I'm just curious, how did he he know you got it for less elsewhere? Why didn't you argue this? If he can't prove it you should of raised hell, I would have.
 
Raising hell in this situation never works. Wherehouse don't have a trading agreement like GR, each transaction seems to be at the discretion of the store staff, so really it's a matter of understanding your store and what they object too. I tend to trade 1 or two games at a time, at irregular times and dates. I have only traded 2 of any particular title to the same store, something I learnt from my GR banning experience. I've also started trading against the wherehouse website, it's alittle more effort, but a way to disperse my trades.

Was your banning for all FYE's / Wherehouse, or just that particular store ?
 
I disagree with you. If someone accuses me of something that they have no proof of and no validity of saying it, there's an argument there. If nothing happens with the argument, you ask for their boss. Everyone has a boss, you guys are forgetting you're the customer, and they work there for you.
 
probably that one store - havent tried any other yet.
I have a girlfriend i go to the mall with, so its no trouble having her do it in her name instead.

VGGMADD - its not going to do me any good to yell at the guy at the store - but i did send an email to the V.P. of Trans World Entertainment, so maybe that will do some good.

Like I said, there are no stated rules, just the store's / managers policy. If the manager was not rude / abusive, you may have a difficult fight on your hand. If you do happen to win, I would like you to work on the GR district Manager for me, who has stone walled me now for about 2 months since banning me. I just about ready to share my story with the entire board, but sometime's biting my tongue is a better approach.

In my case, I believe that someone at the store found out about the Best Buy clearance sale. Either that or he was pissed that games they sell new for $19.99 was trading in for over $16 each.

YMMV. Their website says they won't return it but some people on this thread have said they've returned the games that were rejected.

I'd hate to see what that employee would do if someone attempted to trade in Outrun 2 considering it trades in for $20 and sells for $19.99 new.

yet again, choose your clerk carefully. girls are much more accomodating, old guys dont know shit, but that 20 something guy, pissed at having to work at [store name here], is going to be trouble.

My experience has been exactly the opposite. The girls do nothing but give you nasty looks and act all exasperated when you try to trade things in at the FYEs around me. The younger guys are usually pretty cool about it (unless they're short or really fat/skinny, no joke). The older people are clueless, unfortunately that leads them to ask a manager who usually is a bad person to trade in to.

My last two FYE trading experiences:

1. Young guy (20 something) ... recommends that I put my trade in credit ($60 some) on a gift card. I'm all for that. He then tells me I get a $10 coupon for buying a $50+ gift card. That was really cool of him because I had no idea they had this promotion. He even took a game that had a (gasp!) scratch on it without even saying a word.

2. Girl (20 something). Rolls her eyes when I say I have a trade in (3 games). Gives me all kinds of grief about how if they have it they won't take it back. Rejected two of the three games I had (I later went to look for those games and they didn't have them ... what are the chances they'd have Wolverine's Revenge for GBA?). The one she did take back she looked over with a magnifying glass just hoping to find something wrong with it.

I've had other girls who work at FYE give me trouble with trade ins. Before you guys say it's just me and the ladies, another guy came in after me to trade something in and the girl flat out lied and gave him the "our systems are down" line.

I guess you just can't tell. I think a lot of people who read this thread but don't post on it are ruining it for the rest of us. A guy at one of the FYEs told me that he had one guy try to trade in 10 copies of Drake all at once. He made some lame excuse about accidentally buying 10 duplicates for his daughter.

:shame: What was he thinking?! Who'd believe that?

I am so tempted to buy an Outrun 2 for $15 at Best Buy and have my brother or girlfriend trade it in, just to see what he says. Better yet, I'll buy it at another fye with store credit. :lol:

i think they would have to send it back or document what exactly was wrong with it, if its scratched to hell dont expect it back

It could be people coming from other sites, but who knows. I did notice that copies of Transworld Surf: Next Wave appearing in bulk at a couple of different stores a few weeks after Toys R Us's website put them on sale for like $9.98. I certainly didn't do since I've been looking for that game but will wait as long as it take for it to be cleared out with a $10 or lower price tag.


