Some more good news about Malice on XBOX, it has a $4.99 rebate.

If anyone has the game on them (mine is in my desk at work) can you see if the UPCs match up?

http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=568651/search=MALICE
Doesn't match up -- this is the one that's at EB:
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=2950130/search=malice

Managed to find a copy of Point Blank 3 w/ Guncon for PS1 for $7.50 today (they were having a 50% off sale on all PS1 stuff).

Over the last few days at 2 FYE's and 1 Wherehouse:

Malice XB (2) $27 (thanx to Strider)
Army Men RTS GC (2) 25.xx at FYE, $26 at Wherehouse
Lupin the 3rd PS2 (2) 25.xx at FYE, $26 at Wherehouse
1080 Avalanche GC (2) 18.50
Battle Engine Aquila XB $18

Had a pretty nice score at Wherehouse with B3G1 (used stuff, mint and complete):

THUG2 PSP
Lumines PSP (addictive)
Doom 3 CE XB
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory XB

And I got these from FYE (used stuff, mint and complete):

Fight Night Round 2 XB (copy for a friend so I can beat his face in on XBL)
Tekken 5
Viewtiful Joe 2 PS2 (new)

I had to spend about $7-8 more in cash to get all this because I forgot some credit slips. Man if you get lucky enough to actually find some good used games at FYE/Wherehouse there's like a $9-$10 price difference from EB and GS. While Tekken 5, Fight Night Round 2, and THUG 2, still sell for $44.99 used at EB and GS they cost anywhere from $33.99-$35.98 at Wherehouse FYE. Even Lumines was listed at $23.99.

NCAA March Madness 2005 dropped down to 10.50

Also traded in Killzone for 26.xx and Midway Arcade Tresures 2 for 10.00

Anyone know of any good trade in fooder from the upcoming CC sale?

Traded in a few today. Prices are from memory, since they gave me a credit receipt that showed the individual values but then I turned around and used that to buy something (Chapelle Show season 2).

Blinx 2 - $17.xx
Manhunt - $6.xx (xbox ver.)
Syphon Filter - $12.xx
Excitebike - $5.xx (gba)

They wouldn't take Donkey Kong Country for the gba. I didn't ask the guy why, because he seems to REALLY love his job (heavy on the sarcasm there) and I really didn't feel like getting into it with a disgruntled store clerk today. I didn't have the box, and I have no idea if that matters or not. He also only offered me $5 for The Thing (xbox), which I declined. I almost turned down the $6 for Manhunt (had taken it because somehwere in this thread it was quoted as being $15), but decided on the fly that I'll probably never play that game anyway.

Felt good enough to be leaving w/ the DVD set + $10 credit + a mail-in rebate for $7, from 4 games I estimate that I paid around $24-$25 total.

The lack of a box is probably why they didn't take it. They are serious about games being complete with a box/case and manual for all trade ins.

Anyone happen to know what the trade in value of these fine items go for, or if R-type final and Reel Fishing III still go for $14.99 and $7.50 respectively? Thanks

PS2
R-Type Final
Reel Fishing III
Onimusha (GH)
Final Fantasy X (GH)
Devil May Cry (GH)
Contra: Shattered Soldier
Beyond Good and Evil
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal

does wherehouse and fye have the same trade in value for any game? I don't have a fye, but i have a wherehouse. R-type final was at 10 at my local toys r us.

Last time I traded in Reel Fishing III, I got $5, but I got lower values for everything I traded in (Unreal II also only got $9 at that store versus the $14.40 and $18 I got at other FYE stores) than normal so I'm not sure if it was just that FYE or all the stores have it for $5 now.

Another note -- it looks like Backyard Wrestling for PS2 is down to $9 and has to be manually entered (doesn't come up when scanned anymore). Xevious was also down to $6. Room Zoom was at $26.

Update: went to another store that had just installed new cash registers. Was interesting, since at first the register accidentally spit out a receipt saying I had about $2.4 billion dollars in credit (would have loved to see the look on someone's face if I tried to cash that in) and I also had a book that initially scanned as $700 million when the ISBN got scanned instead of the real barcode.

