3DS[i] eShop Shop Thread:**LAST DAY TO GET ZELDA 4 SWORDS FOR FREE**

Boxlife is pretty good. My BF got M vs DK..and said he is almost positive it's the same exact version of the retail game.

Disappointing.

But Boxlife is OK. Pictobits and the Aquia game is much better, though. Boxlife looks and sounds a lot like Zoo Keeper. :whistle2:k

Others, including Nintendo, are saying that the 100 included levels are all new? So the same game concept, and the artwork is probably the same, but it's new puzzles, right? Talking about MvDK, of course.

This is an unusual screw up for Nintendo, as I held up making the purchase until Kotaku posted the following info.

The art and engine have seen an overhaul so even the sprites are new (in particular the mini's appear a touch bigger than before). The concept of the Minis still being a Lemmings-esque puzzler remains.

The puzzle stages are 100% new. The only thing "reused" from MvDK2 in the DSi MvDK is the boss stages and even those stages have been recreated using the updated engine.

 @ the title. So true.
What do you guys recommend that I should get with the 200pts I have left over?
Bird and Beans(Pyoro), dude! So addicting and way fun.

I'd imagine that this would make a person either very happy or very agitated. Nintendo announced that they're bringing Electroplankton to the Japanese DSiWare. They're splitting it up and slapping a 200 point price tag on each piece. There were "10 instruments" in the original game, so theoretically, it should cost a total of 2000 points for the entire collection. A high price tag indeed, though still lower than what the actual Electroplankton cart goes for.

Next week Virtual Console

- Super Punch Out (VC)
- Sky Kid (VCA)

Next week DSiWare

- Electroplankton Tracy
- Electroplankton Hanenbon (Hanebow)
- Electroplankton Nanocarp
- Electroplankton Tsuriga ne Mushi (Beatnes)

Due out July 22nd

- Electroplankton Rekku Rekku (Rec-Rec)
- Electroplankton Hikari no Wa (Lumiloop)

If nintendo allows you to record and save your electroplankton creations, then I think certain ones will be worth the 200 pts. If not....it's really just an interactive screen saver.

Move them horizontally or vertically, but be careful not to create an unusable non-number in the process. Choose from one of three modes: eliminate a set amount of numbers as quickly as possible in ZEROSUM MODE; get rid of prearranged groups of numbers in as few moves as possible in PUZZLE MODE; or continue removing numbers until your game is over in INFINITE MODE. In addition, you can challenge an opponent to a two-player wireless battle in VS MODE and see whose number-crunching skills reign supreme. If you think you're a master with numbers, the straightforward yet challenging world of Art Style: BASE 10 gives you the opportunity to prove it in a unique way.

I think that sounds pretty good. $20 is a lot better then the used cart price and you can pay for it in pieces. Plus this is the type of "game" that is best as a download stored on the DSi - it's not something you're going to dedicate a week to, but for occasional, unexpected 10 minutes of time to kill, sure. The one big problem with the idea is having to have 10 different apps taking up space in the app bar instead of just one containing all the parts. In any case, I hope they bring these here.

I'd rather not Electroplankton be on there as I'm tempted to buy it all despite having an original NA cart.

Hmm, but if you can save the works........

---

Finally, Art Style: Decode makes it way over here!
I hate all the name changes, this game has 4 different names/variations now.

Per Somnid at GAF.

Ball (July 15)
Flag Man (July 15)
Vermin (July 15)
Judge (July 15)
Helmet (July 29)
Chef (July 29)
Donkey Kong Jr (August)
Mario's Cement Factory (August)
Manhole (August)

200 points apiece.

My condolences to people who spent stars on Game & Watch Collection. Hopefully you got it for the collector's value.

[edit] Note that Green House, Oil Panic, and Donkey Kong aren't listed (G&WC), neither are Parachute and Octopus (G&WC2). So those users still have at least timed exclusivity.

So, wait - these don't feature updated version like in the Game & Watch Gallery games? You just get the originals (you get those too in the G&W Gallery.) What bout the Game & Watch from Club Nintendo? Does that have updated versions of the games or no?

I was ready to pull the trigger once these arrived here, but without updated versions I don't think I'm going to buy them.

