2005 FYE Trade-in Prices LIST HERE *Mods Please Lock*

Looking at wherehouse.com I see that there are 2 different Malice listings for Xbox. One is not being accepted, the other is offering a high trade-in price. Any idea how difficult it is to find one over the other?
i've checked with all my local eb games and they all say they don't sell Mailice, Room Zoom, Sneakers, or V-Rally 3. Does anyone know where i can get these games?
My local FYE has a grip of them for sale? ;)

my fye is screwing me with trade in values, they offer me a flat $5 off what the computer says, meaning for some games they say they will only take it for free!

Deffinitely find a new store. That stores manager has probably taken it upon himself to keep trade in values down. Some just check their inventory and dont take in more if they already have 1 copy. What theyre doing is kind of rediculous, you could write an email to their headquarters asking if it violates their company policy, but other then that you cant really do much

What the hell? take it for free, how can someone even offer that. That's absurd for a store to take a game for free.

Next time they say "We will only take this game for free", say "Sure, if you shove it up your ass".

Or say you'll give it to them for free, but then swap it with a game with a dog turd in it.

CONFIRMED: CHEAPEST XBOX360 SYSTEM WILL BE AT FYE!!!!

I went to 2 Fye's today & both had signs by the register saying they will be getting the system. Didn't see these 2 weeks ago when i went.

Reason i say "cheapest xbox360" is becuase i have $400 in credit set aside for the system & it only cost me roughly $120 to get it. I'm pretty sure most of the posters in this thread have a similar story. :)

I don't have any fye credit left and most of the 'magic' games are finally being de-valued or not accepted. I just hope TRU or Best Buy has some clearance sale with $0-5 ps2/xbox/gc games soon!

Even still, this is fye and some stores will certainly force a bundle on you.

One of my FYE's wouldnt let my convert my merch credit to a gift card....said everytime that happens a district manager calls because that throws up a red flag. Boo.

What sucks is that it appears that FYE.com combined with Buy.com so they sell A LOT more than just music, movies and games online. They now sell a lot of different electronics. If I could get a gift card with my credit, there would be so much more to buy

i have about $250 right now with gift cards. Guess ill save it for online stuff.
Spent about $50 on there to preorder Harry Potter and SmallVille S4 when they have a %15 off coupon.
I got to start going to fye and trade in games :).
Try it and see what the employees are like . . . I think I'm going to steer clear.

I can't stand the store or most of the employees . . . the promise of big credit is eclipsed by the hassle and high prices.

I agree, if you can stomach the place getting a 360 for $150 would be a nice payout . . . but I could get one from EB for $200 and not feel so dirty.

i am wondering, gamecrazy says they "guarantee the highest trade in values." Has anyone tried matching FYE/wherehouse.com's prices with gamecrazy I don't have the balls to do it since I am on good terms with my gc's manager and buying a transworld surf from them for $10 and then trading it right back in for $27 might piss him off a bit.

Forget it, I tried. I was completely prepared, screen shots of the web page and everything. After reminding the clerk that they price matched, he called his manager, who ok'd it. He then saw the price differences, called his manager again, and refused to do the match. I have had some success price matching GR flyer prices at GS, this can work well towards the end of the GR flyer expiration date. As the games can often be picked up cheaply somewhere else B2G1 Free, that kind of thing.

You may have luck price matching within a few dollars of what they would normally offer, but forget any big gains. There was another thread that actually suggested that GC was going to end their price matching policy because of GR's high trade in values.

Well obviously they're not going to go for it if you buy it from them and then turn it right back in. Try buying it from one GameCrazy store and trading it into another I guess, or coming back when a different person is working or something. I've had rare successes having GC match, but most of them look at the prices and renege on their policy. Bullshit yes since that's their written policy, but most of them won't do it.

Has anyone traded in Bloodrayne 2 recently? On wherehouse.com it says 23.75, so hopefully FYE will give this much for the game, since it can be found at CC for only $10.
Traded 2 Bloodraynes in just last week.
You traded 2 of the same system?

I traded in 2 as well, last week - for BOTH PS2 and XB... I kept 1 copy of BR2 on XB for my library - it's actually pretty fun.

Over the last couple of weeks at 3 FYE's and 1 Wherehouse:

Lupin the 3rd $26.00 (2)
Shadow Ops $22.xx (2)
Thief $17.50 (2)
World Tour Soccer 2005 $22.xx (2)
Battle Engine Aquila $18.xx
Destruction Derby Arenas $17.50 (2)
MvC2 XB $26.25 (funny story to come)
Baten Kaitos $11.25
Army Men RTS $32.xx (2)

The reason I traded in that MvC2 (XB) to Wherehouse is because I knew that I'd be able to go back a few days later and get it for free because of the B3G1 on used stuff that's been going on all year there. I opted out of the used games (selection sucked) and got NCAA '06 (XB), 512 mb memory card for my PSP, GTA:SA (XB) and last but not least that copy of MvC2 that I'd traded in just a few days before. The funny thing about it is that the game that I traded-in for $26.25 sold for $24. I just thought that was wierd.

:applause:

I haven't been trading in much stuff to fye during the past few months but I'm gonna have a field day (again) when we start getting cheapass deals on the next gen games.

Yes to two different stores, though. I also traded in GunGriffon for 23$ that EB is selling for 10$.

I have over 400$ in credit so I'm in a bit of a holding pattern until I can preorder the 360.
I've gotten to the point where I don't buy things to trade into FYE unless its a 300% return.
Pooky--I'm the same way now adays. The only time I break from that rule is when I find a deal on something that I know the cash-paying FYE will take... then I'm content to 'just' double my money, since I get paid in cash on the spot :)

I just bought an xbox Malice.. wanted to sell it back to Wherehouse.com
But the one they buy back for 27.50 has a different pic and UPC... anyone know what's going on?

