FYE is having a sale on it's clamshell games: get $5 off 2, $10 off three, or $5 off of each game if you buy 4 or more. Here's the thing: bring up 4 or more for $4.99, and they'll all be $0.01! I picked up 27 titles(WOOOOOOHOOO!!!) with just a few duplicates, all just a cent. Mostly Agetec, Mud Duck and Bam! titles, all PS1:
Action Bass
Big Bass Fishing
Board Game Top Shop
Billiards
Card Games
Puzzle Star Sweep
Baldies
Kiss Pinball
Kickboxing
Street Racquetball
Putter Golf
Mobile Armor
Chess
All-Star Slammin' D-Ball
Austin Powers Pinball
Extreme Go-Kart Racing
Largo Winch .//Commando Sar
Martian Gothic Unification
Jimmy White's Cueball 2
Big Strike Bowling
Ford Racing
A1 Racing
Snowboarding

The best finds for not a penny (after $5 off) were:
Sorcerer's Maze - PS1: $2
XS Junior League Dodgeball - PS1: $2
Family Card Games Fun Pack - PS1: $2
Rollcage Stage II - PS1: $2
ATV Racers - PS1: $2
Gekioh Shooting King - PS1: $5
Sol Divide - PS1: $5
Wu Tang Shaolin Style - PS1: $10
Evergrace - PS2: $5
Hunter The Reckoning Wayward - PS2: $5
Fur Fighters Viggo's Revenge - PS2: $5
Blowout - PS2: $5
Syberia - XBOX - $10

Bear in mind, of course, YMMV. The signs for this sale were photocopies placed on top of the two square clamshell kiosks. The only fineprint said "Only games $19.99 and under", and nothing about $4.99 titles, so if a manager tries to call you on it, you'd win the argument (or get thrown out trying).

With my county tax, I could walk into FYE and get all of that for a Quarter. Wow... that's crazy... I don't even care if I haven't heard any of the games... just saying "yeah, I just got this stack of games for 0.25" would be worth it.

Holy Crap, that is some deal if it is nationwide. I guess I'll have to check FYE tomorrow and see if I can pick up a bunch of PS games that I will likely never play. :)

I'm guessing those games that they have in the cheap plastic packaging so they can hang them on hooks. It's a staple of games you should never think of buying (except if they're a penny).
what are "clamshell" games?
I thought about trying this last week but I thought that they were sure to say no because they wouldn't want to give out free games and I didn't want to argue over some games I didn't really want so I ended up buying 4 PS2 games at $9.99 each so the total was $20 plus tax. But if it really does work with the $4.99 PS1 games I may try it.

I tried this a couple nights ago.

I tried to buy 2 $15 games and 4 $5 games. The manager wouldn't give the discount on the $5 games. He said that he would not give me games for free. He even admitted that's what the sign said, but he still wouldn't give me free games. I got the number to the district manager, but I doubt I'll follow up on it.

This is going on at at least some of the Coconuts in Chicago.

To clarify...yes clamshell games are new, unopened games that come in that plastic packaging that is sometimes used to hang games from hooks.

I did not find any 4.99 games when I saw this deal 2 weeks ago, but I did pick up a couple of 9.99 games for 4.99...I mayy revisit my local store and see if they have any 4.99 games in stock.

I posted this like two weeks ago and even when I first saw the sale in the store it looked like it had been going on for a while.

I didn't think to look for any 4.99 games though, great deal you got on those.

Thanks guys. I hope that some of you out there are able to take advantage of this deal. I missed ST's post about it earlier.

The only titles I found for $4.99 were PS1. Some PS2 were $9.99, and most GC and XBOX were $14.99.

A friend of mine found the deal on Saturday, and picked up around 20 penny games. I grabbed 16 at first, but decided to go back and clean out the last 11 they had. I payed with two nickels and a penny; it was freakin' awesome

I called my FYE, and they said this deal is on at my local store too. I'll check it out this afternoon and post if I find anything.

Well, I did it. I'm sitting here looking at:

Sorcerer's Maze
Qix Neo
ATV Racers
Pro Pinball: Big Race USA
Action Bass
Robo Pit 2
Largo Winch .// Commando Sar
The Three Stooges
Darkstone
Austin Powers Pinball

all for a penny apiece. The cashier thought it was unbelievable, and checked the sign several times over to make sure there was no fine print, but she gave it to me without argument. :)

wow penny games, even if they suck it's a good deal. What would be even funnier is if they have "take a penny, give a penny" dish and you use that to pay for your games.

Yeah, it was pretty weird when I bought 'em. I didn't even really register the titles when I was going through the rack...I just picked up one of every game that looked different that was marked $4.99. :p At least I can trade 'em in for more than a penny if they suck...so it's a no-lose situation!

I was able to get "Wildl 9" and many of the other games you listed. I also picked up "Arctic Thunder" (XBOX) for $15 and "Namco Collection"(PS2) for $5. The cashier at the store I went to said that I needed to purchase at least one game that wasn't free for the games to ring up right. I was actually making one cent for each 4.99 game that I bought.

I picked up the following at the same store as Cicada17. Like he mentioned, I made a penny on all of the titles after I purchased Arctic Thunder for Xbox ($14.99).

