Part of the wired controller's selling point is that you can use it on the PC.

What do you mean "the PC version"?

Yeah, it works, you have to download the drivers to use it on your computer. Not sure where you can find those drivers though.

Theres a windows based one thats in red packaging that says it can be used for 360 also. Then there the wired one for 360 in regular packaging that doesnt say anythin about pc compatibility. Both are wired so they look like same crap but pc version cost more money.

The controller ports on the 360 are USB ports. The wired version of the controller is the "PC" version.

OK thanks so those bastards are charging 5 bucks extra for the red packaged pc version. Does anyone know if drivers are up on the net for them yet?

"The difference between buying a normal non-wireless Xbox 360 controller and buying the "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" is that the latter comes with a driver disc. That's it. The Windows version one is a little hard to find—we noticed that Best Buy is selling it for $5 more than the normal wired Xbox controller, but we confirmed with Microsoft that retailers are supposed to sell it for the exact same $39.99 price.

You don't even need the driver disc, because drivers are already up on Windows Update and are found automatically when you plug in the controller for the first time and choose the option to search online for drivers. In other words, if you want one of these things, you can just as easily buy the Xbox 360 controller and download the drivers, because there's no difference at all. Just make sure you don't buy a wireless controller, as they don't work with Windows."

Anyone know how well the 360 controller work with pc games? I've been deciding whether to pick one of these up or that Logitech model that looks exactly like PS2's controller.

I tried it with BF2, I couldn't figure out how to map the aim to the right stick...so I just ran around for a while, and it worked good.

i got the xbox 360 wired controller (green packaging) with the purpose of using it on my pc (i don't own a 360). i mainly use it for MAME and project 64 (an n64 emulator), and i think it works awesome. the url to get the drivers you'll need is on the instructions inside the packaing.
