200GB HD $59AR at Staples

I'm 99.999% sure that it's a Maxtor since they use the description ATA/133. That would also mean it has a 1 year warranty. Not bad for the price though. Even after tax, it's around 34 cents per gig. I tried to place an order but OOS for my zip code.

one of my friends bought one and it is indeed a maxtor drive, he also alerted me that there is a 250gb 16mb cache drive for 93 if you price match from the compusa ad, not a bad deal but is the extra 50 gb and the extra 8mb of cache really worth the extra money, id say no. and as a note, if any of you are looking at getting a new hard drive, i used some of my reward zones certs and got a sata drive, and it is crazy fast. i would totally recommend getting sata drives instead of IDE cause they are only a couple bucks more
just a thought

with the dvd burner you might as well spend the extra 15 and get the NEC 3500a for 55. you can get it for that a couple of places online
find them at pricewatch.com

also they do make IDE to sata adapters which only run 10-15 bucks
the extra speed totally makes it worth it
with the sata drive i move several gigs of music almost instantly(maybe not instantly but the moving box popup barely has time to pop up its so fast)

with the pricematch, compusa has the drive on sale for 100 no rebates, so if you pricematch it at say circuit city or whereever they do 110% which works out to 93 and some change out the door
with the 200 gig, i thought there was a rebate
i may be mistaken but i thought i worked it out to 93 for 250 16mb cache maxtor
or 83 for the 200gb with rebate
so i guess just a heads up

I'm pretty sure that this was a sale only for last week. That being the case, it's over, hence - no more drive.
