I traded in a copy of Astro Boy at Wherehouse yesterday for $18. But the clerk added the extra 25%. I can only assume that it came up as $14.xx. Just last week when I traded a copy in it netted me $22.xx.

And the sad part about all is that the 2 copies I've traded in there have already been bought. It's an okay game and all but I feel sorry for the people who paid FYE/Wherehouse used prices for them.

Also I actually got a scrathed all to hell Ninja Gaiden and a RE3 with no instructions. For FYE/Wherehouse to be so funny about trade-ins being in immaculate condition I wonder how these fell through the cracks. They both got returned today.
Guess what? Its down to 7.50 credit / 6.00 cash

I brought in a second copy of Astro Boy on Wed. and it was down to $7 . . . anybody else have it drop.

Funny, it was a different employee than the one that gave me a hard time when I got $18 last week.

I wonder it is a local drop (this store seems to have had big problems) or nationwide?
I wonder it is a local drop (this store seems to have had big problems) or nationwide?
Looks nationwide, since the price dropped on wherehouse.com too.
Anybody know what Prince of Persia 2 XB nets? Did the value go down because of the recent price drop?
Yeah I traded a copy of that 2 days ago for $11. It was the same copy that I got from there a when the price dropped. It was priced at $23.99.

Good things come to those who wait. I was still sitting on some GS credit from that 40% trade-in deal they were running a while ago. So I picked up:

Shadow Ops XB $17.99
Army Men RTS GC $12.99
Showdown LOW XB free ($12.99)

Plus I got the usual 10% off. Then I went over to the low key FYE in the mall that doesn't even sell games and got this in credit:

Army Men RTS $26 (so I guess the rumors were true, I gotta find some more of these)
Showdow Ops $22.19 (I traded so many of these to different FYE's/Wherehouse's it rididculous)
Showdown LOW XB $22.19

The manager had to add the extra 25% to get to those values. Then I picked up these on sale:

24 Season one $34.99 (includes a $15 rebate)
Chapelle Show Season 2 Uncensored $26.99 (IMO this is a must own for fans of Chappelle Show)

I usually don't buy DVD box sets but these are by far 2 of my favorite shows. It's been a good day (so far). I guess everyone who posts in this thread knows that if you know what your doing you can get the stuff you want for little or next to nothing.

Has anyone succeeded in ordering a special order like how OP states is possible? (For instance, has anyone preordered Arc the Lad Collection for $15 or Marvel VS Capcom 2 for $30?) How was your experience?
Traded in Ninja Gaiden (XB) for $22.18
thinking about trading in NG too... now that Black will be here soon.

Will FYE even stock Black when it's released?

My FYE has offically started subtracting 25% from the wherehouse.com prices for cash offers--and week after week, they're becoming increasingly huffy about any trade-in. I think I'll probably finish off the stuff I've got to trade in, and move on to greener pastures...

I tried to do this with Psychonauts two weeks after it was released. No shipments arrived initially, so I went to a couple of stores to see if maybe they would order it. All they would do was call another store. I specifically asked them if they could order, and they said no.

Today was a huge success, Vrally3 27$, Room Zoom 34$, Star Ocean 24$, Avalanche 1080 20 something, over 100$ in goodness, but I spent 150$ (used a previous trade voucher), and got so many goodies. Combined with the rebates I feel like they are giving me stuff for free :)

GRRR...my FYE now has the cash prices in their system..and they're using it as the credit value. If i want cash, they take 25 percent off that. For instance..ESPN NHL 2k4 which is supposed to get 15 in credit got me 12 credit or 9 cash. Anyone know what i should do about this?

Yeah, same thing here happened to me today every thing except for good ol room zoom was down to 80% of the original value

I went into FYE and traded in 4 sealed games with the intention of trading them in as preowned. After some brief, but intense, questioning the cashier decided to give me full new credit for them. When I asked why, he said it would be a waste to take them in as preowned since they were obviously unopened :)

I must say, it was a pleasant surprise.

Wow! nice... i've never been that lucky. Sometimes the employees think I stole the games or something -- since they're sealed, I remind them that they do have my License #, Address, and phone number.

Gonna try trading Freestyle Soccer today at FYE; hopefully they won't reject it like coconuts did cuz it's a BB exclusive.

On another note, are their any good deals at FYE at the moment which would make my credit even more lucrative?

Please don't tell me the trade in value dropped.

Does anyone know the deal with the differing prices that the Army Men titles get for GC?

Does it have to do with different barcodes?

Well I traded in a copy of army men rts I picked up at Kmart and got the high price.

there are two different upc code. the lower price is for the more common upc code.

Yah I got an RTS that got $26. Barcode is 10425 245503

My Sarge's War, however, only got $7.50 and is 10425 245480.

Strange...

Anyone happen to have a scan of the other barcodes? ;)
Did anyone notice if they are running the Nintendo Ds with FREE Super Mario 64 ds game promotion at FYE?
I'd like to know this too. I'd probably pick one up with my loads of FYE credit if I could get a free game with it.
I'd like to know this too. I'd probably pick one up with my loads of FYE credit if I could get a free game with it.
Yes, this is a national campaign by Nintendo. Every major retailer is doing this deal for the unvailing of the blue DS.

Turned in 3 copies of Astro Boy today, all $7.50.

I asked the manager at one of my FYE's last night about the DS deal. He looked in his book of promotions and it didn't mention anything. He also had never heard about it. On Nintendo's own website, FYE is not included on the list of participating retailers. I wish it was, though!

