Sooner or later I knew these exploding sticks would cost someone a playoff game.

Wings were sloppy but with around 15 penalties per game so far it's a tough series to watch.
My neighbor is convinced that Bettman and the refs treat Detroit unfairly compared to the other teams in the playoffs. Only 1 day of rest between series, etc.

I didn't get a chance to watch the third period last night as I got called in to work, but it's nice to see that the PIM stats got drastically distorted in the third period and gave San Jose the opening to take the game.

1 out of 4 (Really 2 and a half, because we had an 11 second PP as well as a 40 second PP) to a 2/10 (Which turned out to be close to 18 minutes in all) is a bit of a joke. I mean...it didn't even just start in the third period...Slashing 40 seconds in on a GOALIE?! Really?! I'm glad I didn't see the third period because I would have felt like I was watching an NBA game. It's tough to get mad at your guys for not fighting for a puck when the refs blow a penalty any time you do.

I do think it's possible that we take four out of the next 5, but it's pretty disappointing to see that even Babcock is saying something about the officiating now. They showed a replay on the highlights this morning of him just laughing because he knew the refs screwed Bertuzzi on his penalties, and they also showed him making a diving gesture to the San Jose players.

I hope San Jose collapses against you guys but they are looking more and more determined this year not to choke. The officiating in this year's playoffs has been abysmal. It's unfortunate that the best sport in the world is being fucked over by this ridiculous excuse for officiating.

Also it is too bad that Bertuzzi's shitty reputation continues to haunt him. It always made me sad to watch him hold back on the physical play that made him so amazing back in his glory days simply because any time he would turn up the intensity, he'd get a (usually) bad call against him and sent to the penalty box.

Oh Bert.... why oh why did you have to fall apart like that........
How does Ryan Miller not even get nominated for the Hart trophy?
because its the hart. they always get the shaft. only 7 have ever won it, none in damn near 10 years.

Your neighbor is wrong. The idiots who run the Shark tank booked the building over the weekend. No conspiracy or other crap. Sometimes games and or series just have terrible officiating. This series is a prime example so far. At the start this one had all the makings of a very entertaining matchup. Two teams that score a decent amount and move the puck up ice but so far this thing has turned into a conga line to the box and stoppages. Everytime you get some flow going either there is a penalty or they have a clock malfuntcion. Seriously Shark tank employees please learn how to operate a clock sometime soon.

Some of what I saw on NHL on the fly were really bad and it pains me that real life hockey continues to make EA look more accurate in their game, but... wow. Wings a bit high on themselves much. lol
Are you seriously defending Bertuzzi?:whee:
His reputation preceeds him. He's made some super huge mistakes but after watching him in Vancouver for all those years I've seen him called on a lot of shit that he should have been called on, or at the very least the opposition needs to be held to the same standard. It's just one of those cases where a player's reputation is far worse (even taking the Moore incident into account) than the reality.

Also I never posted that picture so dunno why I'm quoted as posting it.

Just saw that even VS, the shittiest hockey network ever, called the officiating a joke, and specifically referenced the Bertuzzi calls.

It's hilarious, it really is. Almost about as much as the San Jose "I'm making jaws with my hands like an idiot." power play garbage.
after watching him in Vancouver for all those years
When he was playing with Naslund he was one of the best power forwards to play the game. The dude was the rare combination of a big man who could really skate and had a wonderful set of hands. This Bertuzzi while somewhat effective when he moves his feet is a shell of the player you remember.

Where can I find these penalties everybody speaks of? I can't locate them on google or youtube. Official highlights don't show them. I really want to see these. Oh and Kronwall totally hooked Setoguchi who then pulled a Lappiere.

I expect a more tenacious Hawks team tonight. I hope they dress Eager. They need some more energy tonight and the rest of the series.

I expect them to come out and play tough tonight in front of the home crowd. Its going to take a full effort though. The Nucks had it rolling big time in game 1.

They're just trolling.

It's pretty tough to refute the fact that PIM stats in this series are incredibly lopsided, and San Jose has eaten shit against us all year. They haven't beaten us in regulation once this season, but when the refs are calling penalties like they did last night, whoever the calls are sided toward had better pick up the W.

Wings just need to push through it and play their game. We'll even it up at the Joe, I'm confident. San Jose is far from great on the ice, and Nabby worse at even strength than Howard is.

It'll go 7 games.
On Saturday, I stood up and yelled at the tv at the bar "Goddamn Sedins!"
God damn them straight to the fucking cup! :bouncy:

A lot of shitty calls went both way.

The Red Wings night was summed up in one single play.

Red Wings had :15 seconds left on their power play.

Marleau has the puck and brushes off two dudes to get the Sharks back to five players.

Patrick fuckING Marleau held off two Wings.

Basically sums up the night.

Just an example of referee's blowing the whistle based upon the end of the play rather than what actually happens in the play. It's been like this all playoffs though. I feel like they blow the whistle based more on how the crowd reacts rather than the actual game.

But hey. I'm a Red Wings fan....so that means I'm complaining. :D

I have no problems with you guys dishing out your childish taunts, but if you can't take your own medicine it ain't my problem. I've been more than fair about my team, maybe harsher on them than any other team...
Christ, I hope NHL on the fly gets that on tape. Stupid work internet...
I'm sure it will be there. Even the announcers were talking about it. "He's telling anyone that will listen!"

stuck at work for the next 90 minutes :/ im listening to the game on my iphone. cant find a legit feed online, there may be one but many sites are blocked so my choices are limited.

disallowed goal already, couldnt see it but the radio announcers were pretty convinced it was a no brainer call.
What are you using Wunder radio? iPhone fail, I can get 98.5 on my Palm Pre.
good for your palm, im listening to 98.5 too.

Didn't see it on NOTF. :(
Sharks tie it up.....I have no idea how.
i do, they completely outworked the wings in the 3rd period. if they can keep this up the game is there. but i think the wings will come out very strong in OT.