Well, I absolutely love Base 10. I doubt many others will, but I find it utterly fascinating in almost the same way I did with AQUIA.

There's an odd reason for this, partially - the music in the Zerosum mode is strangely...nostalgic. Both of my grandparents had these clocks in their houses that used to chime on the hour, and the bizarre "ding" sound you get in that mode for matching numbers strikes a hauntingly familiar chord. The music itself is also soothing, yet unsettling. Makes me think of being in this specific rooms, the sun slowly setting, red and orange dusk crawling in the windows upon the walls in dimming shocks of light, the world quietly receding away into the shade, with the last rays of the sun glinting off clock faces and cabinets and etching itself gradually downward.

So I imagine none of that would apply to people who are not currently me.

Haven't had a chance to really try out Boxlife yet - I've been matching numbers at a blistering pace. This is the same sort of ethereal experience Lumines could provide me when I got in the zone, where I was frantically looking for pairs amidst the columns and rows.

Simply, though, the ArtStyle games are easily the best investment for DSiware at the moment. I haven't tried the other costlier games (Mighty Flip Champs, Mario Minis, Warioware), but I think these little puzzle games are amazing. They are precisely what needs to be released to make DSiware a viable platform. It's just all the little touches that make them so worthwhile - the great presentation, the killer music and ambient sounds, and the simple but challenging gameplay.

I'm actually switching madly between Henry Hatsworth and Base 10, killing off hours at a time on each.

As pointed in the Wii Shop thread, this week's title is Art Style: ZENGAGE. In Japan, it was known as SOMNIUM and in Europe it was released as NEMREM.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDGWZVtD2Ek

Art Style: ZENGAGE™
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Price: 500 Nintendo DSi Points™
Description: Do you dream of relaxing with a great puzzle game? Art Style: ZENGAGE revolves around sliding cells (squares) to match colors with cores (beads) located on the board. Clear each stage by matching all of the cores and cells. As you progress through the game's 100-plus stages, you'll encounter cells with special characteristics, such as immovability, which further add to the challenge. To truly master ZENGAGE, you must keep your mind sharp and employ careful strategy to complete stages in as few moves as possible. Combining wistful graphics and mesmerizing sound, ZENGAGE creates a surreal world that should be experienced by all puzzle gaming fans.

SOMNIUM/NEMREM/ZENGAGE

The name changes are stupid, and we got the worst of the bunch. :(

This is supposed to be the weakest entry in the Art Style DSiWare games.

Will buy as soon as I get home, and not just because I loaded my DSi up with super cheap 10,000 points over the weekend. (thanks pepsi, again)

Could you explain the Pepsi thing?

EDIT: Beaten.

There's a big thread in the "Contests/Free Stuff" section.

Basically.
Pepsi Co. products have some yellow and red caps that feature a Rock Band instrument on the top.

Code on the bottom gives a "token" on the Pepsi RB site to enter a variety of contests.

One such contest, is a chance to win a free downloadable RB track for the system of your choice, however, no one seems to lose.
I redeemed 100+ caps and always won the free song.

On PS3/360, when you redeem your token for the song, it gives a download code for that specifid code.
If you choose Wii, you'll get a 16-digit number that is actually a 200 point code. Obviously you can use the points on whatever you want.

1 cap = 200 Wii or DSi points.
100 caps = 20,000 Wii/DSi points.

There's no way I was going to buy that much Pepsi so I just bought caps on ebay at about $15 per 25 caps.
So 100 caps total cost me $60. That's $200 worth of points.
Auctions sell quickly, so you have to catch them when they go up.

Otherwise, scavenging for those distinctive yellow caps is a good idea.
Any replies should go in that thread, but here's a heads up.
I think the deal ends at the end of this month, or the 28th. Not sure.

I bought Sudoku for 200 points.
Had an extra Pepsi cap and figured, what the hey. I've only played Sudoku once before, maybe I'll like it.

Seriously, I just want Flip Note Studio (i'm hearing next week....)

Pictobits, and whatever other Art Style game strikes your fancy. Unless you like Sudoku.

I'm so glad Nintendo hasn't thought of selling Picross puzzles on the DSi store. It would make me poor.
Just got an DSi, what's the best games or apps to spend with my 1000 points?
Second on Pictobits. I'm a fan of Dr. Mario Express and Mario VS DK as well.

