Free $25 Amazon Gift Card with Xbox 360 Arcade.

Looks like it's good until March 9.

I just bought a refurb that sounds horrible when it's on, so I'm returning it and jumping on this one.

I'm not gonna try and check out and I could be completely wrong, but I'd assume this means that you can't use the $50 you get to pay for this.

When is MS going to come out with updated pack in games. I have Pure and not a huge fan of the lego game. Where's the 250GB elite???

They aren't. The Holiday Bundles are gone from most stores I've been to (BB, Fry's, Target). They're going back to the 120 Elite, makes sense since this says "holiday bundle".

I had a FFXIII one pre-ordered. But I think I'll just buy this as I do have some interest in Pure (and I've already got XIII pre-ordered for the PS3, was getting it mainly for the HDD). For an effective 250 I can live with it (cuz lord knows I'll be buying 50 bucks of stuff from Amazon in the future anyway).

Pack in games are usually done around Fall/Christmas and then they phase it out in the spring/when they run out...in the past, this has been roughly done at the same time of a hard drive size upgrade but MS recently said that 250GB were only going to be on special edition bundles (like the modern warfare/FFXII) for the foreseeable future. I think MS will just opt for $50 price cut in the next few months, given the number of gift card promos/free controller promos MS has been doing as of late.

Odd, despite saying it doesn't allow you to pay with GCs, it adds the leftover credit I have to it automatically. Wouldn't their system normally stop me from doing so? Think it'd just void the promo? The checkout page seems to say otherwise.
They're saying that the 50 gift card can't be used to help buy it. Not that you can't use previous ones.
I figured, but the way they state it is so vague:

"Please note: Promotional funds and/or gift certificates cannot be used as either full or partial payment method."

Seems like more bullshit from Microsoft, so they can move the FFXIII bundle (notice how that was thrown in there). The 250GB HDD was already announced in Japan and is being released March 11.

I'm sure we can expect a statement down the road soon.

I don't think too many US American's would like to pay 160 dollars for the 250GB hdd. I'm amazed they'd even launch it in Japan? It's doing decently enough there but the bread and butter of releases and sales is here in the US. Why release it there?

Also, slighlty related, could it be imported and used on XBL without being banned? For those that wouldn't mind paying 200 to get it to them.

Good question about importing. I don't see why not.

As far as the price, people were paying $150+ for the 120GB HDD. When consumers are presented with no other option, they will often buckle and pay the piper. I definitely think you'll see the 250GB stand-alone soon enough, and people will pay. Though, I do suspect that it won't move as well. The jump from 20GB/60GB to 120GB was extremely significant, especially from the 20GB. It simply is not enough, not with the size of many pieces of DLC and the introduction of game installs. 120GB, though, is certainly enough to download a lot of stuff and install a bunch of games. The jump to 250GB is not as significant.

I wouldn't be surprised if a 250gb comes out as a stand alone product at some stage in the US, esp since the 120gb stand alone drive is being phased out and the margins on these things are pretty fantastic given the prices MS charges....but I think MS will keep the elite at 120gb because bumping up to 250gb isn't going make potential PS3 buyers shift and buy a 360 instead because it has bigger hard drive and it would be likely more profitable to have current 360 owners looking for more space to buy new a 250gb drive rather than have them buy whole new elite. By sticking to the 120gb (which is frankly massive for most users) and dropping the elite's price $50, MS can put more pressure on Sony price wise while still keeping their own margins in OK shape.

I would agree that's a likely scenario. You probably won't see 250GB Elites until the 360 is near its end, and they want something to re-ignite some interest to move units.

This wound up being a great deal for me after my Pro red ringed.
Grabbed an elite for $299, used the $50 gift card to pre-order BFBC2, then Amazon issued a $20 credit for the pre-order which I promptly spent on a 12 month Xbox live card since mine expires in a few days.

Really? I pulled the trigger earlier and it applied it for me.
