24 TV Series/Movie Discussion: Season 8 DVD/BluRay out 12/7/10 | 24 Movie COMING SOON

Solid episode this week. But damn Dana's story is still lame. I really hope that doesn't get drug out too much longer as it's a very low point in what's shaping up to be an otherwise strong season.

Yeah I agree. Also, I do not really like how they set up Renee's
previous undercover work for the Russians. If she had all that shit happen to her while undercover 5 years ago, then why the hell was she so calm and by the books during last season and now completely off the wall? I was fine accepting her as being off the wall now before I learned about what happened while undercover, but this new stuff is complete BS.

Well that didn't bother me too much.

She's off the wall because of torturing the guy. Despite being throw all that she remained tough and did things by the books. So by stooping to the level of basically the people who had abused her in the past, she snapped.

Wow, no posts yet on last night's episode? You guys must have felt the same way I did about it. To me, it was the worst episode so far this season. Not much really happened, action-wise.

The Renee stuff was okay for character development, but it was uncomfortable to watch. The Dana subplot is finally starting to get a bit interesting. I'm hoping Freddie Jr ends up giving the redneck what he deserves. The President stuff going on now is pretty boring, to me at least.

It would be the worst episode of the season...except for the fact that
Jack donned some Harry Potter glasses and activated German Mode, which automatically made this episode the best episode of any show in the history of mankind.

Ya, Jack vas goooooood!

I especially liked how any pretense of a German accent went out the window after he ripped apart the henchmen.

I'm just sad Renee whored herself out to that guy....yeah, it was in the line of duty, but still....

Agree. German Jack with glasses was awesome.

It was ok, mainly because we saw Jack finally get back into the middle of this threat and assert his badass behavior.

I get the feeling that Arlo guy (or whatever his name is) is going to blackmail Dana into giving him some action in exchange for his silence. He has been dropping sexual advances all season long and now he will have something over her to use as he pleases. As long as the storyline wraps up soon, I don't really care.
The Dana subplot is finally starting to get a bit interesting.
I'm really hoping she doesn't make it through the season. I find her character very annoying.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like Dana at all. In all the seasons of 24, I don't think I've ever cared less about a storyline than this stupid crap with Dana. This storyline needs to end ASAP.

Exactly how I feel. I'm dismayed the writers thought it was a good plotline, because it just seems really stupid to me, like the writers just made up something to have another story going on.

Agreed

Yeah, I'm with you guys. I'm enjoying the season for sure, but Dana's plot line is fucking terrible and I hope it ends soon as well.

Been really bored with the season so far. I never mind 24 if it repeats plot elements as long as there is adrenaline fueled momentum, which the lack thereof killed my love of the show with the horrid season six. I do LOVE Renee Walkers character makeover. It's great to see her in more of the unhinged S2 Jack Bauer mode to Jacks George Mason. Katie Sackoff is so goddamn hot. It's so crummy she has such a lame side plot. Still loving every even numbered season dealing with islamic extremists.

what happened with
jack getting stabbed?
That lasted for what....5 seconds before he was completely over it?

I kinda like it. I just hope there's a good payoff.

I wonder if Jack is gonna bring back the long beard after
all that torture
myl0r, you better spoiler that for people that DVR the episode.
I guess Renee missed any major organs?
whoops. hopefully I fixed that before any damage was done.

Throwing a pebble at Superman
- That's the closest comparison I can think of to Jack getting shiv'd in the gut. He brushed it off like it was nothing and harpooned Lugo right in the throat. Just when I think Renee is the runaway beast of the season, Jack does something like this and TOTALLY REDEEMS HIMSELF.

Kevin & The Stoner:
They were DUIing after getting away with the loot, so I foresee Kevin crashing that van into a light post...a block away from where the rods are being stowed. Deus Ex Machina FTW
Good episode even the Dana stuff didn't ruin it much.
It's still terrible. There is no way they'd let a federal employee get away with being so unfocused on a major task as Dana is. This has carried on over several hours now, it's just absurd, even for 24 standards. Otherwise the episode was great and the preview looked
as if the Dana story will at least start to get some closure
.

This episode was pretty good IMO. The Dana storyline is finally going somewhere, and we got to see Jack be all bad-ass yet again! The son taking the nuclear rods is pretty hilarious. Does he really expect to not get killed as soon as they are delivered, lol.

That's the problem, it's still going. That shit needed to be canned when the season was still in pre-production. It is in all honesty the single worst storyline in any season of 24 imo. I hate it and it makes me hate this season.

I really hope the Dana storyline ends in the next few episodes. However, despite that I still enjoy watching the show because Jack is the man.

Progress man, PROGRESS!!! Up until this episode it has been absolute garbage, and now we at least have a more defined direction for the story, which should hopefully lead to some kind of confrontation. Granted it has no shot at turning out to be a great story, but looking at what we've had to sit through previously, this was a welcomed change.

That field ops kid they kept showing with Cole

Firstly, he looks like a high school freshman. Secondly, is he a Russian plant? They kept doing solo shots of him, so I think the 24 crew wants us to believe he's some kind of mole, but in the end, he'll be a decoy like Meridith Reed.

Aren't you being a bit harsh? I think Kevin easily manages to rank above Mountain Lion in the grand list of terrible 24 villains.

Nope mountain lion was better. He was a much better actor and wasn't a hick.

I'm thinking he's going to die a tragic death in the line of duty. That was my first thought once I saw the second solo shot of him.

I thought that at the first shot of him having his thing buckled up. I said to my mom "He's young and inexperienced, this is probably his first op. He's going to die bad."

I totally thought the kid was going to be the one to open up the back of the truck and get killed immediately, with Cole crying over his dead body after they took down the bad guys.

So glad that stupid storyline is done with!! Tonight just felt like they were setting up for the second half of the season.
Kind of stupid for Cole not to see the gun in her hand earlier I thought.

It is probably not truly done with. Cole is probably gonna be pissed at how Dana/Jenny was holding the dude, and we didn't see for sure if he died. The Renee thing seemed like a lame way of getting Jack fully committed, but as long as he is there I don't really care. If this is Jack's last season on the show (I remember reading that they might want to make Cole the new 24 guy), I get the feeling that either Renee or Kim is going to be killed, since it would seem odd for him to ride off into the sunset with Renee considering how things always end up bad for him.

Yeah, I've been kind of having it in the back of my mind that Renee might get killed at the end of this season, but I sure hope not. They oughta just let Jack ride off into the sunset with her if he's done after this season. I know, it's not the 24 writer's way to do that, but still. And I actually like Freddie-Cole alot more than I thought I would when he was announced as a cast member, so I wouldn't have a problem if he continued as the lead agent. He'll never be Jack, but I'd still watch.

So Jack is going to have a CTU agent take Renee back to his apartment...that's got abduction written all over it.

Tarin
He is either actually involved with the terrorists and/or is going to lead Kayla right to them to use as leverage.

Good episode tonight. It's probably the best one so far this season, other than the ones from the two-night premiere. It actually is starting to feel like 24 again.

I was thinking he was actually involved while watching tonight but we'll see. That seems too obvious.

agreed! Last night during the episode I was thinking how this season, and even last, havn't left me with that "OMG WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN NEXT WEEK!!!!!" feeling like it used to have.
Then
That guy brings a bomb strapped to his chest. IMO, the episode should have cut off there, it would have been waaaaay more suspenseful than how they end it.
But that's just my take on it. Good episode still though.