I don't know why I go to FYE . . .

but I traded in Metroid Prime 2 for $26.25 . . . this was my personal copy (bought for $16.88 with a raincheck substitution at Target last fall :) ) because I have a $15 copy on the way from EB.com . . . but my EB credit makes that MP2 more like $7 out of pocket.

Flipping from EB to FYE gives me a pretty good multiplier.

I have about $140 in credit now . . . don't know what I'll do with it.

Maybe I'll keep trying to turn these little tricks with the idea of getting a Revolution system next spring (I have no interest in getting a 360 at launch)

My theory: Malice was originally supposed to be a launch title for the XBox. It then got delayed for nearly three years. I think the UPC for the $27.50 is for the "launch" version of the game that never got released. If you look on wherehouse.com you will see they offer trade in value to other unreleased games for various systems.

On a side note, I had no trouble trading in Malice on Monday to an FYE for $27.50. The UPC didn't scan but the employee searched by name and the next thing I saw was $27.50 on the cash register :)

Jackpot...

I preordered the xbox 360 today at my local wherehouse. 50$ down. It just became available.

A few good trades as well:

XBX-TRON 20
XBX-Showdown wrestling 22$ (This was was rejected by a different manager last week, for a suspicious looking line.. What a jackass)
XBX-Kingdom under Fire 20
XBX-OutRun 20 (This kills me as it's 20$ new)

If your inclined you can also make money from EB, they have Steel Battalion new for 9$ (without controller), sells for 20$, and the Capcom Fighting game that is free after rebate, sells for 17$ as well. So you can make some easy money if your so inclined.

I traded in Bloodrayne 2 (PS2) today and they gave me $29.xx! Apparently, this store just got converted to a new computer system and I think the new system automatically converted the trade in value to credit because the initial amount it rang up for was $23.75. The employee then added an additional 25% to it to bring it up to $29.xx. I'm guessing with the new system the employees don't have to add the extra 25% anymore.

i have a CD that trades into Wherehouse.com for 18.75 or something.

The Wrens - Secaucus.
I was going thru cds that i wouldn't mind losing and their trade-in values. Saw that and was like 'WHOA'. Then i found out that the cd is OOP, and it sells for 50-60 on eBay used.
So, the trade in values are usually the same at wherehouse.com and fye b&m? I've been wondering that for some time.
Yes, more or less...I noticed some fye/wherehouse mark down there stuff $5 down from the website but others are exactly like the site... Some give the option of cash but that's YMMV.

Either way, using the site is a good indicator.

Wherehouse.com and FYE generally line-up; for me, wherehouse.com and the wherehouse stores are actually less likely to match :) Still, using the website is right almost all of the time...

A couple of easy money makers

Xbx Alias 4.99 at EB, 15$ at wherehouse
DS Ping Pal's 2.99 at EB, 7.50 at wherehouse

I know not the best, but an easy 14$ profit for little effort.

Just a heads up for anyone in the south-east Florida area -- I noticed that the FYE at the Coral Springs mall had a used copy of Cubivore for GC for $36.99. (already had a copy otherwise I would have snagged it)

You traded in BK for 11 bucks? that game is a masterpiece!
Colin McRae Rally 3 for XBox is down to $1.00 cash or $1.25 credit on the new computer systems.
Just wondering, does FYE get "new computer systems" like every 2 weeks or something? I mean, what's the deal???

It seems like it, this system was different from any new upgrades. For the credit slip, they give you a paper that lists the trade ins, and then the actual credit slip that just lists the total and has to be signed by the manager. It also looks different. I don't think it's a problem but I hope they can accept the old credit slips without any issues.

If anyone has the cinematic autrocity "Ocean's Twelve" on DVD it'll land you $11.25. My girlfriend let me trade hers in and I was pleasently surprised they give top dollar for garbage. Here's a few others on DVD and a few games.

DVD
Taxi Driver $7.50
Donnie Darko $5.62
Big Fish $6.25
Gladiator $9.37
Pink Floyd the Wall $8.75
Korn Live $7.50

PS2
Prince of Persia $7.50
Prince of Persia Warrior Within $11.25

The old and new will continue to work. Or so I was told.

Good to hear, I didn't think it would be a problem but it's better knowing it should work.

Also, forgot to mention this in the my post yesterday but they have some great deals going on now. Fuji CDR's and 24 pack Maxell AA batteries are both free after rebate. A good way to get rid of some excess credit and get cash back (depending on how much you spend to get credit, it could be like they are paying you to take a free after rebate item).

And they also have all not on sale and less than $32.99 DVD's, both new and used, buy 1 get 1 50% off.

Malice Xbox - $22
XII PS2 - $7.50
Gran Turismo 4 PS2 - $21
Army Men Sarge's War GCN - $27 or $7.78 depending on SKU
Army Men RTS GCN - $26
Dinotopia Xbox - $19
Urban Street Soccer GCN - $17

EDIT: Can someone tell me what's the difference between Urban Street Soccer and Freestyle Street Soccer? They clearly appear to be the same game, as my games I got from Blockbuster are called Freestyle Street Soccer, but in FYE's system and in Blockbuster.com's info on the game, it's called Urban Street Soccer.

These are FYE game prices that I can confirm after calling them on the phone. And I shall certainly take advantage of these insane deals. Especially since I picked up 3 copies of the soccer game for $10 total at Blockbuster, and XIII was free at Best Buy.
