New trailer about Dot-Mart.

ATLUS RELEASES 3D DOT GAME HEROES "DOT-MART" VIDEO VIGNETT
Save money, save the kingdom.

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- APRIL 6, 2010 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today continued to make the prospect of not immediately pre-ordering 3D Dot Game Heroes™ more and more ludicrous with the release of its latest video vignette for the upcoming ultimate retro action-adventure game for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

The video, titled "Dot-Mart," shows would-be kingdom rescuers where they'll be doing their general goods shopping in the realm of Dotnia. This latest vignette follows in the footsteps of earlier such videos ("Natural Sword Enhancement," "Most Interesting Hero in 3D"), showing off aspects and features of the game in the same playful, charming way that makes 3D Dot Game Heroes itself oh-so-irresistible.

Dripping with old school charm, classic gaming pizzazz, and pure retro sexy, 3D Dot Game Heroes is the ultimate homage to the industry's golden era.

3D Dot Game Heroes is scheduled to release on May 11, 2010 with an MSRP of $39.99. For more information, visit the official website and the official Facebook Page.

Any rumblings of preorder bonuses yet?

Im definitely going to pick this one up and as its only $40 I dont mind paying MSRP, it would just be nice to not have to or at least get soemthing for it.

Nothing yet, but its only $36.99 on Amazon. If you're planning on picking it up in store, you'll probably want to preorder, as I dont see retailers stocking very many copies of this game.

So I've known of this game for a while now but today was the first time I really started looking into what it was and man I gotta say......it looks BADASS! I am pretty much pot committed to buying it at this point, between the game's price, art style, and homage to Zelda I feel like I owe it to myself to buy it. Man May is going to be a giant month of gaming for me.

EDIT: I see 1UP is going to be playing it on their gamenight tonight at 7pm Central. Here's the link for anyone interested: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3178654

They have made a point to push the $40 price point, I wouldn't expect any LEs since they rarely do it and haven't announced a Spoils for this game. As far as print run, no one can answer that

Finished up the third dungeon, which was probably the first tough dungeon since there are a number of hazards in it. I like that doing quests for villagers is how I get life shards, which makes talking to everyone in the towns useful. I'm also glad they don't limit how much money you can hold at one time, so I was able to earn a lot of money leading up to the third dungeon to upgrade my sword a lot (bought the pierce ability so it can clip through anything).

Also, "I can expand your bomb sack for 200 gold."

put my preorder in at estarland yesterday..

Too bad I am going on vacation probably the day it arrives.... for a week or more.

Oh well.

Working on the sixth temple and I'm liking the sword-collecting part of the game, as I had just the first two swords I got for a while. Then I got a much more powerful sword near one of the temples, a fish sword from a villager, and some magical sword for the LEGO-like blocks I've picked up throughout the game.

It has also gotten hard now, as I've died a few times in the last temple that required completing a series of steps just to get to the room right in front of the boss room.

Thanks Frisky. I wish you could do one on Destructoid. I'm sick of their shitty reviews.

I wish I could have played the game so I could weigh in my opinion, b/c he complains about the game giving you almost no direction and having to find the next dungeon--well, guess what, the original Zelda was the same way. If you love the original Zelda and the one on the SNES, this is your game. If you don't like classic games, then don't give your opinion!

yeah i cant wait for this man, ive been hoping for "zelda" to come out for ps3, and now its an exclusive which is in my mind as a ps3 only gamer real cool man

I've been waiting for this ever since i saw it on the pre order list a few months ago. it's not often we get a real throwback game like this, can't wait to play it

same here man, i didnt even see the game itself, just read the description and was like this ones a must buy, even if i pay full price u know, its only 40

I am dying for this game... but due to my enormus backlog- I can't seem to preorder it without hesitation. If it fell into my goldbox (I have been trying to force it), I would easily get it for day 1.

They point out where on the map the next temple is and if you haven't been over there so that the map is already filled out, you maybe see two paths that could lead that way before you find the right path. It's kind of idiot proof for the most part, so I don't see why they need to hold your hand and show you a direct path. I could see not liking that in the temples, as there were some points where I had no idea where I needed to go next, but I'd eventually figure it out anyway.

I need someone to make Link, so I can download it, and put it on my PS3 to be ready for this game. I refuse to play it not as Link :whistle2:D

Thanks a lot Frisky, great review, made me even more impatient for it to come out, heh. I don't care about my backlog, as soon as it ships I'm dropping everything and playing it. Just hope Amazon sends it out in due time, as I'd like to have it as close to ship date as possible, given I have FSSS on the order, so that might be an issue.

Oh btw, is it May 11th yet. ;)

Edit: And oh, by the way about Destructoid's complaint about getting lost or not having direction, need I remind the reviewer of what the definition of an ADVENTURE game is. To explore, look around, etc. My word...at least there aren't any (virtually unsolvable) maze puzzles or hidden stuff like Zelda 1 or MG1 where unless you had the guide you'd have no freakin' clue what to do.

I remember burning or bomb every darn thing in Zelda 1 to find a secret area, tedious yes, but still that's what we did in those shorter type games, and that doesn't diminish the quality and reverence Zelda 1 gets after all these years does it?

I just found out about this game. I can't wait but I should because I have so much to play and Super Mario Galaxy 2 comes out less than 2 weeks later and that's a day 1 buy for me. First good deal I find on this I'm buying it.

Amazon has it on preorder for $36.99 with Free shipping, that's a good deal to me, not seeing it drop more than that for awhile, it seems to be in a fairly large demand, plus I don't see the print run being massive on this title, Demon's Souls only went 100k copies total after Atlus did 2 extra productions runs from the initial release last Nov.

I could see this getting another print. Atlus will make another run if they can make money. I'll place an order on Amazon anyway. I wanted to use my $20 credit on this since Other M has been canceled, but I can use it on something else. Doesn't really matter what I use it on anyway, saving $20 is the same anywhere.

You were scaring me there for a minute, it looks to only be delayed, thank goodness.

I wouldn't count on a second print run unlike Demon's Souls, while anticipated, I don't think Atlus is going to go ape with a massive print run for a game that is in demand, but not in the league of their former PS3 release. I could be wrong, P4 was a larger release, but I waited on P3 and got burned when they announced P3:Fes when P3 was getting harder and harder to find. But then again 3d Dot Heroes doesn't have an issue like that.

Up to you, but that's your best option right now, and if Frisky gave it props, I know it should be a good game, the vibe I've gotten from it from the initial announcement has been good, so I see no reason to wait, if it was $60, I might think differently, but it's not. So it's one of the few Day 1 purchases I make, and I don't see myself regretting that, instead of skulking because it either won't come down in price (ala Demon's Souls until recently) or some other unknown factor like a limited release or something likt that.

I find it ridiculous that people automatically want to put link in this game, and use him. You're telling me you have complete freedom as to who to use in the game, and you choose......Link.

Honestly! Does Mr. Rodgers need to visit one of his "neighbors" and have a soft talk about imagination?

I did mean delayed. I would have jumped out of my window if it was canceled.

I like using my Amazon credits asap on things I know I want so that's why I'd want to wait. But it's better to regret paying $37 on release day than $50 for a used copy months later.

I don't know about anyone else, but I plan on playing this multiple times. Link will be one of the first I use.

Where? There is no trading system built into the game, which in unfortunate.

I need to be prepared!! I don't want to have the game day 1 with no link available. I would suck at making it, so I am depending on people!

I'm sure they'll get posted in this thread.
Download to flash drive and you're good to go.

I think the game has built in some of the extra pre-made characters, including the subtle, "hero of time".
