It's a small savings, but Amazon gives you really nice prices up front anyway. The Prima hardcover CE guides tend to be $20 instead of the retail $30, for example.

To receive the Pre-order discount:
  1. Add the product described in the promotional offer message to your Shopping Cart.
  2. The amount of the Pre-order savings will be reflected on the final order checkout page and will be allocated to qualifying pre-orders only.
  3. If you remove any of the participating promotion items from your Shopping Cart or violate any of the terms and conditions listed below, the promotion will be invalid, and the discount will be removed from the order.
  4. If you return any of the items involved in the promotion, the discount previously applied to the order will be subtracted from the return credit.
Terms and Conditions:

  • [*]Promotion applies only to qualifying items displaying the offer message on their product information pages. Items that do not display the offer message do not qualify, regardless of the nature of the item.
[*]Items placed in Shopping Cart overnight may not be eligible for promotion at time of checkout.
[*]Applies only to products sold by Amazon.com. If Amazon.com is not the seller, this will be noted on the product detail page.
[*]Offer must be redeemed through the Shopping Cart. Does not apply to orders placed with 1-Click.
[*]Amazon.com reserves the right to cancel this promotion at any time.
[*]Shipping and handling charges may apply to all products.
    [*]No substitutions or rain checks.
    [*]Void where prohibited.
The 5% discount does not appear until the final order review page.

Just a couple samples:

Super Mario Galaxy Collector's Edition - $18.80

Mass Effect Collector's Edition - $21.94

Mass Effect LE Art Book - $15.67

I don't know why I just bought a strategy guide for a Mario game, but oh well.
Not a bash on you, but 5% discounts from companies almost feel insulting to me. I mean, that's not even tax!
well if its a high priced item, it can mean much...like...a $500 item... but a strategy guide is rather insulting.

The Mass Effect LE guide is $34.99 at full retail price, so getting it for $21.94 w/o tax isn't a bad savings at all.

For the LE artbook for Mass Effect, I believe it's included with the LE guide, as it's two books included with the package, per numerous descriptions.

I emailed Random House to see if the art book above is the same one that comes with the LE guide bundle.

I kinda wish I had pre-ordered the Disgaea AoD guide for $16 and change. Little worried DJ might start not allowing GS to drop the price on their guides and printing smaller numbers. But they also seem to have reprinted everything but SMT Nocturne.

Keep in mind you probably don't pay tax on Amazon orders and their guides are way cheaper than buying them in the store so an extra 5% is a nice little bonus. $21 for a LE strat guide is a great deal. It'd cost you $32 or so at Gamestop after tax.

What's the deal with the standalone Mass Effect Art Book though? Amazon says it is 160 pages but the LE strat guide comes with a 192 page art book for like $5 more. Doesn't make much sense. Even if it's a misprint and it's the same artbook, why would you buy the art book separately when you can get the whole strat guide too for a little extra?

I emailed Random House (who Prima is part of) and asked them that same question.

From my email to them:
I am trying to place a pre-order for the Mass Effect Limited Edition strategy guide (ISBN #: 9780761556237), which is on the Prima Games website at the following URL:
http://www.primagames.com/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780761556237

The LE strategy guide is listed as having the strategy guide (ISBN # 9780761554080) as well as the LE artbook. Also on the Prima Games website is a listing for the LE art book (ISBN #: 9780761558514), at the following URL:
http://www.primagames.com/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780761558514

I would like to confirm if the LE strategy guide bundle contains the same art book as the art book listed above with the above ISBN #. As I would prefer to make only one purchase, I would like to find out if there is only one art book, or if there is a different LE art book that comes with the LE guide bundle.
When they respond to me, I'll post it in here.

Looks like it's the same artbook included with the LE guide bundle as sold separately:
Good afternoon,

Thank you for contacting Random House, Inc.

The Limited edition art book that is listed in ISBN 9780761556237 is the same art book that is being sold separately under ISBN 9780761554080.

Thank you.
Hardcover with a few extra goodies.
Is it kinda like the LoZ:TP guide? Tempted if it has that much polish, though I really doubt I need the guide...

Any idea what the goodies are? Googled around but didn't exactly tell me what is so... "collector" worthy about it.

Dang, wish this came up when Phantom Hourglass released because I pre-ordered that. It's been shipped and it hasn't even arrived yet.
I might wanna get the Galaxy guide though.

[Edit] Oh wait! It didn't even ship yet. I'll use this to my advantage. \:D/

Book Description
All moves illustrated: The Wii Remote moves for Mario will be detailed with full illustrations.
World-by-world walkthrough: With a plethora of worlds to explore, you'll need Prima to guide you through each.
Glowing poster! A large-format glow-in-the-dark poster with Mario Galaxy art on both sides.
3D Maps - Unique maps for all worlds in 3D!
Extra content: Exclusive to the Collector's Edition, sixteen pages of extra Super Mario Galaxy content.
Hardcover with dust jacket - This special guide will be printed in hardcover with dust jacket. A true collector's item for all Mario fans!

Compared to the regular guide:
Book Description
All moves illustrated: The Wii Remote moves for Mario will be detailed with full illustrations.
Complete foe strategies: Tactics to defeat all of Mario's new enemies.
World-by-world walkthrough: With a plethora of worlds to explore, you'll need Prima to guide you through each.
Poster insert: A large-format poster with Mario Galaxy art on both sides.
Deluxe cover: Silver foil cover on every guide.
3D Maps - Unique maps for all worlds in 3D!

Differences are the extra 16 pages, poster is glow-in-the-dark, and hardcover. Very similar to the differences between the two Zelda TP guides from Prima. At retail prices, it's probably not worth it, but since it's only $6 more for the CE over the regular on Amazon, not a bad deal.
