$5 off any PS2 game at Best Buy B&M Printable Coupon - Confirmed Actually Works Now!

CAGiversary!
I didn't see this posted anywhere on the site yet. This is ripped from FW:

Found this as part of McDonald's current PSP promotion. Go to McDonald's contest site:
http://mcdonalds3.promotions.com/psp/front.do

Wait for the flash animation to play, then click the EXPLORE button on the left. Wait for another flash to finish, then click on the back right swirl that says "Best Buy Coupon" when you mouse over it. This gives you a link to print the coupon.

The coupon states that it is good for $5 off ANY PS2 game, no restrictions on price listed. Coupon is valid through 12/31/05.

EDIT: Note that this is a different coupon than the previous one for PS2/PSP, and that it seems more legit, since it's supposed to be printed from McDonald's website rather than being a photocopy of in in-store coupon.

EDIT 2 Electric Boogaloo: Here's a PDF to the coupon in case you can't find it: (thanks encendido5)

Phew! For a while there I thought I had given a bum deal to the community. I'm glad it works now. I updated the title to reflect the confirmations of workitude.

Is anyone else having trouble getting "free" games with it? I tried to use it with another purchase, so I could get Astro Boy (4.99) and Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines ($9.99) with two coupons, and they wouldn't let me use one on Astro Boy because its not over $5, but they didn't really care that I was using two of 'em. So my question is this, how do I get FREE games with the coupons?!

I guess it really depends on the store, but they SHOULD honor it (the 4.99 game, not the two coupon thing, hehe). It says nothing about a minimum price on the coupon, so you should be fine. I just got XIII two days ago at my local BB for free. No tax either.

Ok this probably has been stated...but can you use multiple coupons?? I'm not saying use like 10 coupons and get a free new game......but like use 2 or 3 coupons at once?? Also, could I reserve a game using the coupon??
What are some games I could get around $5-$10 before this coupon that I can still trade in to EBgames for Madden 2006?
metal arms, midway arcade treasures (i think), badboys all qualify

Beyond Good & Evil also.

Edit - I'm glad the McD coupon is finally working, though I have had NO problem with the old $5 PS2/PSP coupon recently. After getting shot down on the McD one when it first came out I switched back. I'll just stick with the old one until it no longer works. It seems the cashiers have seen enough of them by now that they don't hesitate any more.

YMMV - I used 3 at once yesterday, but other times they tell me only 1 per visit. Sometimes they claim the "computer won't let them" but that's BS as I had no problem yesterday - the guy scanned all the games, then scanned all the coupons, the computer discounted all 3 $9.99 games. I also bought 2 PS2 GH for $22 (with reward zone) and all the deals worked together - walked out with 5 games for $37 :D. I didn't try using the 10% off game coupon (that came in the mail a few days ago) because I assumed it wouldn't combine - but I should have tried it!

First cashier only let me use the coupon for one of my games, so I just had the others voided. Came back a half hour later with two coupons for two games and another cashier, and after reading the fine print (which is completely ambiguous), she discounted both. It didn't scan either time, had to be entered manually, but the second time she actually had to manually enter the discount as well. But it worked.

Using the High Resolution coupon with my laser printer the BB Cashier has no problem scan the coupon. I will get all of the $9.99 game very soon... I am very glad that the coupon is in their system already... Thank You everybody here!!!!!!!!!!
hey, we can't print multiples and use them, even if u don't use em all at once...it says limit one offer per coupon per household
As I stated above, I don't know what one offer per coupon means (isn't a coupon an offer?) and the cashiers don't either. So you'll either get one who only lets you use it for one game, or one who will scan it for any amount of games. And its not like they take your address down, so go back as many times as you want.

At the Best Buy that I just went to, the guy would NOT let me use 5 coupons for 5 different games. He said that I could only use 1 per visit. So I came back into the store 2 more times and figured that I would get the other 2 later. I picked up Max Payne 2, Strike Force Bowling and Midway Arcade Treasure - each for $5 after coupon

Thanks, I got MLB for PSP for $35 and Beyond Good and Evil for $5. I used 1 coupon for each game and it worked for me. Thanks again.

Taking advantage of someone else's ignorance is not nice.

Some cashiers balk when you don't owe them any money. I've always bought something else non-game when 'buying' a free game. Usually it's something else I'm wanting like a CD, media or some cables, but a bottle of soda works, too. I've gotten about six or seven free games this way with no hassles. I probably could have been fine without it, but they seem to care less as long as I'm giving them some kind of payment.

Heck, my five year old son told the cashier during one trip that I printed the first coupon from the internet, and the cashier just chuckled, so I guess in general I haven't had any issues.

And how many times do we, as the consumer, pay? 15% restocking fee for an item advertised to be compatable but for some reason isn't? $9.99 membership fees to discounts? No price matching because an item is not in stock somewhere else? And I can't tell you how many times I didn't get the 110% price match, because the person behind the customer service counter doesn't know thier own Price Match Policy.

Sorry, but I don't feel bad at all because a) They are still making a nice tidy profit and; 2) They've been doing the same think to uninformed consumers for years.

Your thoughts?

Scored a Katamari Damacy new today with this coupon. She asked me where the coupon was from and I told her McDonald's website and go no problems. Plus my $5 RZ cert it was $10.xx.

Thanks OP, bout time I tried out Katamari, everyone talks about it after all.

