People have reported that this works in-store, as well as another option of buying three gift sets and getting a $50 GC. The $50 GC w/3 sets option only works in-store and not through BestBuy.com for in-store pickup.

I didn't see this deal posted, and I just sort of stumbled into it on BestBuy.com when looking to pick up the X-Men movie collection on BR.

Apparently, they have a deal that they'll give you a free $25 GC for the purchase of two giftsets, which include DVD and Blu-Ray titles. Only wrinkle is that the GC has to be shipped out from BestBuy.com and can't be picked up in-store.

All of the gift sets are $39.99 and up.

It seems to insinuate that you need to have the movies shipped, though it's not the case. I did in-store pickup for the two giftsets and the card get shipped out via USPS mail.
This is an awesome deal! Thanks!
Yes thank you! I bought both the Outer Limits Complete Series and Millennium Seasons 1-3.

This works in-store as well. I picked up the Funny Guy Collection on Blu for myself and the Alien/Predator Megadeath Pack...thing on DVD for my father.

I can confirm that the deal is also good in-store.
I recently purchased 3 of the listed titles (in OP) in-store and received a $50 GC.

How does that work?

Considering

Funny Guy Collection [3 Discs] (Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite, Young Frankenstein)

Muscle 3-Pack [3 Discs] (Commando, Predator, Aliens vs. Predator)

Action Hero Collection [3 Discs] (The Terminator, The Day After Tomorrow, I, Robot)

PQ on those three movies looked pretty good from reviews on DVDTalk and Blu-Ray.com . I had movies from the other ones you listed.

PQ on the Muscle pack movies isn't that great, from reviews I've read on Commando and Predator.

War Hero collection has some good movies with good PQ, Action Hero movies have good PQ on I, Robot and Day After Tomorrow.

Confirmed, sick.

Also there's the War 3 pack with The Longest Day, Sand Pebbles, and Flyboys, and the Horror 3 pack with Amityville Horror, The Fly, and The Omen.

I just got back from BB and I can confirm that the deal is buy 2, get $25 GC or buy 3 and get $50 GC. I bought the War Hero, Funny Guy and Horror collections and received a $50 GC. Nice find, thanks OP.
lol just buy them get the gc and return them. free $25 from best buy ha
You'll find that either you need to return all three items to get all your money back, or it'll auto-deduct $25 from the return.

Comments like this about "free $25" are what kill promotions like this.

So, you buy three sets... it makes it 23.33 (but I didn't factor in tax) per set. That's pretty awesome. I think I'll get my dad The Funny Man pack. Both of us are pretty big fans of Office Space and Young Frankenstein, and used to watch those movies all the time. The only way that collection could be tailored for our mutual comedic favorites would be to switch out Napoleon for Blazing Saddles.

But now I gotta pick out a couple more sets. I'm thinking of Millenium, but I'm not sure.
Does anyone know if that $50 for 3 works online?
Doesn't appear to work online. All they list is the $25 GC option. I wish they did have the $50 GC option for three sets online, as I had a $25 Digital Coupon I used on the order and couldn't use it in-store.

I had to do the online route, which is where I found the deal from the link off the X-Men Trilogy product page. It's the people that went in-store that found that it worked in-store as well as the buy 3, get $50 GC promotion.
Oh okay, so no one who did the three for 50 gift card deal did in store pick up? Just go, grab 'em and buy them?
You can't get the $50 GC w/3 sets promotion through BBy.com. I did mine with in-store pickup for the $25 GC w/2 sets, though I had to do mine through BBy.com . You have to go in-store and buy them in-store to do $50 GC w/3 sets.
Three titles and you picked up a $50 GC? Nice.
They have been running this promotion for a few weeks now. However, it is not advertised in the printed ads on Sunday, but rather in the insert that BB has in the home theater department.

I picked up the James Bond blu-ray collection, X-men blu-ray Trilogy, and Millenium complete set. Received a $50 BB GC on the spot, which I then used for the $12.99 Fox television series sets that BB was running last week.

I initially purchased only two sets and received a $25 GC. I returned them and they deducted the $25 GC from the refund amount so there is no way to keep a "free" GC (as suggested by minimafiaaj). That was not my intention since I wanted the $50 GC so I returned the two and picked up a third set.

That explains why I didn't see it in the weekly ad post, nor on the online copy of the weekly ad.

does anyone have an idea on when this promotion ends? I'd like to get to a BB to get the $50 g/c before then. I'll probably pick up X-men, outer limits, and Millennium. it's like getting x-men for free almost!
fuck, I wish I would've known about the three + $50. I might've picked up another set :bomb:
Same here. When I ordered, the promotion was only listed as $25 GC for 2 sets.

I did this a couple of weeks back and bought:

-Funny Guy Collection [3 Discs] (Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite, Young Frankenstein)
- Muscle 3-Pack [3 Discs] (Commando, Predator, Aliens vs. Predator)
- Action 3 Pack [3 Discs] (The Transporter, Transporter 2, Jumper)

and got the $50 GC in store on the spot. I immediately applied the card to:

- X-Men Trilogy Pack [9 Discs]
- James Bond Blu-ray Collection 3 [3 Discs] (Goldfinger, Moonraker, World Is Not Enough)
- Best Buy's exclusive Bond set (Quantum of Solace, Man with Golden Gun, License to Kill) [NOT LISTED IN OP]

and got another $50 GC.

All in all I ended up getting these 18 movies for around $200 + a $50 GC for future use. Hell of a deal, I think!

