I am surprised how many people were scared off by one person's bad experience. I have been placing orders and trading with wherehouse.com for 2 years. In my experience they go out of there way to help you out on the customer service side. One time a game came without a manual and they sent another without asking for the original back. The only other time I had with a order is a game came fucked up from the new generic cases they are using. They gave me a full refund and let me keep the game...

I could understand that comment if they dicked him out of a movie or game. But were talking $1100 f'ing dollars!

Yeah I hear ya, but why would you send everything in one box to begin with. They give you a shipping credit if you send groups of 3 or more. Plus on the missing shipment was it wherehouse.com or someone else who dicked him. I had 5 packages disappear after shipping them out with delivery confirmation earlier this year. I contacted the postal inspector and they followed up on it. They ended up catching a postal employee redirecting packages to his house. Turned out he was doing it for about 2 months and needless to say he was prosecuted.

He did get a raw deal on some of the other issues outside the cans of food, but there are tons of us of here who used them for awhile and haven't had problems.
I wish they had a used copy of Babylon 5 season 4 in stock. I really want to know what happens.
Be patient. It's worth waiting for.

Wow! Thanks for the info! I had a ton of Wherehouse credit I had been sitting on for just the right deal to appear and this is it! I ordered about 6 games and used up my credit. Ended up saving about $70 off $230. Of course most of that stuff I could have gotten cheaper eventually, but since I was using store credit I was getting it for a lot less in real money to begin with.

Amazon.com has finally dropped the 4th season to $47.99 and thats with no tax and Free Shipping so that's all you'd pay.

DDD has it for a little bit less, but I think I'll wait until DDD has their 20% off sale so I can get it for $35.

I noticed some USED collector's anime box sets, but what are the chances that they are complete with all the extras?

Depends on what you mean by "extras" (like the collector's LOTR box set with the character figure?), but the box set itself should come complete. I ordered through this sale last year, and I was very impressed with the quality of DVD sets I got. They (FYE) were by far the biggest hardasses when it came to trading in items for credit, so all should be good.

BTW, I noticed on DVDTalk somebody ordered two sets for preorder (Seinfeld S7 and Scrubs S4). Might be worth trying on games...

Extras like cd sountracks, figurines, and other swag. I took a chance and ordered one. I read about other people experiences it seems that they have a pretty good return policy if you aren't satisfied.

But somebody stop me already as I've blown thru all my store credit and have started using real cash to order items. Incidently if you use store credit you save even more since they don't charge tax (why can't gamestop do the same?)

Just ordered again... I've been curious about Julian Lennon's music, so I'm giving it a shot. Also picked up Jimmy Page/Robert Plant "Walking into Clarksdale", total was around $15.99 shipped. I've had nothing but excellent service from Wherehouse, but after reading Successful Dropout's thread.. wow... that's so fucked up.

Honestly though... mailing in trades carries a certain degree of risk. The only site that I use is Estarland for mail-in trades, but I still find it risky. I know they say to ship media or 1st class mail, but I usually send either UPS or USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation, etc.

Personally, I've had nothing but great experiences from Wherehouse.com, but I only buy. They seem to be very stringent on quality of used products, but their shipping is usually high. However, when it comes to wanting to get items that are fairly hard to find at most retail chains (or too damned niche for any regular chain to care about), it's a great way to obtain things. For example, I've only seen Lolita in the Stanley Kubrick box set, and that thing is ridiculous. Right now, they have the John Lennon box set in stock.. I've seen the Allman Brothers Dreams box set in stock sporadically, I've seen the Beatles black box set in stock a couple times, and I believe I've seen the AC/DC complete box set in stock once. Point is, if you see them in stock.. and a discount is going on.. you can't beat it.

In reference to the previous post about the swag/collectible stuff that is included in box sets, I've never had any problems. I guess it really depends on the situation though. I've ordered the Good Vibrations box set through them on the cheap before (I wanted to hear the 4th disc of the set, the sMiLe sessions before Brian Wilson went acid bonkers), and everything was kosher.

The games I ordered are now showing as "Cancelled" (the CD's are "In Progress") on my order status, but they billed my card for the full amount. Looks like I'll be taking this up with customer service if they don't refund the difference...

My first order has shipped including Disgaea 2. I read the wherehouse.com nightmare thread, but I had nothing but good experience with wherehouse.com plus this deal was too good.

Well I decided to chance it and I ordered Metroid Prime (New) for the DS. I'm a new DS owner and I can't seem to find a better deal of this game.

I jumped on the deal of 30% off when I saw there were a few games I was thinking of grabbing (Dragon Quest VIII, Star Ocean 3, some dvds, etc). I was too slow for Valkyrie Profile 2, so I tried to jump on Disgaea 2. When I ordered it, it was listed as 49.99 for a new copy, so they were reporting as having some in. Used the coupon, all good, right?

2 days later, my order status goes from processing to backordered. Subsequently, I also purchased the strategy guide from another site. I wanted to just cancel the order, due to these reasons:

Their site claims they don't charge your credit card until the item ships. As soon as I placed the order, they charged me for the Disgaea order. I emailed them upset about this and this was their reply:

I'm sorry to say that our system won't allow us to manually cancel an
order or item once it's been placed and is in process.

