360 core price drop to $199 ??

Theres no reason Sony can't drop price and still sell for a loss. If it increases their market share they will drop price and take the loss and make it up with games. Thats standard for consoles.
Considering Sony NEEDS to lower the cost as soon as possible, i would count on new models rolling out with incremental changes; basically, when the 65nm part is available, they will use it. Makes sense to start cutting costs ASAP. Would you rather save $100 now...for about a year. Or wait a year and save $150? Doesn't make sense to wait on other parts to come down in price.
well it wouldnt be $100 vs 150 it would be closer to 50 vs 150 since the rsx is the more expensive part. and its more like 6 months vs a year apart. the board redesign & manufacturing retooling have to be taken into consideration too. its not like all they have to do is put in a different chip. the whole mainboard, cooling setup, & potentially PSU & shell has to be redesigned too.

its all gunna come down to the bean counters, if they think they can keep selling enough that it would be more beneficial to hold off vs. increase the install base. imo theyre pretty confident the install base will eventually be there simply because of the PS name recognition. but if the user base keeps growing slow developers are going to be less likely to invest in it.