Speaking of this, I'm wondering what Best Buy will do in regards to my order? When I placed the order, both items (Millennium Collection and The Outer Limits) were in stock at the store I selected for pick up. I then received an e-mail stating that Millennium was available to pick up, but The Outer Limits was no longer in stock.

I just received my $25 GC today, and plan on using it when I pick up Millennium. I was given a 1-888 number to contact Best Buy and request another location to pick up the Outer Limits, or to request free shipping.

Which leads to my question. If I decide not to call Best Buy about The Outer Limits, I know they'll cancel the order. I'll receive a credit back to my credit card for the amount of The Outer Limits. However, will they only credit back $25 less if I use the GC without following through on The Outer Limits?

The way I look at it, I've done what was required of me (ordering two DVD sets to receive a $25 GC). It's not my fault that they do not have one of the two items in stock?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Thanks for any input you can provide.
They'll do one of two things:

1) See if the item is available for in-store pickup at another store and have them change that part of the order to in-store pickup at the other store. The last time I had them do that, what they really did was make a new order for that item (with a new CC charge) and cancel out the part of the order for the out of stock item (with a CC credit). Same net effect, though you'll see a second CC charge for it, temporarily.
2) Change the item to free "cheap"/standard shipping from BB.com's warehouse and ship the item out to you. No change in the charge that I can think of, so you wouldn't see a second CC charge.

You do need to call them about it, since if they cancel out The Outer Limits, you'll get $25 deducted from the return value of it, to cover the gift card.

I'd recommend the change of in-store pickup location, if it's not a PITA to do so. Otherwise, I'd have them ship it out.

Thanks for the information. I'll just call them, and request they ship the item to me free. Then again, I could just go and pick up Millennium and ask if they have The Outer Limits in stock when I do. If so, it saves me the trouble of calling them. Of course I would print off my original order e-mail they sent me, plus the e-mails stating that Millennium is in stock and The Outer Limits is not in stock when I go.

Someone in the operations department at your store couldn't find The Outer Limits, so they marked it as "No Pick", which means it's showing as out of stock on BB.com, plus when they did that, it closed out the in-store pickup option for your order for that item at that store. The only way to fix it is to have them ship it to you from BBy.com's warehouse, or shift the order to another store for in-store pickup.

Since you don't have an issue with waiting on it, I'd suggest just waiting it out with the shipping option. No reason to waste the gas and time on it with another store.

Thanks again for the info. I'm going there tonight, so I'll still see if they can go ahead and notify Best Buy's Online department to have them ship The Outer Limits to me. If they're unable to, I'll just pick up Millennium and call Best Buy tomorrow to have The Outer Limits shipped.

I appreciate all your help.

yup, nice deal Onlinei picked up Millennium & Action 3 Pack [3 Discs] (The Transporter, Transporter 2, Jumper) I am waiting for my 25 GC and i plan on going back for 3 more in store. Probably to at least pick up X-Men Trilogy Pack and the marvel 3 pack, i got to work on the 3rd.

As suspected, they were unable to contact Best Buy's Online Department for me. Therefore, I'll have to call them tomorrow to get The Outer Limits shipped to me (even though they had a copy- the employee wouldn't take care of that either- said he could charge me separate for it, but I was afraid I'd be charged for the $25 GC unless I called the 1-888 number). Otherwise, it was a worthwhile experience. And yes it does clearly show $50 GC for 3 DVD sets in store.

I went through this issue a few years ago when they couldn't find a pack of batteries (when they has 2200+ packs of them in-store), and marked the in-store pickup order as No Pick. Eventually, the operations manager managed to fix the issue with No Pick, which is something only managers can do, and once they could, I set up another in-store pickup order and they fulfilled it. Netted a $25 GC for my trouble as well.

I'm not sure if the marking of the order as No Pick makes it impossible to fix that problem on the order, though from what I remember, it does. When there's 0 - 2 copies of the item in-store according to RSS (Retail Store System), it automatically marks the item as not available for in-store pickup, and greys out the pickup option on BBy.com . If the item gets marked as No Pick, no matter how many of them they have, it does the same thing.

Personally, I'd toss in a complaint to BBy corporate about them not being able to find the item for your order, though the store had the item on-hand. That's an issue with their ops employees being clueless and not being able to find the item on the shelf. They had the item, as you could see, though not when the ops rep was supposed to get it. You wasted your time and you should get something for your trouble and their screw-up.

When you call the BBy.com folks, let them know you have a complaint about how it was being handled in-store, and they should shoot you over to someone at BB corp to deal with the issue. If not, let me know and I'll PM you their main # for their corp headquarters, so you can call them directly.
did the x-men trilogy come with all the movie cash too? if so, i'm definately getting in on this.
It did indeed, though you have to be careful when you pick it up.

The movie cash is nothing more than a sticker on the outside of the shrink wrap, so it's sort of easy to remove off the package and not disrupt the shrinkwrap. There might be some that don't have the movie cash on it, so check it when you get it.

Thanks again for the information. I'm satisfied with things overall, and even though I had to call Best Buy today to request they ship The Outer Limits to me (I did mention that it was in stock at the store when I picked up Millennium, but they said they couldn't take care of it for me), the process was very smooth. In fact, the representative I spoke with was very professional, and took care of it for me.

Therefore, I don't feel like my going out to Best Buy yesterday (and leaving with only one of the two items I ordered) was a waste of my time. If I had been given the runaround there, or felt like they just didn't want to deal with me, then I would have no problem requesting that Corporate Headquarters # from you. Once again, thank you for all your insights. More importantly, thank you for bringing this offer to myself and other CAGers' attention.