Not sure if thise was mentioned yet but just a FYI... don't pick up any type of free demo/cd/dvd when using the $5 coupon.

I was buying Xenosaga II the other day and the coupon registered as $0 discount since BB's system won't allow for more then one promotion on one transaction... I was stuck at the register for about 5-minutes before somebody figured out why. They had to ring up my free MLB CD in a seperate transaction.

So make sure you do a seperate transaction or better yet, don't even bother having BB scan those freebies and just pocket them (since they're free anyway).

You should have saved your $5 RZ cert for something else and gotten Katarmi Damacy for $10 at the TRU 50% off clearance next week.

Bwahahaha

That would be for a Toys R Us that actually has good games on clearance. All the good stuff goes from full price to mysteriously vanished - I think they've got an employee ebaying them or something. Rarely do I ever see any actual good games green-tagged. I wandered in there last week and I don't recall seeing any Katamari there...just a bunch of crap as usual for my TRU.

Like - they have Digital Devil Saga right now - but I will never get it on on a greentag sale, by then it will be gone.

Now if only they had an xbox coupon. I was tempted to pick up Def Jam Fight for NY last night but then I would much rather have the xbox version... I was standing in BB wondering what to do if I should buy the PS2 version with the coupon and maybe try exchanging it for the xbox version?

Got beyond good and evil. I was little hesitant at first, but I was pleasantly surprised when it rung up at 9.99 which made the game $5 and change after coupon.
I guess BB folks are just as bad at keeping the pricing tag up to date as target.. you never know..

everytime i have used this, they ask for my phone number. when my mom used it, they didn't. i figured that might have something to do with the "1 per household" bit, but i might be wrong... can anyone verify?

i'm not sure what's up with the phone number thing other then them wanting your personal info so they can send you junk mail/coupons, track your buying habits, possibly sell your info to others. Maybe a Best Buy worker here knows.

I've had them ask when I buy penny guides and games and DVDs, etc.
I just usually make something up on the fly.

I'm pretty sure that's it. I usually tell them I'd rather not, since after their CEO publicly declared war on "devil" customers I'd rather not have my purchases tracked.

So is this just an online coupon? Cause my printer only has black and white ink and I don't want to deal with a bunch of crap at my BB. They're horrible enough with customer service as it is and I don't want a hassle when I bring in my printed coupon.

Thanks

I try to use the coupon but the fucker jerk Cashier denied the coupon saying that they do not accept the photocopy. It is true that I have used the coupon in this unmarketable store many times and most of the Cashier here remembers me. Anyone else with this problem?

i see absolutley no reason why you would specify the cashiers race..

One local BB of mine actually had some $5 games left. Today I picked up NCAA March Madness 2005 + Citrus Tropical Tropicana (good stuff!) for $1.34, then went back later and picked up XIII + Jampack 11 for $1.06.

They clearanced out Jampack 11 for $1. Figured I'd do better with that instead of more High Fructose Corn Syrup (I prefer Brominated Vegetable Oil :)

Yes, they asked for my Phone # each time, and I'll be sure to never give them the same one twice after thinking about the "1 per household" limit, good call on that just in case.
none of the BB stores here in Southern CA ask for my phone # when using the coupon.
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It's not because of the coupon, most stores ask for phone numbers now for reporting purposes (not tracking you, though they could if it weren't a waste of their time, but just to identify purchasing trends, if person purchases product A, then they're likely to purchase product B, etc.). At least thats been my experience with it. Unless stores just like to track when certain products are purchased, so thats the only time they ask for your phone number. You don't actually have to provide them with your number, if you don't want.

Why not tell them that it's a coupon that you get online, and that you only have a black and white printer with which to print it?

Of course I did. I explained to that fucker 3 times and he said I can talk to the manager. I took back my coupon and said fuck that...

Well, I finally switched over to the McD coupon and I must say that it is a lot easier than the other BB coupon. All I had to say was that it was the McD coupon and they actually, actually understoof for once and it scanned and everything. Thanks OP.

Why didn't you want to talk to the manager? In my retail experience, they're more likely to side w a customer than the cashier is.

There is a plan against me in that store. There are 2 Cashiers (same race, male & female) that look at me with a fuckin jerk face everytime I checkout. Just for this store, other stores don't even read what the hell I gave to them.

Sounds like you might be the arse end of a joke there, perhaps they're going out after work and sharing funny stories about what they'll be doing to you next time you show up with your cheap "copied" coupons :)

Serious note though, I need some advice. The BB that has at least 8 copies left of NCAA MM 2005 near me also happens to be the SMALLEST BB I've ever seen, so there's only 1 (that's right, 1) register for the whole store (not including Customer Service's). I wouldn't mind slowly leaking them out of the store, but I want to upgrade my old PS2 to an new PSTwo, and I need to build up some EB credit by the 27th, since the $30 bonus for PS2 + 3 games ends on the 27th.

What's the best way to do this with the least possibility of denial, but in the shortest amount of time? I'm also getting sick of buying a soda/Jampack every time, since I only get $4 credit for the game at EB.

I'm heading out now for my 2nd daily run there, this time I'll try 1 free + jampack, then go back in and give the "oh look, I found another coupon, I'll just take one more for free, if you don't mind" routine.

Plan B might just have to be: round up the wife and nephew for a trip to Best Buy. Walking in separately does wonders to the "one per household" rule.
