CAGiversary!
Just got this in the email today:

"We only do it a few times a year - so, you know it's big! This week only, get 25% off everything - all CDs, DVDs & Games! Just use the promo code
"BIG25DEAL" at checkout. But hurry...this sale ends April 5th!
Your friends at SecondSpin.com"

after that meatspin incident, i dont think i want to go to that site. is it even related? that was horror. thanks to cheapy.
hows the shipping? some stuff looks good after 25% off.
Standard shipping is about $3.00. ($2.95 I think) There is also tax.
are those brand new games? i see tons of old games there.
Everything at SecondSpin is used. That's the reason behind the name of their site. I will update the OP to indicate this.

I ordered some DVDs from then last year when they did this sale and everything came in perfect condition with all the cases. Haven't ordered any games from them though.
Ok, this site is horrible in listing stuff. I would like to browse through their anime or 360 games. Possible? NOPE.... ugh
Quite possible. I looked through the 360 and DS categories sorted by price, and then for the hell of it asked it for every game $1.99 or less. N'Sync's Get to the Show anyone?

I bought a couple of games from them in the past. No problems with the order and the games came complete with box and manual, although the GBA box was a bit beat up. I agree that the website navigation could use some work. You pretty much have to know what you want and then search for it. It's not conducive to browsing

Going to check out wherehouse tonight after work, maybe the discount is good at B&M's? ;)

EDIT: I was there earlier this week and i believe that they said someting about a price drop.
I'm going to have to check this out. Second Spins retail store is here in Denver.
No 25% at the store -
instead 20% off if you buy 4 used items (games, dvds, cds)

Big thanks to the OP! I missed out on the Wherehouse 20% off deal because my stupid giftcard from Transworld was locked due to an order I placed on FYE.com being cancelled. I spoke to a bunch of foreign CSR's (seems redundant doesn't it?) before being directed to the corporate number, where the nice English speaking/understanding people were astonished the giftcard hotline couldn't handle it.

Suffice to say, things weren't straightened out until about an hour ago, but I was able to snag Halo 2 and Buffy: Chaos Bleeds for $25 shipped minus my $10 giftcard = $15 out of pocket. OP, you rule!

Is COD 3 for xbox 360 for $30 after the 25% off a good deal? Plus shipping.
Also, any recs on good xbox games that are compatible on xbox360 that are available? I was thinking of Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden.

I'd say COD3 for $30 is a good deal. I've always found secondspin to be very competitive with their used prices (I was one of the lucky few to get a used Zelda: TP Wii from them for $27 back in January), and then when you throw a 25% off on top of it, you really get a great bargain. Just don't expect lightning fast (or even battery powered) shipping. Their standard shipping time estimates 1-3 weeks...but it also only costs $2.95. Still a fantastic deal if you don't mind waiting.

As far as good BC games, haha, exactly what I got. Halo 2 and Buffy: Chaos Bleeds. I've heard Ninja Gaiden is awesome too though. I just haven't had a chance to play it. Gamespot gave Ninja Gaiden and Buffy a 9.4 and 8.2, respectively, so I guess their both pretty good.

ARGHGH, this and the Play-Asia deal are killing my bank account. Metal Gear Portable OPS and Vice City Stories shipped for $46

What the heck, couldn't resist. Just bought Halo 2 collector's editon and Ninja Gaiden for $31. Thanks OP

Dude...where the hell did you see the Collector's Edition?? Every time I search for Halo on secondspin, all that comes up is "Halo: Combat Evolved" and "Halo 2". It doesn't say Collector's Edition.

It was there when I made the purchase. Not there anymore.

I'm thinking about blind buying the first season of the Sopranos since I should be able to get season 1 for about $30 after tax and shipping.

Sweet deal i just got

:ps2: Summoner 2
:ps2: Breathe of Fire: Dragon Quarter
:ps2: Wild Arms 3
:wii: SSX Blur

for $45+express shipping for TOTAL: $53

AWSOME deal.

Just a heads up, last time they were having this sale I picked up Wave Race for the Cube and The Warriors for PS2. Cheap as heck, but both games were scratched to high hell. Both play very funky. You would think they would at least look at them.

Anyway not happy about it. Maybe just luck of the draw though. They were so cheap it isn't even worth trying to send em back either, too much of a hassle.

I definitely would have let them know about it.
secondspin.com is NOT the same company as wherehouse.com. You are thinking of spun.com.
I thought that they were part of Trans World Entertainment but I guess you are right and they are not. Thank for the correction.

INCORRECT, they are too a part of Transworld Entertainment. I just used my Transworld giftcard on this deal, which is good at Wherehouse, Strawberries, Coconuts, Sam Goody, Specs, Suncoast, FYE, and apparently SecondSpin.

It doesn't say it on the card, but you'd have to be a moron not to notice that Wherehouse and SecondSpin's websites are EXACTLY the same. I just clicked on the "redeem giftcard" link, typed in my numbers, and bam! it worked.

It's strange, though; they both use the same orange "used" sticker, placed in the same location on the case, and they both use the same form-fitting bubblewrap sticky packaging. Perhaps they buy from the same supplier or something?

SecondSpin has never failed me in several years of service. They have a large location here in Costa Mesa, CA, and it is my favorite CD store in the area. I own 20+ CDs from SecondSpin and a number of DVDs (no games), and they were all in perfect condition when I received them.

I just got my copy of Metal Gear PO. UMD in perfect shape as well as the box but no instructions. Also, the shipping label says "Trans World Entertainment"

i will be pissed if my games come without a manual.

I ordered TimeSplitters Future Perfect for the gamecube.

And for those of you wondering about the condition of their games, you shouldn't. I say this because I've sold to secondspin before and they are very anal about the condition of stuff. They rejected a lot of my cd's because of "damaged artwork" when my CDs were in pretty great condition - although I think they just didn't want anymore of the CDs I sent them since they were old. They also returned one of my games to me because of one little scratch (I bought the game used and it was already scratched...Gamestop obviously doesn't care about condition), meaning none of their games should have any major scratches.

For anyone concerned, don't be. I just received my order. PERFECT, mint condition case, manual, and disc. It even came with the insert for the free 48hr xbox live gold trial, unused.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection, the disc has some small, ringlike scratches on the center part of the plastic (where the foil looking xbox 360 logo resides). I didn't think it would be a problem, but the disc does not play. All my other (used and new alike) discs play fine, so I am going to return it. Their return policy states that they guarantee against defective merchandise, so hopefully all will turn out well.

I'll update when I get more info.
