WASHINGTON - U.S. Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will propose closing 150 military facilities across the country, the first round of base closures in 10 years.
As many as 33 major military bases are recommended for closure, which would save $48.8 billion US over 20 years, said Rumsfeld. Under the proposal, 29 other major bases will remain open but could lose thousands of troops.