I'd recommend Boxlife, though you may want to check out a gameplay video beforehand. Very addicting, but you may get the impression that your doing math/geometry homework at times

I think they yanked Wii points for now. Sucks cause I just got a bunch of codes with the hopes of getting some things on DSiWare.

SIDE NOTE: System Menu 1.4 for the DSi will also be releasing today. This firmware update adds Facebook integration.

This week it's Art Style: precipice, which was released in Japan under the title of Nalaku and Europe as Kubos. Although I'm not sure, but the gameplay footage in the video below kinda reminds me of Intelligent Qube.

FACEBOOK CONNECT PHOTO INTEGRATION WITH NINTENDO DSI LAUNCHES TODAY

Free New Integration Lets Users Upload Photos to Their Facebook Profiles

REDMOND, Wash., Aug. 3, 2009 – Starting today, Nintendo DSi™ owners have even more ways to share their experiences with friends and family. Using an Internet-connected Nintendo DSi system and the Nintendo DSi Camera application, Facebook members can take pictures with either of the system's two cameras and upload their photos directly to their Facebook profile. This function will be available after 5 p.m. Pacific with a free downloadable system update.

While reviewing pictures they've stored in the Nintendo DSi Camera album, which includes photos taken by users and manipulated using the built-in interactive lenses, users can simply tap the Facebook icon on the system's touch screen to instantly transmit photos to the user's Facebook profile. The user's system must be configured to a wireless broadband Internet connection for the transmission of photos.

"Facebook and Nintendo DSi build on the trend of personalization that is so important to consumers," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. Nintendo DSi has sold more than 1.7 million units in the United States alone, according to the NPD Group. The third iteration of the world's best-selling portable video game system includes photo- and voice-manipulation features that allow users to customize their experiences like never before.

Remember that Nintendo DSi features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Nintendo DSi features such as the new integration with Facebook Connect technology, visit www.NintendoDSi.com.

I'll be getting precipice when I get home. It sounds really cool. I'll probably be making use of the Facebook integration too. I've been really lazy about offloading my pictures to an SD card and then onto my computer and blah blah blah blah blah. I hope it doesn't work through the Opera browser.

I'm definitely going to get Precipice. It's the first Art Style game to look fun since Pictobits... which admittedly wasn't long ago. Apparently this is the last Art Style game, at least for a while, incidentally, according to nintendolife.com.

All we need now is Flip Note Studio.

Then........... there's nothing......
Oh, there's G&W and Electroplankton throwaway games. :(

Sad that this may be the last AS game for a while. I'm surprised that they burned through them so quickly, actually. This is the same company that likes to hold back major titles for milestone purposes (100th VC title, etc.)

Facebook update is live. Thank god it doesn't go through the browser, found that out the hard way. You just go into your photo album like you were going to edit a picture and the first time you do, the system explains how to upload to Facebook for you.
So is Facebook integration just photos? No viewing friends pages, leave comments, change updates, etc?
Nope, just photos. Precipice is hard. I've only gotten to floor 38 on Tower mode.

I haven't had the chance to play it that much yet, but Precipice is pretty cool so far. At first I thought it was just a survive your way to the top game, but then realized you are trying to fill in rows on the same level by stepping on them, and could push and pull boxes in order to achieve that, all the while trying not to fall and/or get squashed. Fun. I think it's worth the points.

As for the future... I hope 3rd parties will step up to the plate more sometime soon. Also I wish Nintendo would start offering full DS games as downloads (and add support for running games from SD). My first suggestion would be to bring the entire Tetris DS game over. I'd happily pay 2000 points for that. Tetris is the perfect download game and I just hope they don't bring us a gimped version of the game, though that seems the most likely thing to happen, if anything.

I freakin' love precipice. It's so addictive. Since it doesn't have any touch controls, I'd like to see it on the Wii. Maybe add multiplayer or something. Or a mode where your guy can move faster, not unlike Mario (backflips, long jumps and all that) and add second player functionality that runs along Cubello concepts.

Does that make any sense?

Precipice is indeed good. Definitely recommended. I like the 10 levels mode best. What's everyones high score on 10 levels? I've got 11030 for a top score so far.
