4000 Microsoft Points ONLY $39.99
So is $43.29 (tax included) a good deal for this?? .... cant remeber the last time i saw one of these on sale..
Look at it this way, you are buying 2 1600 point cards for $40 and you are getting 800 points($10 value) for $3.50.

$40 was't really that hot, $44 isn't worth bothering with, IMO, unless you are in dire need of points.

Isn't worth bothering? This is a $50 gift certificate to the Xbox Live Marketplace for $44. Do you have a better deal? And yes, I know you've seen them in the past. This is now.

That's definitely a good deal if you want points!! It's not a deal that makes you want to stock up though. I just ordered yesterday from Amazon for $40. What's the extra $3 for tax?

You could just get it from Amazon for like $2 more, but why pay $2 more? It's not really worth stacking up on, since Amazon from time to time has them for $40, but definitely a good deal. Actually, if you like buying points, it may be worth stacking up on them.

Great deal if you want the points! Anyone that says different either buys stolen cards or steals cards, and is a complete ass.

So anyone who seeks out a deal steals or is an ass?

Stick around longer and you might find a real deal on them. There's at least one, if not two great deals that come along every year. Stock up then and you don't have to jump on a so-so deal, like this one, at other times of the year.

I am going to wait for Amazon to price match (hopefully they plan to). I dislike Dell as a company and would rather Amazon got my money.

So for those of us who haven't looked for deals in the past, corvin, educate us on the last few deals that were better then this. And yes, this is a serious, not sarcastic post.

I remember those, actually I bought the Amazon points w/tax. I wanted in on the Zune points but waited too late. Turns out the $40 was the same price. I haven't bought points since I stocked up on the CC out of business.

Sure, I'm not trying to be snarky, just pointing out that the past has shown that something always comes along.

A couple years back Target had a $10 off accessory coupon that worked on points($10ea). Circuit City had a B1G1 free on points($10ea) before they folded. BB / TRU have given out cards for pre-ordering certain games in the past. Around Christmas BB had the Sherlock Holmes movie ticket deal (deal if you were planning on seeing the flick anyway). Ebay with Bing(when the discount is decent) has done well for me in the past on a couple 4k point cards. Also around Christmas, ebillme had a $10 off any purchase at Buy.com. GoogleCheckout also had a $20 off any purchase at Buy.com, so those were good for one $10 card and one free card respectively. There was also that $20 off accessories coupon at Target around Christmas when you purchase hardware. Managed to get 4 cards during that deal.

Then there are the little (non?)deals with rebates/earning bonuses like using Reward Zone Gift Certificates towards points, Amazon or TRU promo gift cards and the like depending on how you view those bonuses. I know some prefer viewing it as a discount off the top of the game they are buying, I tend to view it as a bonus as advertised since I would be buying the game(s) anyway. I have a $10 RZ cert coming soon that I'll probably use on a 1600 point card since I get all my games & music from Amazon these days.

All in all I'd say my average is below $10 a card. I haven't kept track, but having bought around 36+ cards that's where my average would fall. I bought about 10 during the Target deal, and another 6-8 at CC. Funny to see how many I've actually bought over the years after typing this  but I buy a lot of XBLA games, DLC and Rock Band songs. I just find it amusing for someone to imply that someone is either stealing or a lying 'ass' because they sought out good deals.

Are you a complete idiot? I always respect those who did it before me, so I have respect for a longtime CAG, but this post was pretty idiotic.

Some of those were great deals but your going back to something that happened once in a lifetime, two years ago. CC isn't going out of business again and all of those sales aren't likely to return.

That being said, aside from CC and everything, how cheap were you really getting the points for through f'n rebate programs? You've got to be kidding guy. What were you paying $40 after everything?

Are you suggesting that this isn't a good deal and that people who want points now should wait and see if CC has another B1G1 sale on points?

I realize you were answering what someone asked you, but since you went through that long response you obviously had a point you wanted to deliver.

If you want to wait 2 years and see if you can get those sales, go do it, but if your looking for points now, this is a good deal and the best for you.

$10 off plus the 15% code I got in the mail from Dell makes this a pretty swell deal for me considering how long it's been since the buy 1 get 1 I had gotten my old points on at BB. I'm in.

To each his own, I guess, but I can't help but think buying a $50 gift card for $40 is a good deal. Factor in using the points to buy things on sale, and I'd say that's pretty nifty.

Now you're talking my language. $34 is a good deal. ($40 - 15%).
Are you a complete idiot?
Let me try this again. Once... a... year...somebody... has... a... great... deal. I was illustrating my point by posting examples as requested. You said that anyone that gets a better deal is stealing which is also why I went a couple years back on the examples, to merely illustrate a point. But by all means, I'm the idiot.

Also I wasn't referring to a CC closing deal, it was a legit deal in the weekly ad about 6 months before they went out of business. But kudos for picking a single deal out of the 8 I posted to rant about, 5 of which were in the past 3 months.
all of those sales aren't likely to return.
Welcome to the forum...that's why it is called a sale.

My example, say I have a $10 reward zone certificate or promo gift card from Amazon/TRU. I go to BB and buy a 1600 point card for $20. I hand them my $10 GC and then...wait for it... $20-$10 = $10.

Go easy on JohnDoe, Corvin...he hasn't been here long enough to be as hardcore cheap as some of us. Give him another year or two of seeing the type of real deals that come around here and he'll be the same kinda "Meh" about a deal like this as most CAG long timers.

How would one go about getting a 15% off code?? Is it a one-time code or a universal one you would be willing to share with us :)?

I love this forum. I guess we are all shedding light onto the game we play with retailers. It becomes money AND time. If we can just hold out one more moment, then maybe we can get "the deal of the lifetime." But most of us here have had that sinking feeling after we buy something and it goes down shortly afterwards. The market specialists of the world should study this place.

Games almost always go down. And some of us get hit by lightning and sell rare games on Ebay for $13,000 (no, I'm not that lucky). I suppose these points are a big deal since it is like creating our own personal sales since we are buying virtual money. We all had issues with MS making 80 pts=$1, but who in their right mind would put a $25 PSN or Wii card for $20. I suppose there are good things about the point system.

I miss those CC deals. Probably why they folded... not from us, but well-thought out business practices.

I hope more of these sales continue to come and we are all here to reap the rewards.

I haven't been here long enough? I don't take offense to that and I know your only saying that because of whats under my name; however, I've been here long before that registered date, since 06 or possibly 07. The thing is at that time you didn't need to be a registered member to look at all the deals. So, I was a guest for a while and when I did make a name to post I forgot the name weeks later. Now, you need a name to browse all of the deals so I just stay logged in and can't forget this name if I tried.

I'm a longtime CAG, but most don't know it.

I was a cheap ass when it came to games/movies/electronics too way before I came here. I agree that this forum doesn't define us. There are some who get really into the movement of being a CAG. I'm just glad we all post here to find a way to stretch our hard-earned dollars.
Crap. Just got a free shipping code, only to find that it's dead.
Meh, just keep checking. This is not a one in lifetime deal, it will back around. I have purchased from a reseller on amazon for the same as this deal. You just have keep checking.