Doesn't surprise me. If the game was acutally bundled in the system they would probably be participating. However, maybe they would pricematch an ad showing the game being free? (not sure if it would work since it's not a lower price but a free item)

Traded in quite a few titles lately at Stow, OH Coconuts. Manager is super cool about doing trade-ins, unfortunately his math skills a re a tad off. THe cash prices show up in the register, (for example, Malice Xbox came up 21.60). I dunno if store credit is supposed to be 20 or 25 percent more, but he just made it 25.60 (not that I'm complaining)

Anywho, since I haven't been around an FYE since December and lost track of the thread, whatever happened to the trade in value of Pro Race Driver (Xbox)?

Dave

Well i just saw the commercial on TV with the Electric Blue Ds system & the FREE super mario 64ds game so i'm gonna go up there tommorow and see what happens.

I've traded in two copies of Army Men RTS for Cube and both have gotten me the high trade value. I believe it's just Sarge's War that has the two UPCs. At least that's my theory.

Astro Boy got me $18 on Saturday.

One of the better deals at FYE right now (or at least when I was there last week) was Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith for DS for $29.99. Though some stores had it on sale for cheaper (like Best Buy, now expired), the MSRP is $40, which is what most retailers charge (EB, etc.).

Wherehouse is paying me money (somewhat). I had to return a copy of Ghost Recon 2 that I got last week with store credit because of DDE's. They didn't have another copy (new or used) in stock. So the clerk actually put the total price plus tax on my check card. It ended up being $37.xx.

So including the $25.xx that I got back in cash last week because of a clerk's mistake Wherehouse has paid me (essentially) $62.xx.

Ok i tried to do the "Buy DS system get Super Mario Ds" free deal but it didn't work although i did see this DS deal : " Buy a DS system & any 2 games that are $19.99 or more and get a $30 mail in rebate on your DS system"
I ended up just buying Wario Ware Twisted for $30.

Here's a few things i noticed:

Puyo Pop Fever(ds) was in stock for $30
Kirby Canvas Curse(ds) was in stock for $40, yes $40!!!!

Also on the way out they are giving away for FREE samples of the new "Altoids Sour Candies". I took like 5 packs and stuffed them in my pocket. The apple variety is the best!!

Yeah I noticed Kirby is $40 on Wherehouse.com as well. I wanted to get it but not at that price. I hope it's on sale sometime soon, just like GTA SA was $54.99, "On Sale" for $49.99

Traded in Resident Evil Outbreak today for $17.28. It was saying $14.40, but they adjusted it for 20% more (only after I mentioned that their own computers gave a cash price). I also got $7.20 for Fight Club. I've been to this particular FYE many times and today was pathetic. The employees there know me, and this one asshole manager decides that now he doesn't want to trade in my other games. They acted like they were doing me a favor just to be processing my trade ins....all while the store is dead.

It's no wonder I only spend store credit there.

I just got back from vacation and it looks like a bunch of games have gotten their trade-in prices tweaked a bit. All of the `funky' priced games that I remember $24.04 for Paper Mario (now $23.75), or $20.99 for March Madness 2005 (now $21.25) are multiples of $0.25. What's bizzare is that while most reasonably good games went down in price a bit, there were a few crappy games that went up!

traded in metal gear substance xbox for $5, that stupid bruce lee game for xbox for $5 and syberia xbox for $6 ^_^
maybe i should have gotten store credit but i needed the cash

Malice for XBOX dropped to $5 new at EB. It's $27 credit trade in seems to be YMMV at this point though. I tried ditching it at one store and it (supposedly) wasn't in the system, even after manually typing it in.

At another store, I got a $21.xx quote for it.

Oh, and Powerpuff Girls for the Gamecube ( on clearance at TRU) wasn't in the system at 3 different stores. I took it to ebgames and it got $17 ($22 if your trading it towards Destroy All Humans).

Have them search for xbx-malice, thats how they found it for me.

What are some of th better ones that you can find at like, an EB for cheap and sell to FYE for a decent amount of money? I know of

Astro Boy - $8.99 - 10% (GMR) which would yield at least an $9 profit for the most part.

Not anymore it won't. Astro Boy is $7.50 at FYE now. I think that they got flooded with all of the `free' copies people picked up from BB.

XB Colin McRae Rally 3 is pretty good if EB has it in stock; I think that it's only something like $7.99 before coupons and gets $18.75 now.

I finally tried mailing wherehouse.com a copy of Malice. It was REJECTED because of mismatched UPC codes. No surprise there. In the list of ACCEPTED items, though, was Malice! The kicker... They accepted it for $0.00.

Don't send wherehouse.com Malice unless you like giving them free stuff.

Head a good score last night.

First a big thanks to Strider for the heads up on Malice for $4.99 at Ebgames. Picked up Room Zoom and Malice both new for a grand total of $15.88. Went right to FYE ( I took them out of the wrapper first ) asked for store credit . Got the following :

Room Zoom $32.50 ( Nothing better then when the manager says "I can't believe how much they are giving for this game" LOL!!!!!!!!!)

Malice $27.50 ( Had to look it up. I told him try xbx-malice (thanks stoned!) )

Total of $60 store credit. picked up Timesplitters 3 for Xbox. They gave me the remainder ($7) in cash). The guy said they usually dn't since it was over $5. So then in all actuality I only paid $8.88 for Timesplitters. LOL!!!!

I bought Malice and took it to my FYE today and it rang up in the system as $27, meaning that they didn't have to look it up. They got a new register system so it might be a YMMV
