250gb xbox 360 hard drive w/ transfer cable old style 69.99 @ circuit city In Stock

This is a great deal seeing that the transfer cable is included. I have a 250gb hard drive for my 360 and it has been great for installing games and other content.

So tempting... I've been debating upgrading to the new 250GB console and getting rid of my 2 existing 360s but this would be a lot less hassle and a lot cheaper too. Hmm...

isnt a hard drive a hard drive? i dont think there is any sort of pal licensing or anything on a hard drive is there?
TigerDirect is selling the European 250GB hard drive.
If that is true then the Circuit City HD is also European as it has the same listing with model numbers matching.

I ordered one of these when TigerDirect had them in stock, got it a few days ago . . . its the Euro version, different part number from the US version but will work fine on any pre-slim XBox. This is a legit Microsoft part, not a cheap knockoff such as the tons that are sold on Ebay (and which won't work for original XBox compatibility). $70 is a great price for this drive, considering it sold for $110-$130 for a long time.

you guys worry too much :) why would circuit city/tiger direct have this as a frontpage deal if there not legit? i have never had problems w/ them in the past

Just some important quick info.

1. This model is the European model which will work just fine in your US :360:
2. This is also the same model that Woot.com had for $55 a few weeks back.
3. Circuit City = TigerDirect which also has this same deal.
4. This WILL work in a :360: Slim with the following helpful links.

How to replace hard drive in 4gb :360: Slim

Hard drive case for :360: Slim (Just a warning: DealExtreme takes quite a while to get the item to the US since it comes from HK. I ordered on 12/20 and it says "packaged" but no shipping info yet. Stupid DE and even more so the holiday season.)

Its always good to be cautious when looking for an XBox hard drive. There are literally TONS of cheap chinese knockoffs on Ebay and even Amazon sellers push these junky fake versions all the time (not Amazon itselft, but its marketplace sellers). Always pays to be cautious, but in this case since they put the actual part number X16-38655-01 it is definitely the Euro version, which I have in its original blister pack right in front of me. :D

Thanks :) thats good info and reassuring to everyone who want to buy one

heres a better pic on amazon
Thanks man. Wasn't sure if that thing was the cable or not.

Probably already asked somewhere down the road, but if someone can educate me as to the hazards of purchasing the ones on eBay for $45 (especially one from *gulp* Hong Kong):

Are they fakes, despite what the picture shows?

Are they THAT undependable?

the hazards of buying a HK fake is that: 1) microsoft might detect and ban you (to my knowledge this has never happened.) 2) they didn't partition it correctly so you don't have the Backward Compatible partition so you can't play BC games. 3) God knows when you'll get it.

Is $25 worth the peace of mind.
I'm tempted. If I wait awhile will this go lower?
It certainly not impossible but this is also one of those items that many stores never carried many in stock/don't carry at all anymore, so it is possible there there will be some super clearance deal at target or best buy one day down the road, but there won't alot on the shelf when it happens. While it may get cheaper, you might have less of a chance to get it when it does. Woot a few days ago for $55 shipped, but they sold out pretty quickly

This seems like MS is dumping this supply of EU drives...At $70 shipped with a transfer kit, it is a pretty fair price given gamestop was selling 120gb used drives (with no transfer kits) for $60 on black friday...(and they currently want $80 for one).

Don't forget that when you get one of the cheap HK knockoffs, you have no idea what kind of crappy hard drive they used, or the cheesy extra electronics that go with it. Could be crappy refurbed drives or worse . . . just not worth it. There are tons of these always on Ebay, and its pretty easy to spot the fake ones . . . no original packaging and no transfer kit included.

I jumped on this through tigerdirect. I was also thinking of getting a HK HDD until this deal popped up. Definitely worth the money knowing you're getting an authentic one with a transfer cable.
im on backorder with tigerdirect, should i just cancel and reorder?
No, leave your order in. It won't come faster with circuitcity.com, they're the same company . . . you could lose the deal.

Circuit City=Compusa=TigerDirect...all the same store just different web site names. All are showing the same drive as available to be ordered. Once you order it, it shows a delayed arrival date (mine is Jan 20 and I ordered it today) so these are being back ordered for when they come back in stock.

Anyone know what a 120GB drive trades in for at GameStop?
Tried using the CAG price tracker but it's apparently not set up for accessories...
That or nobody actually adds theirs when they sell it.

Thinking it might be worth upgrading again (already went from 20GB ->120GB)
If I get this for $70 and can trade the 120GB in for a decent return....

I'm gonna guess around $17.

You can just call them and ask.

Legit used 120gb drives go for about $45-ish on ebay, $45-55 ish if you include a transfer kit with them..
