Is the 500 points for pre-ordering LA Noire only available in-store?
No, that's on the Rewards Zone site now. You'll get 500 points for ordering online.
For the benefit of anyone who hasn't been through the long and arduous process of earning bonus points for online purchases, here's how it works: shortly after you make your purchase (a few days, perhaps) you can visit
www.myrz.com to confirm you will be getting your bonus points. After logging in, click the "My Account" page and you should see a list of transactions in a box called "Points and Purchases." All that will tell you is that you have some points pending, but not how many. If you then click the "Points and Purchases"
button it will open a new page where there should be a little + button next to your online purchase that lets you expand details. Click the + and you should see a breakdown of how many points you will eventually get for your purchase, including Preorder points. It took me a little while to stumble across this, so I figured I'd post about it.
Anyway, what I
actually came here to post, though was: did anyone actually get 500 points for pre-ordering Brink? It's clearly listed on the BBY forums
as posted by a Best Buy employee as one of the games eligible for a pre-order bonus (see link on OP), but there was no mention of a pre-order bonus at the in-store kiosk I visited about 2 weeks ago, and it never showed up as a Gamer's Club promotion on the RZ site. I called Best Buy customer service on Monday and the Game Purchasing rep I spoke with seemed to know about the deal but couldn't find it, so he forwarded me to RZ customer support who told me if I couldn't find the link online it probably isn't a real promotion & I shouldn't pre-order.
What a mess! Navigating BBY's game deals lately has been a nightmare, and it's really a little sad that even they can't seem to agree on what their own promotions are. I don't know whether I should pre-order online, pre-order in-store or just trade in all my BBY credits for Amazon gift cards and shop there, lol.
Anyway, based on the reviews I'm reading for Brink, maybe BBY actually did me a favor, lol. I think I'll just keep my eye out for price drops on Brink and start researching the best way to get LA Noire.
