I wont because its all just shit you can buy separately. Granted I think its like 10 bucks cheaper to get the bundle than buy them all seperate but still im not buying a fucking controller and adapter just for one game. Especially when I can just play exactly the same on my wiiu pro controller, failing that the wiiu controller.

I get nostalgia but jesus nintendo is taking full of advantage of nostalgic suckers who get caught up in hype create by a corporation and have no will power on this one and laughing all the way to the bank.
 
I mean, I like the Gamecube controller as much as the next guy, but the Wii U Pro Controller or Classic Controller works just as well, and shit, I've been even known to play with the goddamn Wii Remote held sideways from time to time.

But yeah, they are definitely milking the hell out of the fanboys by coercing them into buying almost 15-year old controllers and an adapter (that may only work with this one game as far as we know) to make said controllers work.

I can't blame them though, milk those idiots as long as you can, Nintendo.

I wouldn't call everyone idiots. Some people just really want to use a GC controller for Smash, and are willing to pay for it. Playing with that controller is worth more to them than the extra $40 in their pocket. Does that mean they're dumb? No, it just means they value the controller more than the money it costs. Just because YOU personally don't value it, doesn't mean everyone who does is an idiot.

And btw, the controller will also be compatible with other games that are compatible, mainly Wii games. But there are a TON of Wii games compatible with the Gamecube controller. So, it's not like there's no added benefit whatsoever. And I'm pretty sure if and when we get Gamecube VC (fingers crossed on that one), the controller will be compatible with those games too.

I'd love a source on this. Just because the Wii supported Gamecube controllers doesn't mean the Wii mode of the Wii U knows to look for this Gamecube adapter.

Apparently you missed the thread where people fought tooth and nail to convince others that "because it's a bundle and $10 dollars cheaper than buying the things separately, it's an awesome deal" and were excited to buy it.

 
At $100, it's worth it to me.

  • I don't anticipate any time in which I stop playing Super Smash Bros. Melee at least once per year
  • I love the GC controller for Super Smash Bros.
  • I believe homebrew developers will get the GC controller USB adapter working with PCs
  • I bought a Wii U for Smash Bros. and don't think it will be discounted upon release
 
They could have charged more, and most of those buying the bundle would have paid it.

What I want to know is if there will be a special box for the bundle... I haven't seen one from Best Buy or anyone else offering the bundle either.
