Close. White and vote for whoever's best.

I supported Kerry.
They should DEPORT the IRish too while they are at it.. Those guys are bad drunks and i cant understand them.
Thank you, Juan Frijole.

Why should people who have nothing to offer this country be allowed to pour in in massive numbers? Maybe they should be supporting their native nations and trying to fix the problems there instead of leeching off this one?

I'm not saying immigration should be stopped, I'm not saying legal immigrants should go back. I'm saying people with nothing to do but cause trouble shouldn't be here.

Edit: Also, I thought it was interesting that you said "white" with a negative connotation since I disagree with you. God forbid I be part of the race that made up the language you speak, the internet you use, and the country you live in. You know, since all people who have the same ethnic backround are exactly the same. *rolleyes*

These "idiots" WANT reform. The message gets lost in the media but that IS what everybody wants. The "reform" proposed in the Senate is deeply flawed, at best, and sets everyone back & does no one any good.

#-o

I didn't mean for this to turn into a controversial discussion over immigrants rights. I only posted because 300,000 is a lot of frickin' people in one place at one time.

yea we had a bunch of fools here in downtown miami where they supposedly led a march somewhere...

all i could hear was allot of honking etc

This is ridiculous. If they want reform, maybe they should go through the process of becoming a citizen and pay taxes. Until they do both, I say fuck them.

If they are too ignorant to learn the language of the nation they are in, I realize there is no official nationally language, but English is "official", then they shouldn't be here. Take the time and put in the effort, and then bitch about it once you're a legal alien. Until then, tough luck.

I saw a group of mexican people at wal-mart today. I'm not sure if they were illegal or not, but I was surprised they were buying stuff. i guess I assumed that there would be some kind of solidarity among illegal/legal.

Solidarity, hah, more like selfishness.

I don't judge by skin, I judge by actions. I am completely fed up with the race card being pulled, sneaking into this country and protesting about your "rights" is alot different than being disrespected because of your race or skin tone. These people just alienate themselves with this misguided protest.
Watch the movie "A Day Without A Mexican".
I'll watch "Biodome" instead. Stephen Baldwin can guess what you ate for dinner by the way you fart.

Don't worry, I'm sure if anything this will further hinder their own cause. We as a nation are very good at lashing out violently at things we fear.

Why should people who have nothing to offer this country
I don't agree with the protests either but you might wanna look into your statement, you'd be surprised.

Jon Stewart: "Illegal immigrants today demonstrated their desire to work for this country.....by taking the afternoon off"

Because they run minimum wage jobs? No. No. Anyone can do that, teenagers, rednecks, the plenty of native unemployed, whoever.

People who immigrate should either be:
1) People who need asylum or
2) Doctors, professors, etc. who can enrich the place.

LOL, based on #2 a doctor smith or johnson will be hard to come by but all joking aside.

Teens wanna frolick (sp?) around and live the viva la bam lifestyle.
rednecks wanna go muddin' (off-roading for non-houstonians cuz we have no hills), and manage all the illegals to feel superior.
Natives, they got casinos.

not to rain on your parade, your statments are ideal and True but:
a. who wants to do it?
b. are you willing to pay a higher price for that legal min. wage?

they are not realistic given the situation IMO.
b. are you willing to pay a higher price for that legal min. wage?
Yeah, god forbid we pay people a living wage. And health insurance? Forget it - Walmart needs to meet it's 4th quarter projections!
Yeah, god forbid we pay people a living wage. And health insurance? Forget it - Walmart needs to meet it's 4th quarter projections!
Wal-Mart will meet those projections regardless; they'll just pass the cost onto the consumer. For those who don't shop at Wal-Mart it won't matter because there is a form of monopolistic competition and Wal-mart is the industry leader. Meaning wal-mart goes up, then so does, target, k-mart, and every other major chain. But in terms of wages most of wal-marts products are imported their only illegal alien "abuse" is that of their employee, and most of the legal ones don't even get health and benifits. All walmart will do is have a huge part-time labor force, already full time at wal-mart means 28 hrs a week and benifits start at 40 if I'm not mistaken. Still when cost of labor or production goes up so does everything else, if it hasn't already.

I won't deny the fact that illegal immigrants hold somewhat of a small key position in this country, but a key one none the less and do things that other americans would not do even for minimum wage. I'm sure that most reading this have been watching or reading the news, Agriculture in Cali has stopped, just fo a day, but has stopped. If that were to be for a month imagine the cost of produce. Also look into construction and how for the month of march construction was at an all-time high, given the rebuild in LA. If construction were to stop think of the skyrocket in housing. Sure these might seem like far-fetched ideas, but to say the illegal aliens make no contribution is just stabbing one's self in the eyes.

Problem is that there is no consensus on reform. All sides want reform.

Think before you comment. If it’s not constructive then you’re as good as the politicians who seem to just twiddle their fingers and seem to do nothing.
I know this is an old thread, but I love how the title conveniently leaves out the word 'illegal'.
Exactly what I was thinking.

The United States has laws, and those laws should be followed. The citizenry DOES want reform, that's true. What they do NOT want is the "illegal immigration problem" to be solved by waving a magic wand and saying "all illegal aliens are now legal, problem solved!!!"

People want the PROBLEMS associated with illegal immigration solved: emergency room closures, congestion, crime, lowered standard wages, dilution of the American culture by people who are NOT assimilating.

The bill as proposed will exacerbate those problems, not alleviate them. Instead, what it will do is bring millions more illegals with the promise of eventual legalization, just as the 86 amnesty did. Things will get worse, a LOT worse. Meanwhile, we'll have slapped in the face all the people who immigrated here legally, who have been patiently waiting for visa applications to be accepted. We'll have said that the proper way to get anything you want is to steal it, because sooner or later we'll decide it's just too hard to enforce the laws.

I could go on and on about how bad this is.

Kinda funny. (i'm hispanic, so keep this in mind)

We have TVs all around this office building, and they were showing the marches.

A few people were looking at the TV, and I got up, looked as well, and left my desk.
Everyone was looking me, as if I were protesting and walking out of work.
I gave them a look, and just said, "Lunch.".

It was weird. I didn't know those people either, but I felt I had to explain where I was going.
