Hey everyone,

Kind of a unique deal here. My mom just moved from Illinois to Wisconsin and when she notified the post office of the change of address, they gave her a coupon book.

She said most of them were worthless, but there was a Circuit City coupon for $40 off any purchase of $200 or more.

I used it last weekend to pick up Gears of War 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, Lego Batman and the WoW Battlechest for $178 after tax.

Wow, thats great!

Can anyone confirm if this is universal? I live in southern california.

I think you can just go to the post office and pick up the "movers packet" or whatever its called- you shouldn't have to actually change your address to get the coupons (at-least in SoCal that is).

I'd like to know this too, mainly whether or not I actually have to move in order to get the coupon. I was going to spend $180 and use a $20 coupon soon. It would be cool if I could get an extra $20 worth of stuff for free.

pretty sure this is old news. Its a standard coupon with the movers pack. People were posting scans [ymmv] of it for awhile.
So this is just some pack that we can go into the post office and pick up?
Yea mine has them on the counter where they have all the other slips.

The movers packets at the Post Office that are free to take do not include a Circuit City coupon pack, the Circuit City coupons only come in the pack they send you via the mail after you move.

p.s.
It also seems that the newer $40.00 off a $199.00 purchase coupons do not exclude consoles but are not valid during "Black Friday" weekend, so it should work no problem on taking $40.00 off the console of your choice.

Awesome! now I'm going to go buy a big overpriced flatscreen TIV with a 10 yr extended warrantee from a company that declared bankruptcy. I wonder if I can get CC to deliver to my home using DHL.

I actually used this to buy my PS3 last month, but I don't remember whether they accepted the $40 off $200 portion or the 10% off any Blu-Ray player coupon also attached. Either way I walked out paying only $360 (no tax in Oregon). Also included with mine was a 10% off any HDTV, but I didn't have cash enough for that upgrade.

PS - Be wary of all of these credit card offers if you plan on buying a house or car. It's not just forgetting to pay your bills that hurts your credit report but also having an excessive amount of credit cards and companies checking your credit history during your approval process. $50 isn't worth 50 points isn't worth a few percent higher APR.

I can confirm, that scan of the coupon in pdf, printed in photo paper actually "SCANS" into the sytem when you make a purchase in CC over $199. Just make sure they hit total before they apply the coupon or it will read as an invalid card instead.
Unfortunately it excludes consoles. :(
It still scans for exclusions. Last time around people were using it on 360s and iPods.

Two of my friends got 360s with it. It most certainly works with consoles.

basically, you can technically use the coupon on anything in the store you want, it's actually the cashiers responsibility to read the list of exclusions and decline the sale if something purchased is excluded. that's why some people get away with it for iPods and consoles, even if it's on the list of exclusions, because either the cashier missed it or didn't care...

Hard credit checks only temporarily lower your credit score. 3 months if I remember correctly.

I think it could be regional if the ones in office have it. 2 years ago when I moved into my apartment I got one from the local PO and it had the CC coupon. 2 months ago when I moved into my house I went and grabbed 3 of them from the local PO knowing I'd be buying a new PC and other things and there was no CC coupon. Nor did I get one from the welcome pack USPS sent after I filed my change of address form.
This thread is useless without a scan/copy of the coupon...
Your post is pointless and obvious that you don't read posts after the first topic post ( I really hate people who don't read through the thread that has info repeatedly posted and people still ask the very same question). the coupon scan link is on the post just above my very first message.

So, if technically it's not for consoles but it's up to the cashier to check...do you think you could get away with using it on Black Friday? I figure if it's extra hectic that they would be in an even bigger rush to just get you through.
has anyone used this to get GHWT?
isn't there a $50 off GHWT coupon floating around somewhere?

read the fine print on the coupon people. it says there you can't use it on black friday. at least download and look at the image.

yes but you didn't understand my question

it also says on the coupon that you can't use any photocopies or anything...which this obviously is. People simply use it because the cashiers don't read the fine print themselves. Which leads me to wonder, are all coupons not going to work on Black Friday, or will it once again be up to the cashier to turn down this coupon? Will Circuit City be better informed on Black Friday?

MetalMariachi, can you enlighten me :D

these coupons have been around since the beginning of time. they are issued by circuit city not the usps. they just come with the move in package when you change your address. they are issued monthly.

since the coupon in this thread expired 10/31/08, this thread should be declared dead. these coupons are EXTREMELY YMMV if they are expired.

if someone has a scan of the november coupon please post it. otherwise this thread should be sent to the graveyard.

Fellas, if you click on the link provided on the first page you will see that there are 2 scans for the coupon. They expire in Dec.

And yet another poster who doesn't read posts before giving his 2 cents. I'm going to re post Beerme's links again just so people dont keep freakin saying "this thread is no good without a scan of the coupon"
Found this thread on slickdeals: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthr...uid=0&t=942504

Here's the pdf: http://a.slickdeals.net/attachment.p...1&d=1226336555

And I will repost it multiple times for any more idiots who keep saying there is no new coupon that expires on end of nov.

More like another idiot poster who doesn't actually verify links in his own posts and would rather fill the board with vitriol than useful info.

Here is a link that actually works AND has the November coupon. You're welcome.

The $15 off $100 purchase coupons from CC are a dime a dozen, unless you're buying at a deep, deep discount, they still make a profit from you only paying $160/$200.

I click the link and works for me. i use firefox and norton internet security. i get a save prompt when i click on the link. dont know what's wrong with yours. but thank you for posting another link for people who don't have theirs working.