That being said, the new systems took both Malice and Backyard Wrestling without a hitch, but Room Zoom came up at $0.01 in the new system.

Not all FYEs are like this. A FYE near me doesen't care if you don't trade it in without a box or manual, they're only worried about the disc.

Over the last 2 days .... this is what I got for various games.

I have over $350 of merchandise credti. I figure I'll off it on ebay for a buy it now pirce of 11% off of the credit values. I'd always rather have cash and figure someone will want some savings off of PSPs, etc.

Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg $10.00
Malice $27.50
Spider-Man $7.50
Bomberman Generation $15.00
Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure (XBX) $10.00

It seems like Wherhouse's B&M prices are usually about 20-25% less then FYE... some stores let you cash out (but it's another additional 20% off). So a $10 game (Primal PS2 let's say) in store credit at FYE would only net you $7.50 in credit or $5 in cash at Wherehouse.

Also what's incredibly lame is that some stores force you to make a purchase at the same time as your trade in. YMMV. I've only asked a couple of Wherehouses trying to get the best deal but have never traded there yet.

I ended up going to FYE to trade in for Chapelle, Seinfeld and Lois and Clark DVDs. It's only worth it to trade in at FYE when they have low prices that are similar to competitors (like with new releases)... Otherwise you're paying upwards of $15-20 over what other stores charge.

Circuit City starting July 3rd $9.99 titles with GOOD trade in values at FYE & Wherehouse:

Xbox

Bloodrayne 2 $23.75
Shadow ops $22.50
Thief Deadly shadows $17.50

PS2

Destruction derby arena's $17.50
All star baseball 2005 $17.50
World tour soccer 2005 $22.50
I got $14 for All-Star Baseball 2005 (PS2)..a few weeks earlier at the same store I had gotten $18. Weird..
This is common now.
Apparently if they already have a game in stock that your trying to trade in the price drops.

When i first traded in March madness 2005 i got $23 for it,2nd copy i traded in i got $17, 3rd copy my girlfriend traded in $11.
Has anyone succeeded in ordering a special order like how OP states is possible? (For instance, has anyone preordered Arc the Lad Collection for $15 or Marvel VS Capcom 2 for $30?) How was your experience?
Alright..to answer my own question I tried to special order some PS1 games at my local fye and was turned down. Supposedly, they're only able to special order DVDs or CDs...bummer

Good news -- apparently as of tomorrow they're going to be starting another Spend $30, get a coupon for $10 off later (not sure when the $10 off will be valid, though). They had the signs behind the counter ready to put out tomorrow.

Hmm, combine this with the 10$ off Oddworld: Strangers wrath to get the game for 10$

And get PriceGrabber rebate to make final cost 5$

There is an opportunity to use the GR B5G5 to make some decent money at wherehouse. For instance Thief: Deadly Shadows is fetching 17.50, it's 14.99 at GR, so if you buy 2 at GR, you can sell both to wherehouse for a nice 19$ profit.

Sold off nearly $220 (in cash) of stuff yesterday at my FYE... or I should say, I had my girlfriend do it for me :) (yes, she's cool and yes, she's taken ;) ) A lot of it was the typical stuff (Lupin, Freestyle, Colin McRae, etc) but also swapped out an extra thing or two, like Metroid Prime 2 (got ~$26 for it).... thanks FYE!

Yeah, they are finally starting to wise up a bit. I traded in 2 copies of Astro Boy and it dropped on the second one.

Wow, gotta try the Malice trade in

So, if you guys were going to trade in some video games, which ones would you recommend going for? what are the titles that i should be looking to trade?

I just went to FYE to trade in Malice. The lady scanned, got a shocked look on her face, and then said the game wasn't in the system. i think she was bullshitting me because the credit was for so much.

i think she was a store manager, so that makes me think she just didn't want to give me the credit. i'm going to another store later to test this out.

That happens ALL THE TIME at Fye.
Although, it's well worth the trouble considering there SKY HIGH trade in values.