BTW, Yager won't ring up in fye's systems. I wonder if it commanded some decent credit at one point since it still has a listing on wherehouse.com? I sold mine to a Blockbuster (franchise store) for $10 (!). I'm hoarding if copies are still available on Sunday. :lol:

A little off topic but is there a thread of Blockbuster trade in prices? I've been trying to find it but as of yet have been unsuccessful (I've seen all the Gamerush "deal" threads but nothing with trade in prices).

I think FYE's been cracking down on the trading. It's been getting harder and harder to get them to take anything lately. With their new system it seems that they're tracking people a lot tighter. It was a fun ride while it lasted.

The GameRush threads contain prices that people have received. They just started a new thread, but reference the old thread in the first post, so just go back and check the old one.

That's the way it is at the stores I go to as well. They always need to call over the manager. Plus, there is usually only 1 employee at the register so it's not always easy to pick which employee you go to.

This is the way it is in the stores near me as well. They always, always need the manager to do trade-ins, and often that means getting bullshit about how they can't take sealed games or they can't take games that were bought preowned or whatever crap they make up that day. The latest is that they "can't do trades on weekends." :roll:
 
You would think sealed games make it easier for them to accept the game since it is brand new so it's less work for them to inspect the disc and then have reshrinkwrap it.
 
ordered Lumines from wherehouse.com, and after being backordered for 2 days, my status is 'partially shipped'. I guess they cut it in half...

Not really, think of it this way, an unscrupulous person could sell them a case with no disc, wrong disc, scratched disc, by simply resealing their case. I know people who have the equipment to do this.
 
Can you use the credit slips to buy gift cards? I have like $300 in paper slips and I don't want problems when I get to pick up my Xbox 360. Speaking of that, has anyones FYE given them more information about how they are going to do the pre-order.

Did you use the VISACOOL code? My last couple orders are showing up as `Partially Shipped', even though everything's shipped and I used the code on all of them. =) I'm not sure if that's the reason, or if their system is just a little screwed up.

Depends on your cashier. If they're cool, they'll let you. If you're successful this week, be sure to ask for the $10 coupon when you buy a $50+ gift card. It's good starting next week through 10/8.

Okay, couple of questions going back to the "blacklisting" thing. If I go to two different FYEs and trade in the same games, are their computers linked? Also, are they planning on doing a xbox preorder? thanks!

As far as I know, all of their computers are not linked but they could alert other stores via e-mail if they want.

Yes, they are pre-ordering Xbox 360 but info is sparse and you'll likely get nasty remarks and a lot of rejections if you tell them your are trading stuff in towards one.
 
If anyone is interested, there's a $10 mail-in rebate for Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, and they still honor it with store credit.

My local Best Buy got it early today for some reason, but I have store credit for FYE for this game and they didn't have it in yet and won't until Tuesday.
 
Interesting, I may pick that up, I'm also going to get the new Kingdom of Fire, the multiplayer is vastly improved over the previous version.

This is true, absolutely right. But what's so hard about opening up a new game and seeing a disc in there?
 
hmm, I was preparing another shipment to wherehouse.com and I noticed quite a few games have dropped in price and some they are not buying anymore. Looks like they have done some major housekeeping.

Syphon Filter Omega Strain $15 to $6.25
DDR Ultramix $15 to $7.50
Bloodrayne 2 on both systems from $2x.xx to $5!
NBA for PSP from $11.xx or $13.xx to $8.50
Polar Express Gamecube $17.50 to $5!

Yep i was just about to goto K-mart to get Blinx 2 that usually trades for $20 but they aren't even buying it anymore :(

EDIT: Also they're not buying 1080 Avalanche either :(

It only took them one year to figure out Drake. I am sure some new gems will come up soon. Its gone from Drake, to Room Zoom, to Transworld Surf, to TRU clearance games. I am glad that I have enough credit to get my Xbox 360 without having to trade in any more games. They have been giving me bad looks everytime I enter the store since the DM sent out an email about me.
 
Let's see if I can remember some of the downgraded games..

Disaster Report gets $1.25 I believe
Outrun 2 gets $2.50
Haunted Mansion is $1.25 or $2.50
SOCOM is $2.50

That's all that I can think of at the top of my head. BLAH
 
You know what, I just can't stand FYE, they're almost not even worth the high credit amounts.

Best Buy and Gamestop and all these places get Shaolin Monks early,last Friday, but FYE can't even get it in Tuesday. I have to wait until Thursday supposedly.
