I don't hate basketball, but as I've gotten older and busier and thus have to be pickier and choosier about how I spend my "hobby times" sports not involving my teams have been one of the things to get the ax.

Forum posting is the one that really should get the ax though! I've cut way back form past years ,but still have a long way to go on that front.
 
Bynum's knee has apparently refilled with fluid after being drained yesterday. Says he's going to play but I would think he'd be limited by that.
 
im happy about this re match. i like the lakers and kobe wants revenge! lets go lakers! i'll be placing some nice bets on this finals.

I don't know how the Lakers guard Ray Allen and Rondo with Kobe and Fisher. Best thing for them might be Kobe on Rondo, but I wouldn't feel good about Fisher guarding Allen if I were a Lakers fan. Either way, Kobe will have to put in the work on defense this series.

Thats the conundrum my friends and I have been tossing about this past week.

Fisher's gonna get blown by Rondo, or scored on by Allen. Kobe's going to have to be a beast on defense. The match up of Artest on Pierce helps him out a bit, but he/they still have two big offensive threats to worry about. The only reason they didn't worry about Allen in 08 was because he wasn't getting his shots to sink during the playoffs, but you can't say that this year.

As an NBA fan, I must begrudgingly admit that I agree with this. I've been watching the playoffs and these are the two best teams in the post season. Aside from the history, it is very fitting that they meet in the Finals. And the Finals should be pretty darn good.

Although I am not watching it because frankly I dont care to go through the extra media coverage for two teams that dominate the media already. They are the two best teams in the play offs so its fitting they meet.

But its a damn shame that it took all the way up to the finals to get a decent match up. This year was filled with some of the worst play I have seen in post season.

I wouldn't call the series good just yet. For all we know (and I pray), a team could be swept.
 
gonna have to pause the game in about the middle of the third quarter, my kid has a baseball game. If anyone ruins the outcome for me I'm gonna strangle them

He reinjured his knee in Game 1 of the Orlando series and hasn't looked the same. I thought they played better with Big Baby on the floor, but when he's in they have a problem with the Lakers' length.

Ray Allen never got going and was taken out of the game by the cheap fouls. Pierce had 23 points but Artest did enough to keep him from carrying them.
 
I saw fewer cheap fouls in the second half, but I think you could easily discount at least four fouls on each side. The whistles were way too quick in the beginning, and the game never caught up.

Was that when KG was shoved into Van Gundy? Maybe not but that didn't help.

It's too bad that the refs took Ray Allen out of the game that really hurt them, especially their flow and spacing. He was out during the first half and then barely played the 2nd half. Bullshit calls, he did not make half the fouls he was called for, especially that one on Kobe where he didn't touch him with his body nor his hand.

The Celtics played like shit and there were some crap calls, yet they still only lost by 13 with a last second Lakers 3. I get the feeling the NBA wanted the Lakers to have game 1 this time around to get a long series. The Celtics have a lot of room for improvement. I just hope they take game 2 and then get the home court treatment by the refs in games 3-5.

Sorry, but after halftime, that game was not close. The fact that it was "only" 13 points at the end (10 if you want to discount the 3) is misleading. The Lakers dominated the 3rd quarter, and every time the Celtics tried to cut it under 10 in the 4th, the Lakers pushed it back to 15.

Yes, there were a lot of B.S. fouls, but they went both ways. Ray Allen just took the brunt for the C's, which is unfortunate, but haven't they always managed to find a way to win when one of the big 3 is off? KG wasn't KG, Pierce was decent but slowed by Artest, and Rondo was pretty quiet. The Lakers played good defense and the Celtics legitimately lost this one.

That said, I expect the Celtics are going to come out gunning in game 2, and if they don't win, it will at least be close.
 
I love watching the Celtics lose. The game wasn't close at all - the Lakers dominated the 3rd quarter and every time the Celtics went on a little run the Lakers kept them at bay. Gasol is awesome. That little jump hook he does is ridiculous.
 
That was great. Phil Jackson apparently started yelling at the interviewer too. I'll bet money that Chris Rock has made a Kobe rape joke at some point and Kobe doesn't seem like the forgiving type.

Joe Crawford always calls ticky tack fouls and interferes in the game. The Celts weren't the only one with crap fouls, the Lakers got a bunch of absurd shit called on them too. Fisher was riding the pine after a couple of minutes.

Paul Pierece locked Artest up too so they were both at fault. Celts got straight up rocked... and Garnett was scared like a little bitch. Those cocky bastards got what they asked for... 'nuff said. Referees made shitty calls on both ends, but at the same time they're trying to set the tone for this series.

Any speculation on Danny Ferry? Maybe he knows James won't re-sign, and he'll be the one to catch the most heat for it. Or perhaps Lebron wants to handpick a new GM. Or maybe he was just plain ol' fired.

Apparently it was a mutual agreement between Ferry and owner Dan Gilbert. Regardless, either LBJ goes all Pete Carroll on the Cavs and pretty much gets total control of all operations (more or less) OR he leaves for Chi-Town. That's really the only 2 options I see between July 1 and August 1.

You're forgetting about the KNICKS!!! He isn't going to want to go to Chicago because he'd have to win 7 titles to escape MJ's shadow. I think NY/NJ are his two best options - if he leaves Cleveland. An extra $30M is nothing to sneeze at.
 
I always thought that Mike Brown's success was largely a product of the good player(s) he had, so I wasn't surprised that he was fired. Even though Danny Ferry's success as a GM was largely a product of Dan Gilbert's willingness to spend money I think he did a good job outside of the disastrous 2005 signings.

Celtics cut it to 10 at the end, minus Kobe's uncontested buzzer 3. They kept cutting into the lead the whole 4th. The Celtics played a lot better in the 4th and it wasn't like the Lakers were using the bench instead or laying off them.

Ray Allen barely played the 2nd half at all. He played 27 min the whole game. That fucked them over. They really need him when they're playing the Lakers. Allen got screwed more than anyone. Half the calls on him were bogus. They legitimately lost, but if Allen got stay in the game in the first half and the 2nd half things could've been a lot different.

Lakers made their huge run when he was out. Allen could not get into any rhythm, same with some other players due to that, it hurt their offensive spacing and cost them a handful of buckets, and hurt them on defense costing them a handful of buckets. You add those up and the game is at least tied.

Gasol is a big flopping goofball who is only good because of his height. Big deal he can hit a mini hook shot 4 feet from the basket. Like that is something to be impressed by.

Rasheed is obvious about what he does and takes the call, he doesn't give a fuck. I was talking about this game though not every game. Besides from what I've seen the Celtics are physical but not always grabbing on jerseys, shorts, flopping around, and half nelsoning people to the ground.

I could care less about either team. Like I said earlier, I hope one team blows out the other team. In fact, I think it would be great to see Wade, Bosh, and Lebron all take pay cuts to end up in Miami together. For these two things, I feel David Stern would finally take action on his refs, rules, and league.

As for your complaining about flops, the Celtics have a bunch of those too. Baby Davis flops all the time. Let alone Paul Pierces acting jobs on the offensive standpoint. Rasheed is known for technicals for a reason. Not to mention KG's killer elbows... he is the dirtiest player in the game.

Davis flops but he does it when he's actually hit. He doesn't flop down when a player's back is at him and try to pull that player down with him. Pierce is a smart offensive player at drawing fouls and his acting helps. All players act like that, he just does it better and more. Rasheed has issues yes. KG is like Rasheed in that he is obvious about what he does. I'd rather have players that exaggerate normal behaviors than do some of the shit Artest and Gasol do.
