3 out of 4 want illegal immigration decreased

i see the OP, theres a typo in there. it should say, "you cant tell me" instead of "you can tell me", whoops. so your panties are in a bunch over a typo? or did you read the sentence right and your panties are still in a bunch? if its the latter, then why bother.
Nothing ever happened to the land of opportunity. It's still right there, available for the millions of people who choose/have chosen to come here legally.

edit: Do you assume every illegal immigrant is ignorant and not competent enough to hold a decent job? I assume that illegal immigrants don't all come here and clean toilets for $2.
Name one good paying job that illegals do. Name one job that you need specialized training for.

Do you actually know any illegal immigrants? The ones I've known all worked in the field, in factories, as janitors, or on construction crews. They worked as unskilled laborers because they knew little to no English. Once they learned a little English and got papers, they moved on to working as electricians, plumbers, or whatever they used to do in their old country.

My point is that anyone could compete with illegals for the jobs they do if they were just willing to take less money to do it. It could be construction, janitorial, or anything else but I almost never see an average American out there hustling to get work when it's all over the place. Like I said, get in line at Lowe's and you'd be surprised how much work you can get in a day. Just don't be surprised how little you get paid at the end of it.

What a perfect argument for getting rid of minimum wage laws and unionization. See, depascal, we can agree on things!

But you're saying that Average Americans should go out and do these "under the table" jobs for the same low wages illegal immigrants do them.

Why not just get rid of minimum wage laws so that the jobs can come out from under the table?

Wages are just part of the equation. Employers don't pay any of the taxes associated with employees.

That $7.50/hr is really around $9.50/hr (probably more) after Social Security taxes and all that. That's one reason why many unskilled jobs are under the table.
That's never going to happen so it's not even a point of discussion. Social Security is never going away.
The taxes won't. The benefits will.
i lol'd. then i was kind of sad.
Yup. I thought the same thing, just didn't know how to best word it.