After our best effort, if it's determined that this item cannot be
obtained, it'll be cancelled and your charges will be adjusted
accordingly. You'll be notified via email when that happens.

Please accept our apologies for this delay and for any inconvenience it
may have caused.

It's their site and their system, how can they not cancel the order? Now I'm forced to wait 5 days to see if they can magically find more copies, and then they'll refund me. So they can't refund me now, but magically can in 5 days? I wanted to just grab a copy from another site, full price or not, but now they're still holding my funds from this. I'll probably have to order from another site, and if they ship me a copy, re-send it back for a refund. What a hassle.

First time buyer, made 3 different orders. Seems to be no problem with less popular items that are guaranteed in stock when it's processed, but I'd avoid newer titles especially during a sale like this. Now I'm stuck waiting. Just throwing a warning out there.

I ordered some stuff. I had a few games in there, but decided against it. I'll wait for the next Gamestop B2G1. Just got some DVDs and OSTs for TMNT and Kim Possible.

The Pokemon Johto Journey DVDs came out to about $10 a piece, but they're normally about $40-$50 on Amazon Marketplace, so if I get 'em, score!

I ordered a new copy of Tetris DS. After shipping and tax it came to $25.XX. Not a great deal, but I've been meaning to get Tetris DS since it came out.

After sitting here trying to defend Wherehouse, I just got "effed in the A" as Trust Company put it. One of my orders totalled $72.xx... check my bank account, and they've charged me twice for it. I emailed customer service a little while ago, so I'll post back on their response. Damned it.. talk about knock on wood.

I swear to God I'm going to raise holy hell if they 'double dip" in my account, because it will overdraft.

I've been arguing with them via email. They still claim their own system wont let them cancel my preorder. I went ahead and ordered Disgaea 2 elsewhere, and told them that I wouldn't be a returning customer. They've failed to reply back
Still no response from customer service.. wonder how long it takes them to read email? I may have to call.
I've never had them take longer than a day to respond to things.

what are the odds that my backordered robotech protoculture collection and xbox 360 poker game will come back in stock i ordered em on friday and they have been backordered since then...

If there was that little in your bank account to begin with, why are you even buying stuff like that?

OK.. weird update to my problem, wanted to see if my theory was right.

So.. I got charged twice ($72.41) for one of my orders, emailed customer service. Sure enough, they emailed back about 24 hours later.

The rep. responds with this "electronic transactions work this way, you're seeing a charge because it is pending, etc etc." I can't paste the email because I'm at work.. but basically it says that they "showed no record of the double charge." Two things.. I work for the bank that I hold this account with, so I have access to detailed views of my account. Two, I know how electronic transactions work. However, I can't really bust her balls on it, as I'm sure many of their customers aren't familiar with such things.

In my email to customer service though, I stated that it had been charged twice due to completed transactions on my bank statement, one after another, and completed. So.. basically I felt blown off. I checked my account on our system at work, and oddly enough.. it showed two "pending" transactions from the Visa Checkcard for the amount. Why it showed cleared on the statements online, who knows.. but oh well.

So I wake up yesterday morning, and check my account online before I head into work. Neither are on my statement! So now we've gone from double dipping to no charge.. what the fuck?

Just checked our system at work. Both transactions have disappeared. I'm guessing the transactions were cancelled, but I'm not complaining. That's alot of shit for free (knock on wood).
That's weird.... I just checked my bank account, and my wherehouse transaction disappeared. What's going on?
You too, eh? My transaction from Sunday has cleared though, but it was for around $15. Anybody else see anything like this? My order shows as shipped, so at least I know it wasn't cancelled.

Same thing happened to me. At first I was afraid because only one thing that I ordered was available and my card was being charged the full amount. Then i got an email that said they all had been shipped. Just checked now and the charge was off my card.

Same here. I made 3 orders from them and none show up on my account, but I believe i was only charged for 1.

OK.. what were the times/dates of these transactions? My suggestion is to NOT call Wherehouse just yet.. there's a possibility that a block of transactions were cancelled by mistake, thus providing us with free transactions.

I'm a little vague on if they can charge a card again for stuff like this without authorization... if it isn't a large amount of transactions, it may slip under their radar.

The charge is gone from my account as well, but my order was shipped as of 10/2. At least Wherehouse is keeping things interesting, right?

Edited to add: I placed my order on 9/29, around 6:30 pm Eastern.

Mine just arrived (still have one item coming). Everything was fine. I ordered on 9/29 and got it today 10/04. I'll have to wait and see if they do end up charging my card.

I received an email confirmation that my DS game has shipped. Unfortunately, it shipped from Florida and I live in California so I wont see it for a long time.

Same here, ordered around 4:55 pm Central, on 9/29... maybe a block of transactions within an hour period were lost??

I ordered with my store credit and ended up oweing $4 and some odd cents over. My items show as shipped and that $4 something has not been charged or is pending on my bank account. I'm starting to wish I had not used the store credit. I've had... unusual encounters with Wherehouse.com's customer service before though so this doesn't surprise me. Never had a bad experience, just strange ones.

Would be nice if it were true... I have a rather large order from ~4am Eastern that shows as shipped but doesn't appear on my credit card statement yet (woke up to get a drink of water and noticed the sale had started).

I feel the same way now about using the credit I had. I paid for my entire order using merchandise credit, would have been nice to get free stuff.
