nooo!!! northgate is my bread and butter...what a crappy week, first EB gets bought out my stupid gamestop, now this. And still no logitech psp cases in seattle.

I traded in another Freekstyle Soccer today, snagging 17 for it still. Also traded in MGS3 for 18, ESPN Baseball for 7 and XIII for 7.50.

Well, yesterday I recieved both TimeSplitters and Nightshade in the mail!!! I'm guessing they changed their policy - rather than keeping the games that were rejected, they mail them back to you. That's awesome! These games really ARE in perfect condition (wherehouse.com claimed that they were "scratched"). So maybe I'll just trade them in to FYE or Coconuts. I sure could use the $44.00!

Got 26 for Room Zoom yesterday. I tried to get rid of Freestyle Street Soccer, but it turns out that the two closest FYEs now refuse to take the game (A third that I tried refused it because it had no instructions). Luckily I got it as part of the BOGO 1/2 off, so for 2.50, maybe ill play it or something.

I asked if they had psychonauts, but they didnt, and had no idea if they would get it in. They said to try next week.

timesplitters only gets $4 in store, that sucks. The games it actually good though, I'd keep it and shoot zombies in the chinese kitchen level.

Did they deduct any cost of sending back the games to you in the amount of other credit you received?

It sounds like maybe they don't want to accept TimeSplitters for $26 (since I think someone else posted, their copy got rejected as well), but it's their own fault for not updating the trade in prices to reflect what the game is really worth.

Also, not trade in related, but has anyone else noticed that Wherehouse.com has a horrible selection of in stock games. It seems like every game I search for is out of stock. Kind of makes it difficult to spend the trade in credit.

Is it just me or does FYE have the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!?!

Well to make a long story short i went to the Alderwood mall WA fye yesterday & had the worst customer service experience EVER IN MY LIFE!!.

I had 4 games: Room Zoom,Malice,Espn Hockey 2k4,Custom Robo.
Basically what happened was the stuart little looking asshole manager makes the following quotes.

I ask him how much can i get for each game & he tells me WITHOUT SCANNING THEM:
"These games aren't worth much"

I tell him i still want them scanned and after he looks at the disc's, he scan's them 1 by 1
After scanning each game he pauses and looks at the back of each game like he's in shock and says
"Sorry we can't take these games"

I ask why?
"We don't believe that these games will sell"

I ask, why's that?
"Well espn is a old sports game"

I ask what's the trade in credit for espn?
"$15"

What about the other games?
"Robo is $18,Zoom $26,Malice $27"

And you can't take these games?
"No we have to many of these in stock"

How many do you have in stock?
"We have a number of these games in stock"

I'm pissed now, so i say, Well i've been looking for an extra copy of room zoom for a friend, how many of those do you have?
"Um, we are not allowed to tell customers the amount of a item we have in stock"

Ok cool can you go get me a copy so i can check to make sure it's in good condition? He then checks the computer again and says
"Sorry that game isn't at this store"

But you said you had these games in stock.
"No, i said we have to many games in stock"

I then just left & came to the conclusion that i will do everything in my power to make $1000's in credit and abuse this company now, i don't give a damn what anyone say's!!!

I will be reporting extensively on ways to exploit this trade-in policy!

I think youre a little late on that.

If that's the worst customer service experience you ever get, be thankful. If anything, it sounds like the cashier was clueless at saying "sorry, we can't take these games". He probably knew about the huge trade in credit for those games (or, at least Room Zoom and Malice), but for some reason, couldn't figure out how to say no. Obviously they wont be able to sell NHL 2k4, because for one, its an old sports game, and secondly, theyll probably price it higher than NHL 2k5 (and thats FYEs fault). I say stop by and see if someone new is at the register, but chances are, they've caught on at your store.

Does anyone know if FYE still takes in PSOne games?

Oh, and THUG 2 Remix for PSP gets $19.50

Last time I tried to trade in a PSOne game (Dracula), they wouldn't take it. They do have 1 used PSOne game on the shelf but it's been there for a while so I don't know if they still do take games but only selectively or they stopped taking PSOne games altogether.

Wow guys, forget about ebaying off your copies of Rez. Sell it to Wherehouse for $4 instead!

Yeah, I saw that a while ago, doesn't make much sense. They give $26 for junk like Room Zoom that isn't even worth $10 new on EBay, yet they give $4 for a game that easily gets $50+ on EBay.

Ok I just got a confirmation that my trade ins were received at Wherehouse.com. Both room zoom (xbox) 26.00 and alias (ps2) 14.99 passed, but timesplitters (ps2) was rejected for missing artwork. I sent them a complete game with manual and boxart, was there another piece of art included in the original time splitters? Or is this just an excuse to reject my copy cause they have too many?
the SAME thing happened to me at the alderwood store about a month ago, I had the same stack of games pretty much. I got a lady manager though and she gave me the exact same lines... wow that store sucks, I drove up from seattle too. Now that the northgate and seatac stores closed, it's gonna be tough to exploit FYE around seattle. The lady manager at the southcenter store has given me problems too (i posted that awhile back).

I think they are wise to our shenanigans.

The first two times I tried to trade in Freekstyle, I got shut out too..I just kept trying and Ive now got 4 of them traded in on 4 different occasions. It may be a hassle, but its worth it.

Yes. They (wherehouse.com) make up lies so that they don't have to accept high trade-in games. They lied and told me that my two PS2 games TimeSplitters ($26.00) and Nightshade ($18.00) could not be accepted because they were scratched, yet both games were in flawless, emaculate condition.

Luckily, you'll get your TimeSplitters (PS2) back in the mail, but expect the boxart and/or instructions to be missing... and hold wherehouse.com responsible!

Some gamecube game called Shox gets $27 at wherehouse, so that is possibly anot her great trade in if you can actually find it (i've never heard of it before).

It was announced for gamecube, but was cancelled

Yesterday at Wherehouse Music:

FF: CC $22.19
Showdown: LOW $22.19
Manhunt $15
Malice $27 (had to be looked up in the system)

Since this Wherehouse has B3G1 I got:

Mercenaries (Xbox)
DK Jungle Beat w/ bongos
Tekken 5
Brothers in Arms (Xbox)

The most expensive one was DK. It was $40. I had to use some extra credit I've been holding on to.

They were all used. Sorry for the confusion. I just always assume that when people see BxGx that it's for used stuff. Here's the price breakdown:

DK Jungle Beat w/ drums $39.99
Mercenaries $35.99
Tekken 5 $35.98
Brothers in Arms $.01 (oringinal sticker 35.98)

This particular Wherehouse has been running this deal for at least 2-3 months now. Who knows when (or if) it will end. Not even the employees seem to know. They also have Brothers in Arms (Xbox) on sale new for $35 just in case anyone is interested. I picked up a new copy from FYE a while back for the same price when it was on sale there. Since I already have it I took the free BiA to EB for $30 credit.