Austin Powers Pinball
Martian Gothic
Sorcerer's Maze
Action Bass
Super Space Race

hey, id like to trade for some of the titles people are picking up, heres what i have to trade from the sale

im looking for:
Board Game Top Shop
Card Games
Puzzle Star Sweep
Kickboxing
Street Racquetball
Putter Golf
Mobile Armor
Extreme Go-Kart Racing

i got:

jimmy white's 2 cueball x2
ford racing
spec ops stealth patrol x2
kiss pinball
big bass fishing
motocross mania
martian gothic
qix neo
action bass
miracle space race
pro pinball: big race usa
atv racers

Haha, trading for games that we got for free. Good luck with that one. Sure, I picked up some games because they were free. Add shipping to that equation though and there's only a couple games on the list that are worth the $1.75. :)

I got 12 games out of this for $3.84 as the cashier was confused and rang things up at 30 cents a piece (As told to do so by the manager). I would trade but I don't think anyone wants Ford Racing... I know I sure wouldn't want it if I paid more than a dollar for it!

BTW, Qix Neo rocks. I paid the full $5 for it a few months ago and still play it occasionally.

I got:
Ford Racing
Martian Gothic
Big Strike Bowling
Ausitn PowersPinball
Largo Winch
Robo-Pit 2
Kiss Pinball
Dark Stone
Big Bass Fishing
Action Bass
Jimmy Whites 2
Big Race USA Pinball
I had to argue with the lady and then I gave her my number until they could contact a higher manager, They then called me back and I cam to the store got the games and 12 cents, o yeah

Didn't see any $5 clamshell games at FYE today so I'll have to check the bigger, downtown store.

Hopefully there will still be some left. I might even stumble on another N64/DC accessory or game (they are dirt cheap if you find them, a new fishing controller for DC rung up at .99 cents and N64 dex drive rings up at .01).

FYE had only crap $19.99 games. But I did manage to finally get a hold of Amplitude. One box said $14.99 from $39.99 (the correct price, and a great deal; GameStop wants $25 for used), others said $39.99. Take THAT, crappy TRU BOGO deal!

I managed to get Robo Pit 2, Sorceror's Maze, Miracle Space Race, and Largo Winch for a grand total of 4 cents! Great deal!

Amplitude should also be 14.99 at CC because of the "hidden" $5 off sale($19.99 minus $5). I'll probably take a spin by FYE tomarrow in manhattam to see if there's anything at all worth picking up at this point.

Just so you know, some stores have all the $4.99 games at $9.99. The Livonia Mall's Fye has the sale, but nothing for 4.99, and the ones i had gotten for .01 like wild 9 were 9.99

The FYE in Maryland decided to write in on the ad above the kiosk that it excleded $4.99 games. Wouldnt doubt if someone tried to get a ton of games and then they decided to change it because they only had 4 left when I checked it out.

I tried this in Harrisburg East Mall (PA) and was fed a bunch of bull as the manager took the sign down. I wish I had the time/ know-how to do something about it.

I tried this a couple days ago ($4.99 games) and was fed the line "You think we're just gonna give you a free game?" to which I replied "if it's within the scop of the deal, yes."

Needless to say, the manager went from courteous to pissy in no time flat.

I got some stuff at the Ithaca FYE and the clerk commented how he'd been waiting for someone to do this since the sale had been going on for weeks and no one thought to grab $5 games. The only problem was ringing it out, so he manually price adjusted each game to a penny with his manager's blessing. Then I went to the FYE in Horseheads, where three kids beat me to the rack by seconds and got just about everything, They then roamed the store with armloads of games while the manager quietly went over and wrote on the sign that it didn't count $4.99 games. They didn't fight it and put them back.

I made a few mistakes but....I could have put up a fight if I wasn't on my lunch hour. Here is my story:

West Nyack NY Palisades Mall. Go in look around. Signs plastered everywhere. I grab 3 $4.99 games and Mega Man 8 for $9.99. Then I look at the bottom of the shelf and see some Dreamcast games...new and sealed. Start looking...Phantasy Star Online (with Sonic Adventure 2 Demo Included) $2.99 Soul Reaver $1.99 Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX $2.99. I grab all three...the rest were crappy sports games. So I bring all of them up and it comes to about $35 w/ tax. So then I mention the stock up sale. The one girl behind the guy ringing me up is like oh yeah and starts punching in some stuff. She then sees some games are only $2.99 and $1.99 yada yada yada. Well we can't give $5 off on those games. So then they call another guy over and he says its only on the newer games. So then I mention the sign says VIDEO GAMES and doesn't specify that it is only NEWER games. So we are going back and forth a bit. They wanted to give me $5 off of the $9.99 Mega Man game and that was it. I got frustrated and had to get out of there (on lunch) so I just took the 3 Dreamcast games for $8 and change. Now if I had the time to argue...I would have. Also in hindsight I would have asked them to ring up the 3 $4.99 games and the 1 $9.99 game seperately as they kept telling me they couldn't give me $5 off of the cheaper games.

All in all it wasn't a loss because the $4.99 games were garbage and I did get those 3 Dreamcast games but still. I just wish I had the time to argue the point.

ha, ha. That's what happened to me today, but the manager gave up real fast when I blurted out 'false advertising'. I'm sure she is really pissed and the only reason I care is because I KNOW she is gonna give me a hard time now whenever I sell games to that store again.

YMMV definately for Fort Wayne Indiana. The cheapest that any of the were was 6.99 and only like 5 different kinds of the one of the list on the front page.

The manager at the FYE in Sioux Falls SD was really cool about it just walked by looked at the sign for a second and said ok. I ran there stock clean at that point (only 8 games). I went in there yesterday looking for what games the mail in rebates were on and the employee that checked me out mentioned that after I left the mgr updated the sign to not include 4.99 titles (like they needed to though I took all they had except one which would've been a double for me)