Actually, there is a version of Malice that doesnt register in their system..they have to look it up in the system manually, but it still gives the same credit.

I think it varies by each computer system at FYE. I tried to trade in Malice at one store a few days ago, they couldn't find it even with a manual lookup. Today, I took that exact same copy to another FYE and it came up as soon as the manager scanned it without a manual lookup.
The new systems have Malice in them which is great. I got 27 bucks CASH for it today.
The downside, though is that the new systems have Room Zoom for $0.01.

Say it isn't so . . . I have a $4 one coming from EBgames (any day) and I finally wanted to trade one of those bad boys in . . . at least I can still return it to EB.

Thats odd, I got 26 for it just last week, and they were using the new computer system.

July 1, 2005
Orange Park Mall FYE
Orange Park, FL

$9.00 PS2 NCAA March Madness 2005
$22.50 XBX Shadow Ops: Red Mercury

NCAA was free at Best Buy (only $5 game they have, unfortunately), and I got Shadow Ops clearanced at Target for $3-ish. Pretty low capital investment to return.

They didn't have either of the games I was looking for, Meteos and Riviera, so I placed an order for them. I'm sure Meteos will have a good chance of being shipped to the store, but I have serious doubts about Riviera. Anyone with stores with better video game stock see any Riviera, or should I just buy it somewhere else?

What system is it for, dude? I'm happy to check a couple stores around me for you.
What system is it for, dude? I'm happy to check a couple stores around me for you.
I'm pretty sure that's for GBA.
Darn, I still have 1 Room Zoom left, I hope I can still find a FYE that will take it and not lowered the value
The stores that are giving $0.01 might just be packed full w/used copies. I remember reading somewhere a while back that their computer system marks overstocked games as $0.01.

I haven't traded a Room Zoom since March though, so I may be wrong.

This whole system changeover from credit to cash prices really pisses me off. There are a couple employees at the local Wherehouse that I trade at that will constantly give me the wrong price. Unlike a bunch of you I'm not getting the +25%, I'm getting the cash price for credit, or -20%. I've fought it before, but today I was in a hurry and wanted to pick up a used copy of 24 season 3 that I'd seen there. I asked the cashier that had just screwed me out of ~$15 credit if they had it, and she went out and grabbed a new copy, which was marked $79.99! The used copy was already gone. Bah.

That and I decided to check out the copy of Star Ocean that I've had sitting around this weekend before trading it in and the trade-in value dropped from ~$24 to $7.50! Granted, the drop was way overdue, but what crappy timing.

wow... FYE is INSANE, i worked it all out, and if i can transfer all 200 of my ebgames over to FYE with some nice profit on the games (transworld surf, malice, egg mania) i can turn that into 300

Tried Malice today and it didn't come up by scanning the UPC code. Of course, it was with a manager who then proceeded to tell me they couldn't accept anything that didn't scan... :(

I traded in some spare games I had laying around...

Wherehouse.com said $10 for GGX2 but I got $8...other than that wherehouse was accurate for me.

PS2 -
Guilty Gear X2 - $8 (worth $10-20 on Ebay but I didn't feel like messing around with paypal/ebay/shipping/etc...I'm busy)

Gamecube:
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance - $7.50
Soul Calibur II - 7.50

BTW for people with it laying around, the old version of the Clerks DVD has a trade-in value of $7.50!!

P.S. - I was offered only store credit.

I'm trying to build up some credit to buy a DS. Thx for the thread and for the input. Much better values overall than EBGames, even if I have a little less purchasing power with FYE credit in general.

Well, the nearest FYE for me is about 30 miles (40 minutes or so) away from home, about 25 minutes away from work.

But I go to college there during the fall/winter, and I was there today to take my wife to Olive Garden for dinner for her B-day...it's also the city with the nearest Olive Garden.

A Wonderful Life (GC) is 17 at FYE...quite surprised cuz i bought it for 20 at BB new, played it for a month, and now its like i rented it for 3 dollars.
